Got much better when I sow those pig parts. I didn't know Americans make Pršut and Pancetta. It's a whole year long process, by our recipe. Drying it on cold- dry winter days, smoking it on humid days.Takes a year for those big fat legs
The food porn section at the end had me ready to bite my phone!! When you took that bacon down my little country heart did a flutter!!!! Great video again mr.Burns!!!
You make it look easy, but I know it's not. It can burn very easy! Great video Greg and super looking family! Next time I'm thru there, I'm stopping for breakfast!!
I started tapping my seven maple trees back in 2018 and have been making it every year since. I am in western PA and the weather has been too cold for flow but hoping it starts this week. Usually boil down 25-30 gallon of sap at a time and get a few batches. I use a 55 quart cooker with a propane burner. Someday I may switch to wood if I ever find that piece of property I dream about. Nothing like home-made ANYTHING! Starting my Bee Hives this spring. I really enjoy your channel.
I bet oil do the same as butter for the bubbles. I use oil to not boil over potato. Thanks for good tips of syrup making. We'll try 1 batch of maple and 1 batch of birch this year.
You should invest in a drill bit made specifically for tapping… that way you don’t have to blow into the hole… when you blow into the tap holes you’re putting in bacteria that will make your tap hole close up faster. Thanks for the videos ✌🏻
Greg thanks for this video! Because of being diabetic I thought I could not enjoy maple syrup or pancakes. After seeing you video I checked and pure maple syrup is actually good for diabetics to use and there are a lot of homemade diabetic/keto pancake recipes. Just like my honey, diabetics can use honey and it is much better thank sugar. You just have use it in moderation.
You have some nice tricks that I hadn't seen before. I've tapped a few trees for the last 4 years here in MN but don't have the resources to do it big time. Have you ever thought of doing the reverse osmosis? A little investment but cuts your cooking time in half and the wood supply in half also. Looks like Sue makes some great pancakes - can you ship me some? LOL
Enjoyed the video! I love making my own syrup, there's nothing sweeter except honey. Unfortunately I don't have the time every season for it. I still have a bunch from 2 seasons ago and I swear it gets better with age!
A maple is a maple. Even boxelders are maples. The sugar maple tree is preferred because it carries a higher sugar content but the red maples and silver maples work also but it takes more boiling time. You can also tap black walnut trees but the flavor is good but different from maples.
