in north we don’t use uda and alligator pepper, we use kulli kulli , cayenne pepper, masoro( black pepper) ginger maggi and salt, its the proportion that makes it taste different, and everyone keeps it a secret, we call it yaji

Looks so good 👍. Quick tip for the alligator pepper/uda, Try to beat it and remove d seed before use. It doesn't make it bitter that way. D seed is what makes it bitter.

Once I saw the Uda and ehuru I almost cried. Where will I get it here? The recipe looks delicious!! I have given up on trying to imitate the aboki flavor, now I just want suya that tastes amazing! I love your recipes. They're always a hit! You're amazing Sisi Jemimah, thanks for always delivering content. The moment I lay my hands on those two, I'll be trying this recipe. Without the kuli kuli of course, I've never been a fan.

Well done, but i must say; As a Hausa person you shouldnt use any cut of meat you like. We hausa named it suya because of the cut of meat used, we have other variations of suya such as Balango, kilishi and soo on... which vary in taste, based on the cut of meat we use and the style in which we finish it. Generally everyone refer to our grilled/smoked meats as suya, but true every Hausa person knows the differences and our secrete ingredient is kwulikwuli, as we eat a lot of spices and peanuts and you're supposed to use the peanut oil. We out spice in everything. Even in all our drinks. 😂

Definitely! There's something in their spice that you just can't nail regardless of how hard you try. I've tried several modifications but can't quite get it right. This tastes like the store bought versions which isn't bad TBH but I prefer the Aboki version 😀

@@SisiJemimahsRecipes May also be due to the fact that you grilled in the oven. Would definitely turn out better if grilled over fire. Natural fire usually adds a unique taste to food. I'm gonna try this over fire. I know it may not get it to taste like the abokis but I'm sure it would be real close. Those abokis are just super cool doing this!
