So much of this is NOT how to make money with a kids channel, but rather how to make money other places, like "Make a new channel" or "Go to Patreon". Not exactly click-bait, but certainly a bit deceiving.
I think RU-vid did not think this all the way through. For one thing educational channels created for kids in mind should not be demonetized. Kids aren’t looking for that content. Parents and teachers are! I’ve been in classrooms and schools and teachers use RU-vid all the time! It’s so discouraging that they put all these rules on my channel. 🥺
1. Keep Creating Content 2. Reduce amount of videos per week 3. Look to maximize affiliate revenue 4. Add merch to your site 5. Create your own mobile add 6. Create a youtube members' area 7. sign up for crowd sourcing 8. Create another channel that's not kids oriented 9. Create more channels. So basically, to make money on a youtube kid's channel... you don't use a youtube kids channel.
Thank you David! This was super helpful for all the new kids channel being created in 2020. I hope for success and growth for everyone starting this year! We got this! Let’s get it done 💪🏼🤝
I'm a professional animator and made a youtube channel for my 1 year old son. I included him into my animations with green screen shooting. It was really hard to shoot nice moments in front of the green screen but I'm happy with the results. I'm also using licensed educational songs in those videos. At the end even tho if the channel can't make a hit, it will be a good memory for him I guess. He's now 2 years old.
I just started my kid's channel this month. Thanks for the tips, very enlightening. I was familiar with the COPPA and FTC regulations. However, it was news to me about the restrictions with monetization.
We started our kids channel a couple of months ago! We were super excited! Despite of all the changes, we'll still be happy making videos. We might try some of these other suggestions too. Thanks for the tips!🙂
I also made a channel for my kids so they can entertain themselves and also be productive during quarantine and thanks for making me realize that kids also can earn money from RU-vid.
Tip number 1, leave RU-vid. Income earned from a 'KIDS' video with 300.000 views is $20. This is why all the 'KIDS' producers left the site. Your title is a tad off the subject, but hey clickbait is where it's at.
@@DavidWalshOnline But you can have moneterization of the channel, but it will be non-personalised ads running, so ad revenue would be less than personalised ads, but you can still monetarise the channel (after meeting youtube criteria). ?
So, can content creators still make money on their kids channels through non-personalized ads played on their videos? I heard that this was only targeted at personalized ads. Thanks
This has put me down since I really wanted to help my jobless dad to earn some money and so I can move to a bigger apartment, not sure what we should now!! :(
Hi David, what is your advise for a brand new kids art channel? I am an adult creating all the content, but the channel is for kids and beginner artist, would I still be able to monetize?
I love making videos with my toddler and newborn. I normally just post on Facebook but how awesome it would be to make a living while hanging out with my kids.
Thank you! This is so useful! I just created a channel last month (spent so many hours) but I didn’t know fully about the RU-vid rules :s! Thanks again!
Thanks David for your tips.. I just build my kids channel, The Little KUKs, cause my daughter loves to do experiments.. but now it seems that I have to make my own channel too.. 😂
One thing.. i did see several "made for kids" channels who still have commercials (which i assume they make money from) and yes, their channel was branded as "made for kids content" since comments were disabled. So you can monitize your channel i assume, but it would be less profitable?
Thank you for the tips and for giving me hope. I was anxious to put out family friendly content and excited about the income potential, until everything changed. I like the idea about the merch. Once I build an audience I believe that will become a source of income. Thanks again.
@@vinicinematics9766 you are right, I'm very new. I'm not very tech savvy but would love for more kids to see my channel, I believe they will enjoy it. I'm just not sure how to make that happen?
I’m working on an children’s animation channel that strictly shows animation and no actual children. Do you know if these types of videos are also demonetized on the platform and have no earning potential?
I thought affiliate links are not allowed for kids. Our old Amazon Affiliate requires info where your sharing their link and if they review it as a kids channel they won't let you be an affiliate.
I am getting the same amount of views, but like 5% of revenue compared to before. It is so discouraging because I really love making educational videos.
We decided to follow your advice about posting less (now it’s once a week) and...nothing changed. I mean people are still watching our content and like it.
Some of the videos that i upload on my channel are animated, which are basically made for kids, if i set it to 'Yes It is MADE FOR KIDS' then the money that i make will be less. If i set it to 'NOT MADE FOR KIDS', what will youtube do to my channel? I'd be very glad if you could help me out. Thanks.
I have just started my channel! Will I ever be able to monetize it even if it's for less ads? Will youtube allow it when I get the number of viewing hours and the subscribers? Thanks
I'm replying to your video from 2014 on how to contact RU-vid... Just so everybody knows, after 4 attempts (by writing to them through Feedback and other given options) hoping to have one very simple question answered, I NEVER, EVER have heard from them. I'm actually quite active watching many topics I'm interested about and posting relevant content to those videos; but I have not been interested in posting video content to create a subscription channel. Although I'd find this ludicrous, my experience here prompts me to ask the question... Will my semi-passive user status contribute to the way RU-vid categorizes my posts as to their priority or the way they're seen by others? Hence my visibility as a poster? I've never violated any guidelines etc.. Anyway thanks for your informative videos, I appreciate any guidance or answers you may have in this regard.
I wasn’t making money before this so I really don’t care. However I do want to grow to make money so understanding how the rules have changed is important. This video was helpful with that research. I’ve never heard of members area either but I’m guessing I don’t qualify yet. Thank You for the Info.
I can answer this since I have a kids channel that's monetized. Yes, you still get paid. However, I get paid about 10% of what I use to make before the rules change in January.
Thanks for this helpful video. I subscribed to your channel. My RU-vid channel features puppet videos for teachers and parents to use with kids. I flagged them as "FOR CHILDREN." Am I correct in assuming that so long as I don't monetize them on YT, I can use my videos to drive traffic to my own site where I DO sell digital educational resources? Thanks. PS I also have a VIMEO account. I set this up sto that children would not be accidently shown inapproproate suggested videos at the end of mine. Is Vimeo alone a better platform to use? Or should I use YT for FREE content and Vimeo for paid content? Thanks.
Hey there, Since your videos are flagged "for kids" you can't monetize them anyway. So yes, I would be definitely sending them to your site as much as I could. If YT aren't giving you money, then get your viewers to give you money instead :)
@@DavidWalshOnline To be honest I have just been winging it mostly, while just trying to not get killed by RU-vid. (I mean what can I really do, not swear or not put copyrighted stuff? I'm just a small channel and make different videos of all kind and now if I do something wrong I die) I worry more for channels I watch since they are the people I actually like :P
Thanks so much!! We started our channel a few months ago but only got serious about it this summer. Hope our video reach as many kids as Ryan's videos some day ahahaha
It took 4 years before we allow our kids to have their channel. They want it, most especially my son, because it their (his) ultimate dream and to earn money at their (his) young age. We permitted them just now and this things are implemented. I don't think I will tell them the news. I don't want to upset them. :(
Hey guys! I plan on building my channel in the near future but wondering if I understand correctly now YT is not paying kids channels as ads are not on YT kids?
Why is it that some family bloggers don’t have comments disabled. How can we have engagement when RU-vid limits that part once video is made for kids. Also how can you get on kids tube? What are their requirements? Thanks in advsnce
Thanks. This is helpful. My kids were making videos 3 years ago and we stop because of life. Recently because of Covid they wanted to start making videos again. I noticed they don’t get as much love as they use to now I understand why.
@@DavidWalshOnline They've been into parody videos and DIY. Being home all day has made them very creative. you can check out their videos on this account. Your honest thoughts on the videos will be appreciated. again, thanks for your video.
So in a few words, you won't earn money from your kid's channel. PERIOD. Or not? Because many kids channels owners say they still get revenue but much less since 1st of January. Is Dailymotion a worth to try alternative ?
I'm helping my daughter make videos about guinea-pigs, chickens, horses etc. And I've uploaded them as not for kids - I know children and adults make similar content. Will this be able to get monetised? I also noticed on a few videos her comments keep being switched off, I thought it was me not doing the settings properly, but is RU-vid doing this? Thank you for any help.
Hi thanks for the useful video David, I subscribed. Im making a new kid's channel and have merch to add but think I can't do that as a new channel without views/subscribers, is that right?
Earning money on the web is an exceptional help in solving monetary issues. Just visit *4 N e t J o b s . C o m* and follow the very easily understood method. I obtained 646 usd the previous week
I still believe there is money to be made in the kids arena as long as you continue to offer great content. We are dissapointed by this ruling but will continue to make kids smile with great content! Follow us and Dont give up hope!
@@DavidWalshOnline all good we get the Hot weather already but summer starts 1 st January lots of fires around ...got to be vigilant..best wishes David
During this pandemic i was very busy working and finally we decided i have to stop so i can focus on him. Now he's a big fan of youtube also wants to see himself on YT. Thanks for the tips!!
My question: I created my channel which is related to artwork. My channel is not monetized. If I want my video is made for kids, then I will get more views. But Can the watch hour of my video add the watch hour of monetization?
i have so many questions! my daughter who is 3 loves watching video games being played. like kids games that are played and recorded. Would that count if i wanted to start a chanel for her to just play games on her ipad as it screen records? We watched one today on a chanel that was live with about 10k viewers and other vids we have watched ive seen had 2,3,4 million views ... someone explain to me if we can get paid this way making this kind of content? She loves the kids games & so do i lol
Thanks for the marvellous tips because I need these badly and I have started my kids channel recently so I have so many queries regarding kids channel kindly make more videos regarding kids channel like niches on kids channel how to find vlog niches for kids channel etc...
Thanks for the helpful info. My child and I just started a new RU-vid channel yesterday. Just a quick question. I understand how affiliate marketing works. However, how would I recommend a product on a kid's RU-vid video? Wouldn't that be a form of advertising to children which may still be breaking the FCC FTC rules? Anyone have any recommendations or info on this I would be very grateful if you would share it.
Fantastic. Make sure to join us on Saturdays for the Lockdown Livestream at 6pm UK time, 10am Pacific, 1pm Eastern and I’ll answer your questions live on the stream 😎
@@chilluxtheduck8023 even videos made for kids ??? I been told you cannot earn money from youtube if yiur videos made for kids.. please confirm if you knkw, thanks
Minh Thư AU no no if you put ads in it you make money as long as your monetized i would recommend the video to be 10 minute s long to make money good day
I don't have children, but thinking of creating a RU-vid channel for kids on a particular life skills topic. At first, I had thought about targeting the parents with RU-vid channel, but I think I want to switch to kids as target audience instead. This may be stupid question, but I'm wondering if you create a channel with kids as target audience, how do you earn affiliate revenue? I mean, kids generally don't have money to spend or at least don't use credit or debit card or do online shopping, so would they ask their parents to buy it for them?
Question - if my channel has a mix of contents, half for kids while the other half are for adults (for mothers, in my case), is it still possible to monetize my channel through the videos that are not made for kids? Or do I have to still create separate channels?
Thanks alot for very good tips I will add my videos may be art craft or informative. But sir still we see children gaming channels are monetized how that?
I am so sad :'( I just created this channel for my son and only learned that I will not be able to monetize with kids content. I wanna cry, I was so excited and had so many expectations. Someone help :'(
Thank you. My RU-vid channel is new so not many views or subscribers as yet. However a video I marked as for kids is getting the most views. As my income comes from drawing viewers off of RU-vid to my website, I don't use RU-vid advertising. I might make more, or even all content from now on children's suitable. I may even take my for adults fine art channel and change that to a children's channel in the future. I don't need RU-vid's advertisement money.
You are suppose to be 13 to have a yt, so because of that you just have to be 13 to monetize videoed but their is a subscriber and minutes watched requirements
If we are not able to monetize the channel, can we put links to cash apps and Gofundme in the description area? II have no children in the work but it is a cartoon book that is read.
Thank you for the tips. We've just started our educational channel for kids made by creative kids. Looking forward to expanding our knowledge and ideas and giving useful resources to parents and children.
Me and my daughter just start chanell during quarantine ,main thing is that we all enjoying with lovley time with our kid. I like your litlle chanell . Best of luck in the future ☺️👏
