This video will show you How to Resurface Concrete Steps with Newcrete Concrete Resurfacer product. If you have an old concrete slab or concrete steps, chances are that it looks old, cracked, and worn out. Fortunately, concrete resurfacing products such as Newcrete make it easy to give old concrete a fresh, new look.
To resurface concrete or concrete steps with Newcrete, you will need the following tools and materials 🛠🧰:
- Concrete resurfacing product: www.ctscement.com/product/new...
- Concrete Broom: amzn.to/3TWCseh
- Concrete Finishing Trowel: amzn.to/3i6bHai
- Drill with Mixer Attachment: amzn.to/3EtTYRD
- Sponges (optional): amzn.to/3UgZYmJ
- Concrete dye (optional): amzn.to/3VgF2wO
To resurface concrete or concrete steps with Newcrete, you will want to follow these general steps:
1. Clean the Existing Concrete Surface.
Before you can resurface concrete, you need to ensure that the existing concrete surface is clean. A “clean” concrete surface is one that is free of any dirt, debris, paint.
2. Select the Right Concrete Resurfacing Product for Your Application.
I recommend the Rapid Set Newcrete Product.
3. Mix up the Concrete Resurfacing Product According to the Manufacturer’s Recommendations.
Typically, concrete resurfacing product will be a “pancake batter” consistency once it is mixed up.
4. Moisten the Existing Concrete Surface Prior to Application of the Resurfacing Product.
Before you apply the mixed up concrete resurfacing product, it is recommened that you moisten the existing concrete surface.
5. Apply the Concrete Resurfacing Concrete to the Application Area.
To apply the concrete resurfacing product to your existing concrete, it is recommended that you dump out small amounts of the product and the spread it out evenly with a hand trowel.
6. Apply texture to the concrete surface using a “Broom Finish”.
After applying the concrete resurfacing product to your existing concrete and smoothing it out evenly with a hand trowel, it is generally recommended that you apply a “broom finish” to the concrete surface.
A broom finish provides an aesthetic textured surface that hides any imperfections in the concrete.
7. Allow the Concrete Resurfacing Product to Fully Cure.
After applying your concrete resurfacing product and applying a broom finish (if desired), simply allow the concrete resurfacing product to cure according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Typically, these products cure rapidly and are ready for foot traffic in as little as 2-4 hours.
8. Apply a Concrete Sealer (if desired).
Although a concrete sealer is not required, it can provide a few notable benefits such as:
- A sealer will help to prevent staining of the concrete surface and will help to prevent water discoloration.
- A sealer can “tint” the surface of the concrete - giving it a darker look.
To apply sealer to concrete, I recommend that you roll the product onto the concrete surface using a foam roller. However, you can also apply sealer using a sprayer.

It’s a technique editors do to make you watch the video again. That slight detail in the edit probably got the video 20x more views. People rewatch because they missed the final product raising the viewer attention statistics over %200 for that one viewer. In return the video is going to be boasted in the algorithm. Everything is done in a specific way for a reason…

@Andrew-dw4kb
@Andrew-dw4kb Год назад
@@mattschatz4864 you don’t normally “retouch” concrete. If you mean slippery when wet, that’s a texture problem… You have two options here. Add something with texture, or texturize the concrete. I NEVER recommend doing such a thin concrete floating for a drive of any kind. So that leaves you with adding grit to a epoxy or paint to add grip. (Don’t recommend most paints, but they will be much cheaper…) The second option might be to add texture by removing concrete in a reasonably aggressive fashion. Options might be sand blasting with granite or certain slag. Maybe a grinder? (Don’t like this one) In the end all these are just hokey ideas that could work, but are not industry standard. If I was pitching a customer on this, I would pitch two ideas. 1 repave. You tear out the old and put down 5-8” of fresh concrete with a good life span. Or 2: apply asphalt. 2-4” would be plenty. It’s cheaper and can work really well. I have to assume if this is concrete it is either really old, sees a ton of traffic, or it was very poorly done and with the wrong mix. But idk without seeing it. If your sold on this floating idea, get ardex. It’s a brand. Top of the line. Best bang for buck no questions asked.

It really depends on the overlay, some products need bare dry substrate, others moist and some a chemical liquid in place of water and or bonding agent. The best I've used was a three to five part system depending on color and finish and could potentialy cost the customer almost as much as the concrete did in the first place. Either way if you don't follow the manufacturers instructions word for word and step by step your doomed before you even start. Also if it's not expensive it's gonna look like shit and probably won't last, in my experience at least.

Now it's time to cover it with some stone work or tile. the junk you put on can be removed pretty easily with a chipping hammer or hammer and chisel since there was no bonding agent used.

I feel bad laughing at all these comments 🤣 I think it looked pretty decent and in the end you got the refinished concrete you wanted

Did you add a bonding agent to the old surface and make sure it was wet before applying the new layer???

As a skater that used a rub brick to resurface curbs this maybe a game changer

Power washing isnt enough in new Zealand we call this overlay but the concrete needs to have a grinder go over it for adhesion purposes id say that will crack and chip off after a few cold night and hot days 2 out of 10
