Hello again everyone, today we’ll be making some hand pressed organic coconut milk. It’s one of the very easy milks to make like oat milk. A very rich creaminess which can be enjoyed chilled or to make beautiful creamy soap with. I bought this amazing milk maker a few months ago and loving how it performs. It makes the process so much easier
I hope you enjoy the video, Thanks for watching and happy making milk!
Recipe Information;
200g of Organic Coconut Flakes
600g of Distilled or Spring water
Two or Three ice cube trays with lid
If you’re wanting to drink this you may add a pinch of salt and either sugar or natural sweeteners after you have pressed all the milk out. It is a very concentrated batch intended for soap making you can actually use 1000ml / 1L of water if you’re wanting to drink it. One cube is enough for a 1kg batch of soap. Be sure to consume within a few days after pressing if you’re planning to drink it

George, you are so gracious in sharing your knowledge of soapmaking. I always read, and sometimes, "like" the comments. Some good questions, followed up with wonderful tidbits of knowledge scatter throughout by you. I think I've said this before, but worth repeating ....Thank You!

Thanks for the tutorial, George. It looks pretty easy to use the press. Love the way you fill the ice cube tray. 😉 I go so slowly, carefully filling each cavity individually. 😆

Thanks Elaine. It really is, and super easy to clean. Those nut bags we're a little annoying in the end lol. Oh yes I was like that when doing it in the past, but I quickly learned I could speed it up by pouring into the tray when tilted for a much faster and oddly satisfying pour 😂🙏🙏🙏

You are a mine of gadget information George. So glad I watched this even though I know how to make coconut milk. I also had to give up using the nut milk bag for the same "squeezing" issue and have just been making my milk using the coconut powder, However, I am off to Aldi today (we have one in Gawler) to see if I can find one of those gadgets so that I can use the flakes again. Thank you for the demo! 🐾🥰 PS I have just poured a batch using the Neroli Bergamot you told us about. Smells divine!

Thanks so much Marion. Oh I hope you find it, they seem to be out here atm. Aldi only brings stuff in when catalog changes so hopefully they'll have some soon or you get lucky and your local store has some! So nice using the flakes, I have made some for home and it's delicious. Oh very nice, that neroli bergamot is amazing! Just love it 🙏🙏🙏

I have a beautiful soap I'm making that's named for it's fragrance, coconut lemongrass, but the coconut shreds I was adding as exfoliant were oxidizing a little brown during the cure. Only solution was to rename the soap toasted coconut :-)

Thank you again for a wonderful video George! 😊 Do you have suggestions for using fresh coconuts instead of the dried chips/flakes? I ask because where I come from coconuts are in abundance. Also does coconut milk powder work?
@DawnOrganics
@DawnOrganics Год назад
Thanks Shweta, much appreciated. You can absolutely use fresh coconut, can use the same method, blend and soak, then strain. You can use coconut milk powder, I find making your own is much better quality and all done at room temperature 🙏

Thank you for everything. My question is how to make rose fragrance oil stand out in the soap please?
@DawnOrganics
@DawnOrganics Год назад
Thank you. Can add a little cedarwood to it, going to have to test yourself, some fragrance oils just aren't totally soap compatible and the scent will fade as it cures 🙏

Hi! We use only 1 cube of this coconut milk for a 1kg batch of soap? And then dilute it with distilled water? Is that really all the coconut milk we need for such a batch? I have been encountering sweating in my coconut milk soaps. So this is the proper ratio then?
@DawnOrganics
@DawnOrganics Год назад
Hey Aileen. Correct. 1 cube per 1kg of oil if your recipe. Store bought coconut milk is about 10-20% ratio. Doing a 3:1 ratio in this recipe is about 35% coconut. Much more concentrated than store bought. No need to dilute, I add these cubes to my oils when melting, and I give it a good stick blend before adding the lye solution. Are you getting sweating from your own coconut milk? or store bought? I haven't noticed any sweating at all 🙏
@aileengonzaga4648
@aileengonzaga4648 Год назад
@@DawnOrganics I live in the Philippines sir. We've plenty of coconuts here. The way I did it was to add 1 cup of hot water to 1 whole coconut meat (shredded). This makes abt half a liter of coconut milk. And then I use this coconut milk (50%) added to water (50%) as the water part in making soap batter. So now I know it's definitely way too much coconut milk. And I get a lot of sweating, esp when it rains.
@kathya739
@kathya739 Год назад
@@aileengonzaga4648 Do you make other cold process soaps that don't have coconut milk as an ingredient? Do the sweat the same when your humidity is high. My soaps sweat in our high humidity months if I don't run the central air conditioner, or use a product called Damp-off where I store my soaps until cured. Hope that helps, but George knows a lot more than I do in soap making.
@user-fz1ij5gp6w
@user-fz1ij5gp6w Год назад
I see some of them put yogurt in the soap, what is its role? Thank you.
@DawnOrganics
@DawnOrganics Год назад
It will make the soap feel more conditioning and it will also create sodium lactate naturally. So your bars will lather up nicely, and become nice and hard after cure 🙏
