For Infused Oil:
16 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
1/2 oz Dried Calendula Petals
For Lip Balm:
2.5 oz Calendula Oil
1 oz Yellow Beeswax
1/2 oz Coconut Oil
1/2 oz Shea Butter
5 mini scoops Stevia
about 16 lip tins

Hi Megan, you can purchase a double boiler at any store than sells pots and pans =). Megan is correct, you can make a double boiler by placing a heat safe bowl or container over a saucepan containing water.

Hi Cailin Tunnicliffe! You can substitute the beeswax for candelilla wax, which is a vegetable-based wax. Keep in mind, this will make the balm softer. I would recommend making a small test batch to see if you like the consistency. If you want it a little more firm, you can add more coconut oil. =) Candelilla wax: www.brambleberry.com/Candelilla-Wax-P4207.aspx

Thank you for this tutorial. Would this be the same consistency as a 'store bought' lip balm? Just making sure it isnt super soft and wont melt. Also, can I make less calendula infused oil just for a few recipes, or will it not work if I only use say 1/4 or 1/2 of amount? Thank you in advance :)

dont knock it till you try it there are simple lip balm recipes out there that are awesome! some similar to burts bees even and you can make it for a fraction of the price

I am thinking of trying your Everything Balm for a tattoo salve/balm. and I would like to use the Arnica Oil Infusion you mentioned. What oil is can I use that won't damage the tattoo to infuse with the Arnica Flowers. Also do you have a better recipe for a tattoo balm other then the Everything Balm? Thank you so much!!

@ShortStuffm the spoon probably wasn't cold enough it most likely cooled down a bit when dipped into the spoon but might have still been warm-ish but in the tin it cooled down completely so it wasnt as soft

Dear me... that shattered glass looked scary! :( Oh, and here in my country, Shea Butter and Beeswax aren't easily available, whereas coconut oil/palm oil, and avocado oil are. Are there any substitutes you'd recommend which are just as good?

With this recipe for the infused oil, 16 oz of oil and a 1/2 oz of calendula petals, how much infused oil is made? I hope it's more than the couple ounces needed in the lip balm recipe?

I want to make a peppermint lip balm, but the only one on Bramble Berry is and essential oil that is very expensive and not very worth it unless I sold I ton. Can I use store bought peppermint extract as a flavor instead?

Hi there! If you'd like, you could omit it from the recipe. The reason why we include it is because it gives the lip balm a pleasant, slightly sweet taste.

The calendula petals look exactly the same to the herb used to boil herbal soup . My mom makes soups whit those .

Mine will not melt completely. There are tiny round bits of what I believe is the Shea butter, possibly. I set the glass measuring cup on a bowl of hot water o the stove top hoping that would eventually melt it without doing damage to the Shea butter. Help!!!???

Good way to remember weight vs volume is a kg of bricks and a kg of feathers weigh the same but the feathers have more volume. Or a cup of pennies and a cup of cotton balls have the same volume but the pennies have more weight (I think) 🙂

Can I add liquid stevia instead of solid one? Sugar doesn't dissolve in oil. Balms might be grainy right?
