This is part two of the howto about how to make your linux desktop feel like a modern recreation of the Amiga and be able to integrate Amiga software into it. In this part I show how to make the desktop look and feel like late and more modern Amiga desktops. Before you keyboard warriors go mad in the comment section, please read that last line again. This is not a try to mimic a plain Workbench 3.1 install.

Thank you for putting this together! A while back I installed the Maxx desktop to make linux look like my old SGI, but now I need to set the wayback machine even further back and try this.

Ohh. did some googling into the Maxx desktop and it looks very interesting. A real SGI never crossed my desk I am afraid. The closest I came to one was seeing a few of them in a server room at work at one time. Kind of still a black hole this part of important history for me, as they are impossible to emulate (still!!) and hard to come by used at a fair price. Would love to dig into it though. I guess we all had a dream of one day owning one back in those days! The same with Next computers! Thanx for the tip on Maxx! Will for sure give it a try!

Thanks! I learned a few things to make my desktop look more like the Amiga. You should change your titlebar font as well.

Cool tutorial could you make one for a more modern Amiga OS like 4.1

Actually there is a theme for xfce with the amigaos4 look. So using this toturial with that theme should mostly get you there. Yt don't like links but just google for amigaos 4 theme xfce should get you there.
