Thank you! Well, the covering really depends, there's no exact answer. It depends on the type of clay, how you finished it on the wheel, what the weathers like, what the environment in your studio is like, and so on. So I can't give you an exact answer as there are so many variables. Generally at the moment, in the August here in the UK, I'll throw pots and then leave them very lightly covered overnight, (with plastic sheeting positioned as so it doesn't actually touch any of the pots, so it's more like a tent), then, in the morning, I'll uncover them and leave them to dry out further throughout the day until they're leather hard. At the moment as it's very rainy here and cold they can even take another day and night before they reach the right consistency, whereas in the summer, I need to thoroughly wrap the pots overnight otherwise they'll be too firm and almost bone dry come the morning. So, there's lots of considerations when making and it absolutely depends on your situation as for how long you should leave pots for before trimming them.

Cheers, I generally weigh out plus or minus 10 grams. But for smaller pots I tend to weigh them out pretty much perfectly.
