Hey Mandy! Thank you so much for these videos! My question - do you keep your printify on manual for order processing due to personalized listings? I think this the one thing that keeps tripping me up. Or if I follow your exact steps will the orders still go to “other orders” since there isn’t a SKU by doing it in Etsy first? Hope that makes sense.

If there are no skus they will always go to Other Orders and will sit there until you create the design for it and go through the import process 😊

Hi Mandy First of all let me tell you how much I appreciate your hard work making this videos. I learn from you so much ! I just recently opened my POD shop on Etsy and I listed personalized items from the start, but I wanted to test it first how it works so I purchased some items by myself- from my other Etsy account ( I have 2 shops). I purchased in the same order 1 personalized shirt plus 2 other items that weren’t personalized. The 2 regular items showed up in Printify but the order for the personalized item never showed up in other orders . I’m quite sure I did everything correctly ( with teacher like you how hard can it be 😁) I’m suspecting it has something to do with the mixed order , but can’t be sure. Did it ever happen to you? And if so how do you go about it? Thank you kindly for your time to answer.

I was super nervous about personalization when I first started and honestly waited to dive into it longer than I should have - it's so much easier than it seems and ultimately ends up being a great way to have a listing stand out from the crowd to be able to offer the customization. @@studiomdesignsco Okay, so question, without having to remake the entire listing for some of the items I already have available in my store, is it just as simple as removing the sku's from the individual variants and changing my mockups? I have a load of beach towels that I'd like to add customizing to, and I don't want to lose some of the favorites I've made on them but removing and reposting them.

Definitely keep the ones that you already have up - copy the listing, remove the skus, change the mockups, update tags and title so that you take advantage of the SEO for personalization, and then just make sure you turn on the Personalization field in Etsy. Definitely way easier to do it that way instead of from scratch with a new listing 🤓 Bonus: link to the new customizable listing from your original one and say something like, “For a customizable version, check out this listing: (listing link)”. It’s a great way to keep people in your shop 🤓

Yep, that’s what I would do - one of them is the existing one that is getting some favorites as-is, and then the new duplicated would be for converting into a listing with customization options 😊

Thank you so much for all you tutorial Mandy! They have been extremely helpful as I am navigating this world of being an Etsy shop owner. Still struggling with understanding of how to have two items in one listing when each items comes in different colors. Such as having a sweatshirt option in certain colors and then having a tshirt option in other colors all in one listing. Because when ordering from Printify they don't have the all same colors available for tshirts and sweatshirt even for the same brand from the same print provider. I would appreciate any advice! Amazong as always, Mandy! What would you do if a customer requests an image or phrase that is trademarked? For example, if you were making a customizable shirt or mug and they ask for a certain phrase or send you a picture of a trademarked cartoon character. Thanks for everything! Hi Mandy, I followed this through all the way, but let’s say a shirts size is suddenly out of stock. Since the Etsy listing is not “fully” connected (wasn’t started through Printify) how will the customer know it’s out of stock? Or will they not know until I find out myself when I go customize their order, then I’ll have to message them and tell them?

Love your tutorial videos! If I have a shirt design that's available in both customizable and non-customizable versions, should I price them differently? If so, by how much? (What would you recommend?) This is for a school shirt and the customizable part is the school location. So the orders I get are group orders for the class from different campuses. @simpyPODwithMandy - Hi Mandy, LOVE your channel -thanks for all your great content! I have a question about completing the Printify part of the process...once you send the item through and you see that Printify is fulfilling the order do you also need to track Printify's progress and add the tracking number to the order once they provide it or does Printify push it through to Etsy and we (as sellers) do not need to do anything? I just got my first POD order and am just EXCITED and nervous that I am going to screw it up so wanted to ask. My order is "In production" state with Printify so a huge THANK YOU for your training on that. :)

Woohoo!!! Congrats!! 🎉 99.9% of the time Printify will automatically send the tracking back to Etsy and the order will be marked as complete. I leave the .1% open because every once in awhile the integration hiccups (or a delay). As a best practice, keep an eye on your “ship by” date in Etsy for the order. The order should clear out as complete before that gets too close, but if not then you’ll know to check on production (sometimes it’s just slow and sometimes it’s complete but the tracking didn’t transfer, in which case you simply copy/paste it from Printify). It’s rare there’s an issue like that, but I always try to make sure new sellers are in the habit of keeping an eye on orders, especially on the Etsy side (vs a “set it and forget it” attitude) 😊

What if you list the item in Printify first, then push to Etsy? Skews are created. Is completing a personalized order the same or did I mess up doing it that way? I love your methed and it makes sense. Should I go back and relist those items?

You can do it this way too (I’ve done it both ways and some people prefer one method over the other). If you so start in Printify and publish to Etsy I do recommend removing the SKUs in Etsy under variations so that when an order comes through it will go into the Other Orders tab in Printify and not get mixed in with regular orders 😊

I am pretty new to Etsy and print on demand. I already put about three personalized sweatshirts on store. I did not do it this way wondering if I can go back and edit everything. I thought personify did this for me and I just put it in the personalized part when you have the option on Etsy. 🤦‍♀️ this is a little confusing for me.

HELP!!! I'm so discouraged... I've been wanting to get into personalization for months but was afraid to do it. Now I see why! I have watched many youtube videos about how to do this, but I get stuck right out of the gate. Here's why: I will make my design, lets say, " (team name) baseball mom" . I save that as a PNG, but when I go back to personalize it, I can't change the add in! That would be the "team name". I can't go in and remove that and add in the team name that the customer would want. I can't alter the original design! What am I doing wrong??? HELP!!!

Hi Mandy! Don't these orders just disappear on printify if the customer orders a standard product along with the personalised one? I read in a comment below that these appear under regular orders but actually doesn’t just the standard 1 appear and the personalised one gets lost? How do you handle this? Thank you!

I’ve watched and rewatched this whole series, thank you! I am confused as to why when I put “hidden” in printify and then change things in Etsy and Publish, why still shows as hidden and not published in Printify. Am I doing something wrong?

It doesn't update in Printify automatically, you would have to go back in Printify and unclick the ' Hide in store' box and click publish at the bottom

How do prefer to do a custom/personalized listing when you have multiple colors-but different sayings? I know Shawna said she likes to do the most automated way-for example bride niche-she only chooses 2 colors white for bride and “pink” for the crew, so when they order a shirt the bride gets the white -but as far as sayings she said she likes to offer at least 15 and then a custom choice in hopes they choose one she already offered. so then when they place an order although custom is an option -IF they don’t chose that it’s just like any other automated order. Do you do that type of variation? I assume you can only do this with 2 color shirts tho since size needs to be one of those. Ty

So typically I leave the two variations as size and color and then I have the customer fill in the personalization box to indicate which saying they want on each shirt and then I remove the skus so that nothing is automated. I prefer to have the control over it when I’m putting together the personalization in Printify and importing, so I find it’s just easier to go through and assign the products when someone orders. It allows me to still offer multiple colors and not have to copy/paste in a million skus (which can lead to errors if you’re not careful). I also prefer to save myself some time by just creating the initial basic template in Printify and then using the mockups to add in the customization or saying options (instead of having to create every single one of them in Printify in order to get the skus that correspond). Totally comes down to personal preference and I tend to just keep things simple 😊

I’ve watched your modules multiple and recommended you numerous times as well! You have so much valuable information and insight that others never hit on and if so…it’s on separate videos and you are lost in the sea of videos! This is not to discount other successful POD YT and there is at least one other one that is also very calm and motivational to her viewers. But idk any other YT”we who put up master class courses for free and that’s worth a million bucks to us beginners especially ones who can’t afford to buy all the course and extensions that end up being 3/4 of what they already put on YT which is very disappointing!! The orders on the others tab are essentially any the come through without a sku. In the case of personalization I typically work on them one at a time and import them as I go. So I may have a list of multiple orders there, but I will personalize and import them one at a time. Hope that makes sense, let me know if that didn’t answer your question! 😊

Ah, yes! I have had customers order more than one item being personalized and the order showed up under “Others” and then you simply add the correct product in and import them together as one order. If you have a mix of items in an order (for example, 1 item is a standard product and 1 item is a personalized item) then they usually show up under regular orders and you’d need to make sure you edit the item that’s personalized before submitting it for production. I promise it sounds more complicated than it actually is 😅

Maybe this is a dumb question but Canva seems to hate me. lol HOW do I save a design to customize at a later date? I swear Canva seems to overwrite all the things I make. I can't seem to find any info on this online. I name the design, save to a specific folder, but often when I go to look the folder hasn't got all the designs there. I'm sure it's something I'm doing or not doing, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. P.S. Love your channel. You explain things so well and you're so generous with your knowledge!

Beginner TIP: You must save an actual Template and not just the usual PNG, but no one shows you how important or how to do it. It’s different in Canvas, Kittl etc.

Thank you for these very informative videos. I have all these design ideas for personalization and I really want to do it, but even after watching your video...I'm still terrified I'll mess it up. Question please...when you create your template and mockups on Canva...do you use a specific size for each or do you use the suggested "template" for say a t-shirt or mug, that Canva provides for a new design?
