I've been studying in Italy for 2 months now and no one has explained the sentence structure to me and I almost cried from happiness because now I feel like I can talk to people it Italian and not be nervous about it. Ive told all the other American exchange students about this video and they all have said its helped them. Thank you so much!

G'Day , Ciao As an Australian 🇦🇺 speaker of Greek🇬🇷 , Japanese 🇯🇵,German 🇩🇪, Arabic 🇪🇬 and Sinhala 🇱🇰. You explain Italian sentence structure very well . I see similarities between Italian and the languages that I speak in regards to grammar and sentence structure . I am teaching myself Italian as my daughter is studying Italian at high school and I want to help her . Plus I'm lucky enough to have Italian boyfriend to practice my Italian with. Thank you . Grazie mille 😊

Ciao! I've just started studying Italian a few days ago and I'm taking my time learning just common words using an app called "Memrise" and it really helps you throughout you experience and will even have you review if it feels like you're forgetting something. With that being said, I have a hard time figuring out how to form sentences. Like I know some like "come ti chiami?" or "sto molto bene" but it's just challenging for me. Any tips on how I could learn sentence structure for Italian?
@italymadeeasy
@italymadeeasy 7 лет назад
Hey Mike! The problem is that Memrise, Duolingo and the like are really only good for vocabulary. Best way to master the structure is to (1) study the grammar - quickly, (2) read and analyse a lot of texts in Italian and (3) speak with native speakers as much as you can! In bocca al lupo!

Mike West memrise is a wonderful app! I have learned so much using it. I dont study the language only use memrise and I have finished Duolingo and I can all ready keep a pretty good conversation
@nadinemunoz9519

Mike West although manu is right in order to learn well best way is to speak with natives! I also used the app Hellotalk. try it out :) its a language exchange app

Is it possible to translate english to Italian word by word? Because what I am doing right now is I am memorizing lots of words and will try to construct them all later. Now the sentence construction confuses me.

In Brazil we would say: "`Perché Maria è triste?" instead of "Perché è triste Maria?". Is it also correct? Because I would prefer using the first one! hahaha
@Sethoshini95
@Sethoshini95 8 лет назад
it feels pretty weird that you want to specify the name... i would just ask "Perchè è triste?" I mean... you are already talking about her, so it's pretty obvious who you are talking about. That said... tecnically the first one is incorrect and it feels strange, but if you like it you can use it. As i said, that's not the weirdest part of the question
@douglaslibraiz
@douglaslibraiz 8 лет назад
In Brazil (I'm Brazilian) it is normal to use the first one (Por que Maria é triste?), but in Italian it seems that the subject goes at the end in this case (Perché è triste Maria?). I reaffirm that in Portuguese the first structure is correct, that's why I asked Manu about the position of Maria in the sentence! :-)
@Sethoshini95
@Sethoshini95 8 лет назад
douglaslibraiz technically speaking they are both correct. it's just something that is not used and feels extremly weird, pretty much like "thy" in english
@douglaslibraiz
@douglaslibraiz 8 лет назад
Yeah! It makes sense! As to the "thy" word, I just heard it in Irish english! Since I'm used to the american english, the first time I heard it, it sounded very archaic to me! ahahaha

Ciao, this video has confused me a little. If anyone can help then let me know Di che parla questo libro? = this book talk about? Di che libro parla? = what does this book talk about? Quanto pane vuoi? How much bread do you want? Here the verb is not straight after the question word. Maybe if there is a preposition, you have to put the noun at the end? Help me!
