Out of 16 ores, 10 of them are worth over 2.5k/scu compared to 6 before, meaning you going to come across more valuable ores more frequently, the prices are also better, Gold Bexalite and Taranite are like "old Quantanium" price and new Quantanium price is just the Cherry on top. Can't wait for it

Thank you for this vid. I pulled up my Prospector with the default Arbor and no modules or gadgets last night in the PTU to test out how a “new miner” might make out, and went out into the ArcCorp system (Wala). I didn’t really have any luck with the mineable s due to their sizes, so I QT’d into band 5 of the Aaron halo.I filled my bags relatively quickly with a single roid. I’ll see what my load brings tonight (22 hour Dynex refining). Since I mined Quant only if I stumbled across it, and my basic philosophy is that EVERY MATERIAL has value, just some better than others, this might be an enjoyable patch for me. More testing scheduled for tonight, and thank you for your tutorials.

I started with a Prospector about a year ago i eventually added a Connie Taurus to it for hauling the materials. The Prospector is the best real world money ship in the game imo as it puts any ship in game wishing reach with just a few weeks mining. Usually after a wipe i will go get some low grade materials going just to get some cash in hand then settle into hunting for the big money materials.

@@lg23c39 QUant is easy to find in 3.18. You jsut fly to lyria and search deposits tha tregister as 3400+ on scanner. It usually takes around 5-10m to find a solid rock. If you get good, you can easily make ~250K an hour. Way more than we're ever going to make in 3.19, sadly.

That’s good to hear. Everything I’ve seen so far regarding the mining changes has made it seem like CIG was giving the Mole all kinds of love, while dropping a steaming turd on Prospector owners. Pretty much forcing multi crew for the mining game loop to be worth the time.

Mining solo is still great as you can basically crack even bigger rocks with the hofstede and rieger module together. On top of that two people can still help each other on an even bigger scale than any other update by cracking truly massive rocks over 20k. Sadly that 3rd prospector though kills everything it's literally impossible to crack anything. Solo or tandem is better than it has ever been!

It's probably also worth noting that different stations give you bonuses for specific types of materials as well so you can actually end up getting more material than you would at one station compared to another which in conclusion weed to higher profits

Yeah I did check those but really. They purposely spread them apart compared to where the commons drop. For me it was worth losing I think 1 or 2% towards laranite I believe? No other negatives and imo for me at least not worth flying across the verse quite yet between each load. Just considering how fast you can complete trips now.

Good timing with this video. I've been loving the changes but there's some comments I've seen where ppl are losing their minds about the prospector and mining in general being nerfed to hell. Not only do we get to change the scenery but this whole balance will soon include saddlebag-swapping and mining missions. Don't melt your Prospectors!

Prospector mining in a group of 2 is actually extremely good right now. You can crack some really huge rocks together then both fill up. I love it! The only real thing I views as a nerf is missing the quant glory days. However the value has been so jucked up when you do find it you're freaking filthy rich. The prospector didn't really get a nerf. If anything it's an actual boost. Especially when done in tandem with the hofstede laser. Solo I can crack up to 10k rocks without a surge and stampede. With a friend and a dumb arbor head on his renter prospector we can crack 20k rocks. I'm betting a second hofstede and rieger would make it even more cheesy.

@@chrishoppner150 yup, totally agree. I think the general concern was regarding the quant meta. These changes have improved mining across the board. Everything makes more sense. It gives me confidence that the Orion and the mythical mining ship that fits between the MOLE and Orion will have balanced roles too.

It makes mining much more consistent from what I have seen. For me the average per hour goes down as I was pretty decent at quant mining. Over all though it will make it very consistent for the newer to average player.

I have the game since 2017 but i can play game now due to technically issues because of that I can say I'm a new player so as a new player I don't have that mining ship first I need money to take that ship and I found a easy mission. There's a 73k aUEC delivery mission in personal section when you are in Orison... You're only boarding a ship without any fighting and you are taking a package and deliver it to the Grim Hex... And everytime this mission is there... I thought it's an easy alternative too maybe idk 🤷🏻

You can still find Quant out in the Halo at a reasonable rate. But the majority of the quant you find will be rocks big enough to need the firepower of one or even two moles to break. Imagine a rock mass 30,000 at 35% or greater Quant. In the Halo, clusters are few and far between. Replaced with more of the fargin HUGE rocks.

I'm guessing a nerf overall I was able 31 scu of quant in 20~25 minutes in 3.17 when I leaned where to go in the Aaron halo. But it cool that the rented prospector can be somewhat useful. Refining more orders will also mean need a larger ship to hull refined material to sell or more trips.

So the prospector bags don't lock down onto the grid of a cargo hauler. What is the best ship to move the bags? I was hoping to keep filling and dumping bags with a friend to freight them to a refinery. Also, if you pull your bags off, and then go to repair, they are like 10k each to repair. So may be better to pull them, self destruct, then claim.

@@siunotacotv2641 Well they might not have to do a wipe yet as long as the back end doesn't get corrupted by a billion mini patches. They didn't wipe when everyone thought they would from .1 to .2. Who knows maybe they won't bother as the last wipes were not long ago. I just hope it's not so much time between doing an action and then the server responds. The back end of 3.18 has been brutal on gameplay over time.

Yeah over all its basically less per hour. You mostly want to target gold / taranite. It's worth almost as much as Qaunt used to be.

@@HawkesGaming Always love your videos, and your accent :-) - I've found the Hofstead is just too limiting on rock sizes. I'm now running a Helix-1 with 2 XTR-Xl mods to get back a reasonable window size. I just cracked a 17,800 rock, 16% resistance, 50% Taranite, using a Sabir to get the res back down to 8%. You have to be prepared to laser toggle smaller rock fragments due to 20% min laser, but its easy enough, as long as you are always ready with the "S" key ;-) Crack and run. With the Mole saddle bag upgrade its made mining much more profitable for me now. I've also noticed some rocks wont generate any heat, but if you move to different spots on the rock, all of a sudden they can heat up fast. It's a bug, or a "feature". Overall, the Helix makes for much less frustrating runs - really opens up what you can crack. I found the Hofstead is just too "safe" a head.

Ouch, I have lost over 230k in mods as the charge level would not display on the HUD, the rock explodes and happily sheers off my mods - repair is horrible now, no insurance protection for loss, now full cost like it was brand new purchase. Hard taxing players is not fun. A bit later now the charge bar is now finally displaying - same mining run, hopefully the servers will be more stable.

It is so good with that bigger charge window, the bonus to collecting less inert and that 5% minimum charge window is so clutch it's not even fair really. Couple that with a 125% bonus to your laser power from the Rieger and it's an amazing combo for sure.

i have 3.19 mining once on PTU and twice on LIVE and it took me longer ... about 2 hours to fill prospector and I am making about 65k per load vs about 175k to 250k pre 3.19. I have mole but i hate it. That said the mole would be much better even solo. I miss the old days.

@@HawkesGaming I was on Lyria with an impact I and no modules, i only have 20k until i deliver .... than i will only have 150k ... today ... i will try crusader later but most rocks i cant break. I had one that was 4k and i couldnt break it :(. For me most rock only need one break so with out two breaks the 80% to 100% rocks are more rare end up with a lot of 30% - 40% rocks

I just had a thought. Quant is becoming more valuable and I've got a load of refined quant ready for sale. I wonder if I wait till after the update I can sell it for a stupid amount 🤔.

From past experiences, work orders get reset upon updates. I'd sell before the patch to be safe.

I've been throwing away titanium because another source said it's a tier 3 value? Now I'm confused titanium in 19.1 is worth it or not?

its the highest worth in teir 3, its in teir 3 but its the most valuable out of that teir. in teir 2 the most valuable is diamond, in teir 3 is gold, and then quantanium at the top

How do you change the laser on a rented ship? I unlocked the ports and managed to take the original laser off but when I tried to drop the new laser on the floor, to tractor beam it on to the ship, it won't let me drop it because I'm in an armistice zone.
