That was so fun to watch! Brought a memory of when I was only 12 years old or so I tried to make rose water. I filled a mason jar with water and then packed in rose petals. I would swap them out, put fresh petals in for 7 days. Ended up with rancid water. I can laugh at it now though. I might try again one day feeling inspired by this video AND how to do it correctly! Thanks! 💚🙋‍♀️

I finally started making my own fragrances. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm prepared to put in the effort. You, as a self-taught perfumer, definitely inspired me to start and just see where it would take me. And while it's at times difficult, I'm also having a lot of fun just experimenting. It just takes so much time to actually get to know all these materials and how to use them effectively.. But like you said in a previous video, you shouldn't expect immediate results!

Exactly, it's because of one of his earlier tutorial videos is where I learnt the drops method and how I don't need proper equipment, 10 months and a half later and my skills and knowledge have expanded, ended up making some pretty good DNAs , obviously had alot of bad ones in the beginning, all it takes is commitment, but it's all thanks to Fragranceviews on his tutorials, because I wouldn't have known how to start

Lucky for you I don’t even understand how all the fragrance oils don’t mix together maybe I’m just dumb but I think just for example if you wanted the top to be orange neroli and cedar wouldn’t that also mix with what you wanted the middle and base to be how would they not mix and how would you keep them from not I know a good bit about what I need to get and how to do that’s just something I can’t understand I also don’t know where to buy all the oils to put in

I remember teaching my grandson how to make a full English Breakfast. You would have laughed, he was so small we had to get a little chair for him to stand on. He wasn't a bit worried that he might get splashed with hot fat, and luckily thanks to my watchful eye he didn't. I am proud to say he did a great job of it, and even managed to get the yolks of the eggs nice and runny. Great days I remember them fondly.

I haven't played doing this in quite a while. this video inspired me to start again. I didn't realize how much I missed doing this until I (sort of) tried this formula this morning. I purchased my ingredients from someone getting out of the hobby so there are alot of things I am missing, and haven't added to my collection yet, like patchouli. so I tried this formula replacing the patchouli and clearwood with an equal amount of sandalwood, and replaced timbersilk with iso e super. will definately try remaking this with less iso e super. also made the formula from your earlier perfume making video and replaced the lavander with cardamom and it is amazing. sorry for the novel

Perfume such as that is usually 100% synthetic aroma chemical, so no natural essential oils / absolutes.. but most will use a certain number of captive molecules, which means the synthetics used you can't buy in the normal world. They are patented under the fragrance house, so only those perfumers working for that company can use them. So it's most likely you won't be able to copy something like that.

I'm going to ask a relatively complex question. So here it goes: What it takes to take the next step from being "home perfumer" to someone who can actually make their own products and sell it on to the people? (In the first instance I will not think about IFRA regulations and general regulations etc. Even it is of course another interesting topic and highly significant).

Good evening Peter :) I would like to thank you for the huge amount of information you share and in a very simple easy to understand way. Your videos are useful and informative, especially to beginners like me ! I aim to become a famous perfumer in Abu Dhabi and ultimately world wide ;), so my question is, lets say I use the drops method and come up with something i LOVE ! what do i actually say to the companies that make perfumes in bulk. What information would they ask me to provide so they can re-create my special mix ?
@FragranceView
@FragranceView 4 года назад
You would purchase a scale, and you can convert your drops to weight.. and work out a total formula based in Weight Percentage, and submit them that. Ultimately by the time you practice enough to make something good enough, you'd have naturally purchased a scale by then anyway

Hello there. What makes niche fragrances so special from some of the best makers. Stuff like Francis Kurkdjan, initio, amouge, Nishane. Is it quality of notes they get the materials from? Or is it skill and how precise the recipe is. Is this really all it is?. Cheers
@FragranceView
@FragranceView 3 года назад
Sometimes it can be better quality materials but not all the time, some niche use many cheap synthetics and few naturals. It's not even skill in blending, I would say it's the style of perfumery... Main stream designer brands create certain style of perfumery to fit mainstream taste. Niche tend to go outside of that boundary and make unusual, different, more unique blends.

I am someone thinking of getting into making fragrances but I have a question that’s been buzzing in my head I need to ask. I did not know that we can make fragrances with essential oils to begin with. To me this alone was an eye opener lol. My question is, do high end frags use essential oils as well or are they using something different to make their fragrances? What does Tom Ford or Parfums de Marly use when making their Parfums? Only essential oils?
@FragranceView
@FragranceView 4 года назад
There's not many fragrances in the world that only use essential oils and nothing else.. very, very few. Even if it's all natural perfume brand, you'd also be using Absolutes, Tinctures etc too.. Brands like Tom Ford and Parfums de Marly will mostly use entirely synthetic aroma chemicals probably in the region of 95% + synthetic, with just a highlight of the odd essential oil or absolute - hope that helps!

Are you wanting a legal professional brand? Or just selling things on the low key, on places like Etsy? Because no one will care if you just do it on Etsy as home made stuff.. if you want a professional brand, then you need to do your formulas in weight percentage, and send off the formula to a chemist to get a safety certificate, then create a PIF product information file, all the paper work, and upload to the EU Portal of cosmetics
