thanks for the video. this guy is a good teacher, he wasn't like blow your mind amazing but he was very knowledgeable and just kept moving right along. I never got the urge to start falling asleep which I think is important.
Hi, it a easy process. Once you have blended your pulp, you then add your sunflower seeds and allow the pulp to air dry to complete the papermaking process. Don't iron, as this will cause your seeds to be sterile! I did this as a library program with teenagers and it was a hit. Depending on where you are in the US, btw March-May is the ideal time to plant the sunflower paper. Good Luck!

we use to make paper from old newspaper. After it dry, you can design it whatever you want to. Making cards for mothers day, fathers day, birthday or something else...
So at what point do you size the paper? Obviously you cannot use any liquid medium on what you made in the video without size. Ink or paint will just spread out into the paper fibers. Was this an oversight or is there another video for sizing? You seem to imply that the paper is finished, but it is not if you intend it for painting or writing.
In my case I find that this is a great way of saving. I make paper crafts and a lot of scrap paper goes to the trash. I found a new way to save money and recycle!! :)
If we're recycling white junk mail envelopes and want to make handmade paper without any ink, we cut away the printed parts before the blender step. Inks behave all different ways depending on the ink and 'finishes' on the paper used for printing. It's up to the papermaker to decide if the handmade sheet should have 'speckles' from the ink, or turn out ink free.
I like how he used more paper to make that single sheet...not counting the recycled paper, he used 2 "cover sheets" to facilitate the drying of the new paper...huh
You're right. Arnold Grummer passed away in 2012 after a long and wonderful life. He left behind thousands of sheets of handmade paper. Every one was full of color, beauty, and made from 100% recycled wastepaper he found around the house. His life goal was that any person of any age or ability could make their own recycled paper, too.
