Note: boil or steam your chopped ginger and garlic for a few minutes (until soft) BEFORE adding to the plate. Jamie does this in the same pot as the broccoli and cauliflower, which gives the vegetables a nice flavor.

Hi Bryan, I just want to add that since your viewers are passionate about health and longevity, that if you chop your broccoli and cauliflower and let it rest in room temperature open air, then it allows the enzyme in broccoli (myrosinase), which is activated when chopped, to convert more glucoraphanin into sulforaphane, thereby doubling its content! Sulforaphane is the strongest known anti-cancer compound known to us in our food! Same benefits apply for cauliflower. Also, steam the veggies instead of boiling for maximum nutrition preservation. Just want to share for those who are extra passionate! 🙌

I've been doing a dish like this for about five years. I only boil the veggies for about 3-4 min. I season it with a little salt and pepper, then add a table spoon of Bragg Liquid Aminos, and about a table spoon of Flaxseed oil. The taste is amazing. If you use potatoes then boil for about 10min and add the veggies in the last 4 minutes. Super easy and super good for you. You can use different types of beans for variety instead of lentils all the time. I use tin beans as they are quick and easy.
@shaynaformity1384
@shaynaformity1384 5 месяцев назад
If you're doing the calorie restriction that's part of the Blueprint Protocol, it's important to use lentils, and especially black lentils, for the increased nutrient density. Also, beans contain more phytate than lentils, which reduce absorption of minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium. That's why the recipe calls for lentils and not beans.

I do similar stuff. Carrots, onions, red bell peppers, chia seed, garlic, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, extra virgin olive oil and an egg. This is what I eat daily. Btw many of these veggies are just placed raw in glass jars that I store in the freezer. I put the lid off and microwave it a bit so it gets unstuck and I can throw it in a pot and boil it for a bit..then add garlic seperately and olive oil once its a bit more cool. Every 5 days I add a can of tuna in it.. other 5 days I eat rutebaga with meat sauce.. I switch between the two. This is only for lunch of course which I have it at 11 am.. at 5 pm I eat some mushrooms with sweet potato, onion and another clove of garlic. ...... my deserts are yogurt with honey. If I fancy some acrylamide in me I dont eat bread but rather make myself twice a month a pizza with mushrooms, cheese tomato sauce. regarding my workouts. Simple squats, bicep curls while holding 2x 10kg dumbbells. I do 3 sets of 10 reps of that.. then I do 20 bicycle crunches and call it a day

Carrots are not natural, they have artificial sugar and size. Just to put a fact here. In nature as it is, there are no carrots, bananas nor tomatoes like we find in markets. google up "wild bananas" and such. Watch out! also: NEVER BOIL your veggies, eat them raw, or in case of some hard stuff like potatoes and brocolli, STEAM IT. if you boil ANYTHING it will not leave much, just fiber and flavour will be lft, the nutrients are all gone... Never boil food! If you want a warm meal, just heat it for a warm temperature, NO BOILING! By the way, eggs have bad cholesterol. Go for a vegan diet and be 100% healthy. Follow this man protocol, he asked a human body what it needs, and the diet IS VEGAN, that is a scientific FACT. 🤩

This is flawed in so many ways. Firstly, why are you eating so many root vegetables, and vegetables in general? Vegetables are not optimal for human health. Many of the nutrients that support the thought of them being "superfoods" are not bioavailable, meaning our body cannot absorb and use them. Vegetables are also extremely high in defense chemicals From a biological standpoint, the leaves, stems, roots, and seeds of a plant are what keeps it alive and gives it the ability to reproduce and pass its DNA onto the next generation. If vegetables did not defend these parts of them, they would not live, they would not reproduce, and they would have gone extinct. Thus, due to the principles of natural selection, vegetables have evolved to contain defense chemicals that deter predators from consuming them and thus have a better chance of survival. These defense chemicals make the plant taste bitter, give you bloating, joint pain, inflammation, etc. Other unwanted compounds such as oxalates are very much present in all of the foods you mentioned. The part of the plant it does want us to eat, however, is the fruit. Fruit is the least toxic, healthiest, and most nutrient dense source of carbohydrates homo-sapiens have access to, and are evolutionarily designed to seek out. They are not highly defended with the aforementioned defense chemicals, because the plant wants roaming animals to eat their fruit, digest everything but the seeds, and poop them out, where the seeds are then provided an optimal environment to grow. Furthermore, the most nutrient dense protein and fat sources are from animals. Ground beef is humble, it contains much of the connective tissue modern humans often miss out in their diet, and it is very affordable. Next up are organs. Organs are magical. They contain SOOO many essential nutrients in their most bioavailable forms, and our bodies love them. Liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc. And finally, cow meat is the best meat. Cows are a ruminant animal, meaning they have three-chambered stomachs, and thus can filter out much of the garbage that we put in their feed. With that being said, grass-fed grass-finished is always best (it is $5/lb where I live, and many areas that I know of in the US, so don't use the excuse that its not affordable). Besides beef, chicken and pork are plagued by low-quality feed of soy and corn, and their adipocytes (fat cells) then accumulate harmful fatty acids such as linoleic acid, and then we eat them, and also accumulate linoleic acid in our cells and cell membranes, causing cell fragility, inflammation, insulin resistance, etc. Avoid seed oils for this reason! Avoid linoleic acid like the plague. Fish are also something to be avoided (especially larger fish such as tuna), due to their accumulation of heavy metals in our polluted oceans. Arsenic, lead, and cadmium are prevalent in these fish and should be avoided at all costs, because they are no joke. If you want fish every once in a while, opt for wild-caught salmon (not atlantic/farm raised)

@@jasonR2 oxalic acid in vegetables is reduced best through boiling. It reduces the soluble oxalate content by 30 percent to 87 percent. So at least that is fine. It seems all that fiber comes in handy. Besides you get to absorb vitamins and minerals. Egg just gives me the essential amino acids. Regarding fish yes of course I agree but im a cheapskate. I'm not sure how much more benefit would salmon give me in my part of the world. All I need is some omega-3 DHA & EPA through it.. chiaseed can give me only ALA. I would have to avoid the metals I agree but hmm.. well at least I eat it only every 5 days.. 6 times in total each month. Regarding the meat sauce im eating..yeah i think thats from pork sadly. I used to eat liver but I got lazy for cutting it and prepare the 6 meat sauces from liver to freeze - meal prep for whole month. I hope my body can cleanse itself from all of the bad stuff. Hell I even stopped using shampoos and toothpaste. All that flouride messing up the micriobiome in the mouth. Gonna just use baking soda and a soap bar.

Thank you for sharing this recipe Bryan. I am currently building a shopping list on Whole Foods for the ingredients and I am happy with what I see so far. I can make this for less than half the price of what I would spend on fast food for one meal. I recently subscribed to your Blueprint stack and I am excited to make both part of my daily nutritional intake. Just over two weeks ago, I cut out all fast food and HFCS based drinks from my diet. I have also been restricting my caloric intake to under 1500 calories per day by consuming vegan protein shakes, organic green vegetable juice, steamed vegetables and healthier animal protein like chicken, eggs and 96/4 beef. I am currently down 18 lbs and my pain and inflammation have reduced significantly. For some background, I was 100 lbs over my maximum ideal weight when I began my health and wellness journey. My mid-term goal is to get there and maintain the weight before year's end. I know this sounds like an aggressive time schedule, but in 2017 I lost 45 lbs in 45 days by doing a green juice cleanse. This won't be anything I cannot handle.

I just tried it and it is pretty good, very filling too. I steamed all the veggies instead of boiling them. With tomorrow's meal, I am going to blend the cooked black lentils, half of the steamed broccoli, steamed ginger, steamed garlic, 1/2 the cumin, lime and apple cider vinegar for the lentil based porridge. I'll then take the steamed cauliflower and mash it up with the rest of the cumin and more steamed garlic. The mushrooms and rest of the broccoli off to the side. Olive oil and hemp seeds drizzled over the entire meal.

Thank you for this! This video clarified so many questions I had reading the recipes on the website and pdf. I hope you’ll do this for all the recipes ❤ the only request I’d add is to include the dry weight of lentils and mushrooms since most people buy and store these dried for cost/budget reasons and because it doesn’t make sense to weigh lentils after cooking else you’ll almost always make too much or too little. For other recipes using grams over volume is also always preferred because it’s way more accurate and clear.

I'd also love to see his complete list of recipes! For lentils, perhaps it's an idea to just measure how much it weights before or after and then just remember it for next time?

You can cook the lentils in bulk once a week and then just add 1 cup of the cooked lentils each time you prepare the recipe. Saves a lot of time.

The claim that enjoying a meal is a “waste of 34 minutes” is unfortunate and indicative of a reductionist approach. Food is not just fuel for the body but also nourishment for the soul…

This is how I cooked it today Boiled the broccoli, mushroom, cauliflower, ginger and garlic together as told in the video Then I medium heated mustard oil on a pan, added sesame seed, cumin seeds and mustard seed, then added all the boiled veggies and chopped garlic and ginger. Then a pinch of turmeric powder, salt, pepper. At last a teaspoon of lemon juice. It was super tasty and healthy.

I microwave vegetables previously washed with cold water for the same number of minutes as they weigh in kg at full power of 800 watts. For example, I microwave 400 g (0.4 kg) of vegetables for 4 minutes at 800 watts. They are then al dente and retain all the vitamins, mineral salts and other health-promoting compounds. I'ts better then steamed.
