Hi everyone! Todays video features one of my good friends and shows her preparing mugwart to be made into tea leaves. It is a surprisingly simple process that anyone can learn, it just takes some time to do. So please give it a watch and don't forget to like and subscribe! I'll see you next time!

I love how calm, relaxed they are and how patient they are to stand there for hours preparing it.

People in the United States tend to not differentiate between Mugwort and Wormwood, which are different species of Artemisia. Wormwood, used in the making of absinthe, is considered somewhat risky to consume and is mistakenly associated with hallucinations. It doesn't cause hallucinations, but it does contain a compound that can cause convulsions with too high of a dose. Mugwort is considered harmless, and is drunk by many here before bed, because it can lead to clear and pleasant dreaming. Because some people get the two species confused and may use the names interchangeably, it has led to a lot of confusion about the safety of Artemisia Vulgaris L., common mugwort.

I am growing mugwort and I would love to try this method when it's ready. I have dried mugwort arriving today, but I know it won't be nearly as tasty!

Such a beautiful video! I just gathered my first mugwort today. It is touching to know the time traditional Korean culture puts into this plant to prepare a tea to be shared with family. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Kamsamida. Thank you for sharing. I have mugwort plat for more than 2 years I don't know what to do with it. I leave it till it flowered and hundreds of bees flocking on it. But now accidentally I watched your video. Now I know what to do. My question is what will you do if you have no electricity and you roast it in a woodfire stove to control the temperature?

Wow, I never realized how much work is involved in the process. Beautiful, thank you for sharing! What area of the united states is this located? I have 3 different mugwort varieties growing at my house in Texas, they look different. I would like to try making tea.

What a beautiful, sweet video. Thank you for sharing this process, your deep friendship, and memories of your family and Korea. I started harvesting mugwort this year and drying it to make tea and face wash. I will try roasting it multiple times and see how that goes! This must be how you get those beautiful, round tea cakes. Korean culture and language are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I'm grateful to be part of this wonderful community keeping herbal medicine alive. ❤ Love from Egypt.

Where do I get that big basket? I see them on youtube for tea and I can't find them for sale online. I need to buy one or two--but big like the one your friend has. thank you!

I want to try it but I don't know how to find the heating thing she is using. My electric skillet doesn't go that low of a temperature. #1) what is the tool used to heat/roasting? #2) Can you give a general location of where you live so I know when to pick it in your area? This way I can use that info to learn when to pick it in my area. Thank You Very Much! From southeastern USA

What is the purpose of the roasting and processing? I just pick some stems and leave them to dry somewhere, picking off leaves to make tea as needed

Isn't mugwort bitter or is that just me
@spicencens7725
@spicencens7725 2 месяца назад
It's bitter! But I'm wondering if their preparation lessens that bitterness. I'm thinking of trying this method, rather than hanging to dry.
@loopycare
@loopycare 2 месяца назад
I have never made tea this way. I usually clean the leaves, then steam them to reduce the bitterness, and dry them in my oven. I just tried this method today. I have a lot of questions about how long you dehydrate and roast each time.
@Zepster77

Younger plants are less bitter
@koistya
@koistya 3 года назад
This process looks time-consuming. Why not just wash the whole leaves and dry them in a dehydrator? I see that dried whole leaves mugwort on sale has many good reviews.
@naturalhongja122
@naturalhongja122 3 года назад
If you just dry the leaves the flavor is harsh but this way you mellow out the flavor and much more enjoyable.

some of the best things take time and to skimp on the time really hits the quality.
