Nice job overall. You said it was bland. Well you left all the flavor in the Ipot! Next time hit the Saute button while the pork cools and you pull it. Reduce the liquid GOLD to one and one half cups the , skim the fat, and pour the remaining over the pork and toss. You now added all that goodness back into the meat. Now adjust with S&P, Brown Sugar or more AC Vinegar to your taste. Don't be afraid of Liquid Smoke. A couple of teaspoons in the reduce pot liquor will make that meat smokey enough to fool a lot of folks...JJ
I always cook pulled pork in my own wet sauce. Main ingredients are ketchup brown sugar and vinegar. Plus quite a few spices. That's for my crock pot. Can I do the same in an IP?
Hell yeah bro, I sometimes watch another channel called simply Sara's kitchen. She makes like home style stuff but she knows her shit. But when u see this woman, you'll know she's earned her pallet
I've seen enough cooking shows to look forward to all the fake reactions about how great the food is. I swear channels make it based on that stupid reaction they all do. I have learned to laugh at all their over reactions. I was very pleasantly surprised with your honesty. This is the best cooking video I think I've seen. Seriously. Thank you.
Great job! Very well done video. I'll be heading to my local Costco tomorrow to pick up a couple full pork butts. They usually run about 12 to 14 pounds with the bone in. I've used these for several years to do my own pork sausages and brats. I can't wait to try your recipe for pulled pork in my new Instant Pot. I love the comment about not trusting a skinny chef! I also like the idea about reducing down all that yummy liquid gold and returning those wonderful flavors back into the finished shredded pork. I love the fact you brown the meat before pressure cooking. Those brown bits add huge flavor! I see to many instant pot recipes that eliminate that vital step.
Thanks! When you took the meat out my mouth started to water. Great clear explanation. And thanks for your honest assessment and recommendation for a bit more seasoning.. Off I go to try it!
I made this tonight. It is absolutely delicious! I rubbed a SERIOUS amount of my husband’s rib rub recipe. The technique you showed made it the perfect texture. THANK YOU!
Thanx i was pushed for time on a catering job. So i smoked the butts for while i slept for 5hrs. Put them in the persure cooker for 60mins and they came out perfectly!!!!
2021 here! This is a fantastic recipe! If you shred the pork and brush a layer of bbq sauce on top then put it under the broiler to crisp up then you have a masterpiece!
after it was done I put the instapot on saute and boiled down the sauce to a thicker consistency (about 10 mins or so) and it was perfect to pour over the pulled pork and still have some left over to put on the sandwhiches. thougtht Id sahre :)
Great job considering what you have to work with but another way to do this is to use a boneless picnic roast pork butt it will be smaller. Pressure cook it for 30 to 40 minutes. Take it out, season it again put it on the smoker and it will cut your time by at least 50% and you still get the smoke flavor you can adjust the temperature on the smoker higher or lower based in the on the internal temperature of the pork when you take it out of the pressure cooker. Let it ride on the smoker under 200 because it will have already gotten hotter than that and see what you get when the barks done. It works for me and everybody thinks I’ve been smoking it for 10 hours. You have a great way of approaching cooking and you’re a blessed kind man. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Chef, thanks for the recipe. I've been using your recipe for years and it always turns out great. 4.5 years later and I always refer back to this video. Thanks again!
I just made this. It was even better than the crock pot recipe that you put out. I was able to make a great sauce by adding a corn starch slurry to the juices produced in the cook. Thanks man Bad Beast of a recipe!
I love this video and how you made adjustments to the recipe and explained what you were doing! Cant wait to do this for my family. Thank you for the advice!
Yes , I never mix chicken flavors with pork !! I have being doing pork butt in pressure cookers for over 30 years now but I like some of your tips !! I love your passion keep it up !!
A HINT! Cut your pork into smaller pieces before seasoning. I go with maybe 4 inch cubes, more or less. Then, make sure you go nice and dark with the initial searing to really toast up all the spices and get a crust on the meat. This will just help get more seasoning throughout the meat since you aren't cooking it as long as you might with other methods. I also find that only shredding and saucing what you plan to eat, then freezing the cubed pork makes for way more satisfying reheated meals later on! I was wondering if you have experimented with the onions and other aromatics. Do you find that sautéing them beforehand changes flavor? I'm definitely trying it your way next time with fresh garlic. Great video!
I use your cooking method and bbq sauce every time I make pulled pork in my instant pot. I just used rub recipe I found on the IP app. Comes out amazing every time!
Thank you very much for making this video. You were straight forward with no silly joking around like most videos I tried to watch. I'm going to cook my pork roast in my new instant pot in 2 days thanks to you. God bless you !
Just got me a quart instant pot and have a 5 lb pork butt in the freezer getting ready to cook up a storm. Thanks a lot for this good video many blessings to you and yours in this new year of 2023.
Making this tonight but I’m putting rum in my bbq mixture. It’s very good that way as well I just never cooked this in my insta pot. But so many great flavors come out of it. Love your way as well.
Saw the video, liked the recipe ! Will try it next weekend with the family. Greetings from Puerto Rico, my brother ! Keep up the good "cookin"...God bless !
I do it a bit differently, and no bbq sauce. I do my own flavors. But I do the BBQ sauce afterwards. But before I do, I add back some of the pulled pork and some various types of vegetables. Along with some wide egg noodles. Cook that in the pressure cooker and now I have an incredibly large amount of stew.
Delicious Pulled Pork, very juicy, just need a French Baguette and you're good to go! Thumbs Up Bad Beast BBQ, you really are a bad beast when it comes to the BBQ game, keep up the great work and have yourself a wonderful Thursday afternoon!!
Great walk through, thanks bro. I have one and was wondering what a good approach would be. I'll try this way. I appreciate it. My seal went out after the first 4 times using it. Amazon sells seals... they are like 5$ for 4 of them not a bad price.
carmine dalessandro yes!!! Goya two days in advance garlic, fennel seeds and flor de anis. Cook them together to unlock the flavor mixture and marinate. Sea salt and pepper to taste. Into the caja china it goes!!!
Now I have tried to cook in the instantPot just like this but I always use the metal holder so the meat doesnt get stuck to the bottom which it could?? Maybe it doesn't matter depending on what your using. last time I tried a recipe like this, I used like 4 cups of Broth but used the metal holder which raised up the meat but it still came out amazing.... Video was great...Always like to see another look on something I like to make!!!
I would put some Liquid Smoke in the cooking liquid in the pot and reduce that down, using the Saute button, to a thick sauce to mix back into the meat for flavor.
I just made pulled pork in the instant pot wrapped in bacon and it is amazing! Loving the instant pot, especially in the winter. More seasoning is key!
I know this is an older video but holy moly, that looks amazing!!! I'd be tempted to cut as close to the bone and then save the bone in my freezer for some pork stock. 😋 Getting ready to try my second ever pork butt/shoulder in my 10qt IP. Your temp/time was super helpful! Thank you so much!
Hey Daryl : I was watching pulled pork videos and came across yours. Getting ready to make a batch myself and want to see I anyone makes it different than me. I kept thinking I know that face and it was bugging me. I kept thing food Network or Cooking channel!! About half way through I remembered that is Daryl from Misawa Japan. This is Gerry Krug!! Glad you are well and great video!!
Great video. I used it as a guide for a pork shoulder a couple weeks back. I put my pork shoulder in the smoker only to realize I wasn't going to have enough time. Put it on smoke for a little over an hour and then finished in the Instant Pot. It came out great! Question for you, what are those gloves? Looks like they would be useful for taking big meats off of a grill or smoker. Like a turkey or something. I've never dropped one before, but I feel like this would reduce the risk.
If you are talking about the gloves I used at the end to shred the meat the are just a simple pair of heat resistant gloves for food prep. Here is a link to something similar on Amazon: amzn.to/2vvt6xm , hope that helps.
I have cooked so’e damn good barbecue Before in the pressure cooker! The only thing is the smoke flavor not there! I do believe liquid smoke should work, just have to be careful a little goes a long way with that stuff! Awesome
Ooooyeahh baby bring it!!! I did 4 pork steaks in My instant pot, Boi let me tell you. They were fall apart and mmm mmm Good the next day Too!. I'm Definitely doing a pork roast mananã ❤️
