How to make Lego insiders better - LEGO 40703 Micro Ninjago City 

hey thanks for the shout-out Jaabo! the lack of other mini modulars is definitely a huge miss!

The old point system was more transparent and I guess that's why they changed it to make it harder to notice the "value". E.g. LEGO basically learnt from the different game companies.

I'm like you, I'm not into the cartoon, but the sets are so cool. I've got the original city model, and the Gardens one too. I'm hoping to by the Markets set now.

Actually I prefer to be able to buy something with Insiders/VIP points. That way you can choose whether to get the set or not. And you're not "forced" to buy something that you didn't really want. Because most of the products are cheaper elsewhere. TLG can improve in a lot of ways, but in defense of them in this case: if you get double points, this would be a "GWP" for a purchase of US$ 200. And the second Ninjago mini modular is now 2400 points, so that's an improvement already. Now I don't know how I'm going to be able to redeem the ones to follow, running out of points and having no big plans on purchasing.

I agree that it should be a possibility to buy the GWP sets either at a later time or for cash if you are a VIP/Insider. Since anyone can become it easily it might be to close to just releasing a new set so I don't think they will do it. Lego should do a Dilbert line of sets or CMFs 🙂

I also collect the Ninjago City line without being a Ninjago fan. They’re just cool!

I bought the ninjago city gardens from my friend because he was liquidating it so the jury is still out for me and I’m not interested in spending insiders points to get these micro builds. TitaniumJay said you can easily piece them together if you don’t care about physical instructions and the prints. If LEGO wants maximum sales not concentrated sales they would allow multiple ways to buy this

Option 3: able to buy these for a reasonable price for Insiders only sounds good to me. I think it would be even better if these sets would be available to everyone. It might proof to be a very good seller. I decided not to use my points and just buy the sets from a third party. I bought micro Ninjago City and the Docks. I just finished building the micro City and am already very happy with my purchase. The Ninjago Movie is good for a few laughs. There is one scene that must feel very familiar to you. 😉

Lego should make GWP also available to buy it also at the store.

The reason I like the points gift better: I earned those points over time - I don't have money to spend €250 in one go for a gwp.

In Australia we are SO lucky we only get free postage at 150 so usually getting point isn't a problem 😉

What is the incentive for getting a GWP? Is there anything about it that's exclusive, whether printed parts, minifigures, etc.? If not, then it's probably pretty easy to just piece together and I wouldn't care to get it. And I really dislike the whole FOMO with desirable GWP sets that LEGO seems to do more of nowadays. I personally think GWPs should be reserved to simple parts packs/poly bag type of sets. But more so than anything, I'd rather there be more double Insider/VIP point occasions and do fewer GWPs. But that's just my opinion.

IMO, LEGO rarely does anything that is logical or helpful to longtime fans of LEGO. I'm to the point (😉) where I only purchase a few new on shelves sets, and I mostly purchase used bulk and discounted LEGO since 2020... I might get the new Star Wars sets because I think those won't be around long. Trying to get all of those Clone Wars sets back in the day burnt me out!

I hope the Lego Group soon realizes that their incentive program is a mess.

Hey Jaabo My friend, Adeel, who used to work for LEGO, and applied for a designer role, but was unsuccessful, built micro scale version of the big Ninjago sets over a year ago and published his designs on Instagram. And now…. LEGO employ a team of folk whose sole job is to monitor (and reply to) social media. You gotta wonder? As for these Insider sets. It’s ridiculous and prohibitive how they are marketed. If you’re going to make micro sets like this, make them more widely available! I also noticed that certain LAN members have recently been sent prototype versions of the Bricklink Designer Programme sets, due out in 6 months. Why? If the intention is to build excitement and to encourage purchase of said sets, it’s a tad too late. They all sold out within days of them being announced! I really don’t like the direction in which TLG are moving and their reliance on influencers and LAN members, who are essentially influencers, is becoming frustrating.

I think they heard your plea to make it more affordable as the second one is 2600 points so a savings of 100 points. #JaaboFightingForThePeople
