I have a request for a tut. Breaks in the style of the Stanton Warriors, Marten Horger, Shade K etc... etc... Funky Florida or Nu Skool UK. That would just be the biz.
So I participated in Wills workshop and while I can't myself dedicate to it as I'm paying for and partway into another series of courses. I do think Will is quite good as a teacher, he most importantly loves the music and knows what he's talking about. At the end of the day like many others he's selling a course. From the looks of it, it's well thought out, professional and organized. And he certainly has positive feedback from previous students. Also I think he presents his information in a way that is easier to absorb than a number of other instructors. It is something I'll reconsider if I'm dissatisfied at the end with the courses i'm currently taking in terms of mixing and mastering.
Most of what hes teaching in the edm theory course you can learn watching his youtube videos. There are some good stuff that he hadn't included in his youtube videos but most is.the mixing course is much better. Gets into much more detail still find it a tad vague tho the reason for it is there would be no point in having a accelerator program if everything was available in the online courses. I cant see a mastering course. Im not sure about the future house e.c.t because I dont make house so I cant comment on that tbh. Its a good group of courses if you dont know much about musoc production but if you know loads already for e.g. you know. Hoe to use compressors and eqs, effects you can write melodys and make your own sounds I would personally not waste your time or money and just buy the mixing or what ever course the area that you need to improve on. I really wouldn't buy the edm music theory. Its not worth it.
Awesome to see you covering dubstep even if it's not your wheelhouse! :) Still a truly fantastic final result! Now, only add in a bass growl and/or sub drop here and there and the 7 lions would beg your 14 gazelles for mercy! (Or production tips.) haha 😂 Also, can only reiterate the shout-out to @9WorldsMusic for his newest release "Lost" - mega tune! :)
Hey Will, have you ever done a quick video covering how you prefer to organize your plugins. folders, etc? As a newbie, I sometimes find myself getting overwhelmed looking for stuff and searching all over. Curious how you organize your items!
Amazing video Will! Thank you for featuring my song “Lost” with Culture Code & Medyk! Just wanted to leave some extra tips here! :) Having a dedicated white noise would give a more levelled high end and not having build up The mid basses should have more upper mids/mid highs as they will blend with chords and leads The chords in the drop could also been good with another mid layer that’s a tad more more mono! Pretty spot on video Will, look forward to another video from you! 🙂
Hello Will! When you use the Live Compressor for sidechain and you hear that little thick go to the settings of compressor and activate the Lookahed mode to 1 or 10ms. Cheers!!!
Sheer wizardry Will! I actually liked the epic delay in the vocal drop. It's nice having the first part of the vocal with the delay layered on top of the remaining vocal without :) Loving binge watching all your videos..
Seeing as you offered, you've got heaps of awesome genre breakdowns. Would be great to see a deep-dive compare and contrast between future bass and melodic dubstep and what you consider sets them apart! Thanks :)
Awesome video Will! It’s inspiring to see you dish out a track of that calibre in such a short amount of time. Your videos inspire me to keep going, keep learning and growing. I look forward to the day where I can create music quickly and consistently bring the feels to my studio! 👏
Excellent ! Like how you explain and show things: clear, not too fast, not oto slow, enthusiastic, positive, happy ! Time flies when you're having fun 🙂
Another great tutorial from Sir Will … love every tutorial videos of his ! Looking forward to see another tutorial video of Anyma in coming days … thx !
@@EDMTips I'm a complete beginner right now and learning how to use 'BandLab'. From all of these great videos, I am trying to see if there's a way to adjust the shape of sounds in that DAW. I haven't found any kind of oscilloscope yet, but where there's a will there's a way.
Would you be able to do a Lost Frequencies video? He’s been my inspiration to get into producing and I really think he has a unique style that really no one else has. I would love to make music like his.
Hey Will, I love your videos and am so grateful your channel. You are succinct and in my opinion, the best production YoutTube channel. For the next "How to" video, could you please do Future Garage like Overmono? Thanks
Great video, Will! I loved how you stuck to mostly built-in plugins for this video. Any chance we could see you use any free Serum alternatives in future videos (like Vital)?
Cool video Will, but one thing that confuses me to no end about melodic dubstep is how similar it seems to future bass. I've even tried asking someone who makes melodic dubstep commonly, and he couldn't even pinpoint the difference other than the sources "where it comes from" and various nuances in the processing I guess.
For someone who is a new producer, is the order of which you created this tune your normal work flow? I find myself getting stuck on what to do next and would appreciate a guide of what “specific” things I should do until I internalize a work flow. I am a radio ready program member and haven’t found this information inside the coarse yet for Future Base. Thanks!
Thank you so much, you helped me create something I didn't think I could on my own, I know you said you dont specialise in this kind of music, but have you ever considered making tutorials for other styles? Even if you're not used to making them you seem to know what you're doing!
@@EDMTips Disco like "purple disco machine" or synthwave like "FM-86". Just food for thought since you're not afraid of going out your comfort zone! Thanks again!
@@EDMTipsI hadn't actually, should of done my research lol, they were my substition recomendation for "Siames" but I think as youve mentioned, without an actual guitar it's hard to recreate it, and as they're a electronic 5:24 rock band, kind of important. Thanks for the constant useful tips! Keep it up!
I am following your other presenters like Ariana Grande - 'No Tears Left to Cry' Deconstruction w/ Risa T who uses Pro Logic. Can you re-create/how would you Deconstruct the Ariana Grande - 'No Tears Left to Cry" to sound the same In Ableton Live 12 ? i would rather stick to one DAW? but at the moment i cant relate or transcribe what is being created in Logic Pro, to Ableton Live.
Synths may be cyan in the wild, but domesticated in my computer synths are pink. This pigmentation is due to a diet high in shrimp kept within the water cooled enclosure
Great question, Roy! I write it very time before recording the video. I basically, list everything I want to cover so if you go through the chapters, you'll have the magic list too :)
Mate, around 10 min you say that melodic dubstep isn’t really your wheelhouse/isn’t what you usually produce. Got me curious, what is? I’ve seen your videos on several different subgenres, but what’s your main jam?
His reason for lowering it on the fader is to create headroom in the full mix of things. If u plan on processing the kick on the channel it’s on before it gets to the master bus, I would lower it in the sample as well so there’s headroom for processing on the channel. If the sample is at 0.0 , it might be too loud already for any room for processing. Hope this helps
great tutorial. it is really hard to write melodic dub in c major. the bass just doesn't hit in that sclale and the chords arent as in your face. C major just isn't euphoric enough for melodic dub IMO. Just my two cents from making the style regularly.
@@EDMTips absolutely. but you are spot on and its easy to change key. Just wanted to put here in comments for people to try some sharps or flats like ab minor is great. if you think of like heavy UK dubstep it basically translates to the relative minor a lot of times. Like f minor and ab major are great to write melodic dub. same goes for other flats. can get really pretty melodys along with heavy bass.
Cmaj and minor can be good keys to write in but the basses need overtones in 80hz and around 120hz. It all really depends on the mixing if you want better bass in this scale! But overall D-A is usually the best for bass!
@@9WorldsMusic understood. my point basically is that there is a reason there are only very few melodic dub songs in a minor or c major. The ones that are don't quite have the huge chord and bass sound that others do to me.
Hello! May I ask which distributors work with film trailer music? Where can I distribute trailers if I work with them? And what is the LUFS for trailers? I know Ditto, but I think it's only for stream platform music. Maybe you can make a video about it..
Thanks for the video! I tried to download project under several your videos. Typed in my name and email in provided form. Tried different emails. But never get anything. Does downloading your project files work at all?
@@EDMTipsI want to thank you for your work! especially for the low end balance video! it seems i wasted years and didn't understand what was the problem with my dirty tracks but now i rebuilt the bottom according to your guide and the track started to sound much cleaner and louder!
erhhh I accidentally join ur RRW (the "6 Steps to Creating Radio-Ready, Chart-Topping Electronic Music Congratulations... You've been registered!" yeh.... Can I undo the course (also my first name is Max)? I only attended to get the sample pack and project file, so sorry ._.
Sounds extremely soulless and to the grid. Can you add groove or swing to it and show us how you use the groove pull in an entire project? I understand how you do it but not which one is best to use for music like this.
I like to make melodic dubstep/chillstep and prefer any range between 120-144 bpm, depends what your going for. 124 is a good sweet spot if your going for a simpler song without alot of filtering and/or automation. Also thanks again to Will on these videos! Been improving alot since!
