Made this, it was really nice, 200grm of yogurt is probably too much and is more than 3/4 cup, it was virtually pouring consistently out of the processor, I'll try again soon.
As Chef Tom said, it is a wonderful vessel for delivering Curries, Dahl, Tandoori Chicken, and a whole lot more. IMO the texture and flavor of this recipe makes it not only suitable, but desirable for many different applications. Viewers have already suggested tacos, pizza and more. Now ... please make this recipe for yourself and let us know how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
I made my own naan last summer for one of our Sunday family dinners, which was actually your chicken Shawarma recipe. Shawarma on the Napoleon, naan on Kamado Joe. It was so good
Chef Tom, you did it again! My go to naan recipe was previously from a famous grill master, who I won't name, but I am a huge fan of his as I am yours. Anyway, I like yours better, so yours will be my new go-to for Indian naan. Thanks!
Now, granted, I buy my naan, but as I am a trucker, it's just a little hard to have all of this in my truck. I get the toaster size and make up my own chicken salad. Great snack or lite dinner on the road. Haven't eaten regular bread since.
Great video, learned something new, Messy=Artesian! Need to tell my wife that the next time i make a mess in the kitchen or anywhere else Thanks Chef Tom
Thank you so much, exploring different cultures through their food and at times fusing them together is what keeps cooking interesting. Thanks for watching!
Looks delicious! Gotta make this just with some plant-based yogurt as I have a family history of Cancer and need to avoid the estrogen in dairy--thanks for posting
couple more things to cook to make a tandoori mixed grill. tandoori chicken pieces , seekh kebab and lamb tikka. Folks will love BBQ ing those at home.
Yummy! I love naan bread and will definitely try this recipe as they look really delicious. So far one of my favourite naan recipes incorporate cooked sweet potato in the dough (in fact roughly 80% of the dough) but sometimes a straightforward white naan is what you crave so I look forward to making these.
Hey, you even pronounced naan properly. Need to still work on daal though 😂 Love your videos Chef. Watch every single one and have tried most. You know your food.
I always have some of these in the freezer for my favorite lazy dinner personal pizzas. Just assemble your pizzas bake at 375 for 10ish minutes then broil for a minute or two waaay cheaper than delivery.
Great question. We actually use ghee regularly in our kitchen. I didn't run this by Tom, but ghee is common in Indian cooking, that may be why he chose it. It has a richer, nuttier flavor than butter and it has a higher smoke point. Thanks for watching!
If it's any consolation Chef Tom worked on the line at an Indian restaurant when he was in Culinary School :). On the other hand, it's a compliment when a Chef takes a traditional food and puts their own spin on it, which in this case, introduces Naan to a whole new group of people. Thanks for watching!
You should try Naans with Beef Chapli Kababs and (Coriander & Mint) chutney , it is by far the most tastiest combination. Reference: Ultimate CHAPLI KEBABS : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rj9LXnVkHlg.html
Naan is supposed to be exposed to open flame. It is typically made using a tandoor. At home, we make naan using a pan. We stick it to a pan (iron pan) it should not be non-stick, and then expose it to the flame by flipping it. If you search for a naan recipe and watch an Indian video, you will get what I'm saying. I feel this recipe is more like a roti, cause it was not exposed to the open flame. The most distinct flavour of naan comes from the smokey flavour of tandoor. But i liked the recipe you shared... It's easy....
I hate people who insist on some imagined version of authenticity and preach it with religiosity. I doubt many homemakers in India use a food processor either. Possibly they cook it in a tandoor too. The fact is that there is no single recipe for naan. There are many. And this is one of the many. The results sure look good to me. Chill.
