How to Make Jeans Pockets Deeper| DIY Sewing Tutorial 

I don’t know why manufacturers even sell jeans without a phone sized pocket. Thankfully, your directions were clever and it’s easy to fix!

I've lost count of the time I've come back to this tutorial over the years. It's so useful.

I've been wanting to do this for years. Just give me pockets I don't want to buy a f*cking purse!

This video was so great. If you ever find time to make a tutorial on how to make brand new pockets from faux jean pockets, I would super love that. Your's is the only tutorial I could follow along and was easy enough to understand. I prefer to use a sewing machine to hand-stitching so it would be great to see that option also.

Thank you for this video! I used your technique to fix the ripped pocket in my favourite Tramarossa chinos. It was my first attempt at using a thread and a needle but it came out perfectly! Really proud of myself! 😁

Awesome demonstration. I viewed 2 other videos and their biggest fail, they did not teach the actual sewing machine option. By the way, the scissors to prevent fraying are called, "pinking sheets." Thanks for a great video.

Thank you for this clear and helpful video. I hope a lot of people, especially women, find it and make use of it. I am going to extend the pockets on my new jean skirt today. Two thoughts: (1) you can also use children's washable markers to mark fabric. And (2) all large sewing scissors are called "shears," but as you noted in the superscript, the ones that make a zig-zag cut in the fabric are called, "pinking shears."

Ohmygod yesterday i spent basically a whole day trying to figure out how to machine sew bigger pockets and mY GOD when you just flipped the fabric inside the pocket to sew i had to pause the video because if i had simply figured that out before???? Hi there awesome video. So I bought a pair of Jean's were just a tad bit of the pocket pops out (the white part) it's very minimal how can I fix that?

Your video is exactly what I was looking for. However, instead of using a needle & thread, I will be using my Speedy Stitcher which enables me to lock each stitch same as a sewing machine & includes really strong poly thread. I have been wanting to fix holes in the pocket & increase the "depth" of the hand pockets on both hips in my military pants with just one repair. Please consider making a video that uses a Speedy Stitcher which in my opinion is much more practical for sewing pockets than needle & thread. Or you could simply add to this video & sew a pocket on with Speedy Stitcher while you extol its virtues over needle & thread. Additionally, I'll use Stitch Witchery to hold the pocket add-on in place while I'm sewing instead of pins, safety or otherwise.

Zero dislikes and rightly so! I have some great Jeans but the quality of the pockets at their lowest point is bad, going to try out you're method by replacing the fabric! :)

good DIY. i roamed around 3 professional tailors here in Bengluru, for my 3 new shorts whose pockets are not deep enough to hold my samsung mobile. They all (being professional tailors) said nothing can be done on these pockets once they were done. How sad. Now I know how to do it. But one big question remains yet. By whom will it get done?

i kinda inverted the pattern side, but doing this was soo worth it!! 🥰 my phone can fit in my pocket now :D i'm excited for a bag reduced future 😌 i also kinda took a shortcut by using the leg of some leggings that were the same width of my pocket to reduce sewing 🪡 (instead of having to sew 3 sides, i only had to do 1)

I started watching your tutorial and found this breath taking young woman with some shit clothes on and was immediately saddened by your thirst trap as you were raised better than a tight sweater and some DIYs. But if you have time to come to LA I can make you a star.
