I smiled when your wonderful Dad said that you could wash out the bags the blackberries were in and use them again. I come from Brits and this is exactly how I look at re-using things. If it can be recycled, then we do so. Also loved the cupboards full of jam. Your Dad is a treasure for sure.

I do the same with those plastic bags. My parents were from the depression era and saved or reused everything even after they could afford not to. I find I have inherited that same mentality.

My father suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. This has been very painful to watch my father forget our names and memories of the past. Nicki, you are so blessed to have such a clear minded and beautiful father with rich stories to share on video! I agree, my dad passed when I was too young to know how valuable his stories were and my mom suffers from dementia. It's such a loss and each time I see Harry, I feel overwhelming gratitude that Nicki and her family have his stories and a way to record them and treasure them forever.

But the Brits love their jam. Did you ever see Hope & Glory? Takes place in the suburbs of London during WWII. The dad comes home on leave with a can of German jam. It washed up after a ship was bombed. Hesitant at first, the family had been without for too long. The dig in with spoons 😂

I nearly cried! It bought back memories of my dad, he passed away in 2013 at the age of 97. He would cook down figs for fig jam, had a big fig tree, and yes he put bits of lemon 🍋 in while cooking! There was nothing he couldn’t cook! Love ❤️ your dad, he is amazing! You are so blessed 😇 to have him ❤❤❤! SOUTH GEORGIA PEACH 🍑

That was a nice surprise. As children we often went blackberry picking and Mum made jam. Our instruction was always to never pick from the lower part of the bushes because dogs might have peed on them. 😁Wise words!

Picking wild blackberries and making jam at home all in 55 minutes is fantastic, definitely delicious and healthy, unlike industrial jam which is full of sugar, how satisfying. The image of your dad sharing his toast with Indie is absolutely sweet and tender, how cute 💚💚

What a delight your Dad is. We have a lot of British friends and acquaintances who were in the music and film business in the 70s and 80s. Some of my best memories are from those wild days. Awww this reminded me of my nana. My grandparents grew 27 varieties of fruit and my nana would make jam and marmalade. She did this into her 80s. My mum also makes jam and like your dad, has a couple of cupboards with plenty of jars full of yummy jam. And oddly enough my husband's dad owned a factory that made jam covers. Your dad needs his own Food Network or PBS/Public Television show/series -- he would be an instant hit here in the US!
