How to make a Powerful Soldering Gun using old transformer. Materials: - I am Using 220 - 12volt 5A old Transformer - Fiberglass Sleeving - Wire copper 1,5mm 4m long - Piece of wood - PVC Pipe - 1 pc switch Thanks for watching!
I used to have no soldering gun, untill now! Thanks to this tutorial, I was finally able to solder the wires I needed to make the soldering gun in this video work.
hi.. this video is awesome but you never show how much the output voltage given... i want to know also how much is your power source input voltage...? good job
It is amusing how people ask questions the video clearly answers if you watch carefully. Obviously some electronics knowledge is helpful so you would understand the basic principal here. This can also be done with a 120 volt primary transformer too. Really the only hard part is finding the fiberglass sleeving, and wire clamps. Otherwise one of the easiest projects you can make. If your not sure about something, do what I always do, experiment, that's how you learn :)
The bigger, the better. To be honest you can find out how many watts the transformer can dissipate and guess if it would be a good option. As an example if the secondary says it's 12V at 2A, it's good up to 24 watts of power. You could push your luck to 30 watts, and intermittently good for up to 60 watts. If the transformer gets too warm to hold while using, you need to stop for a while until it cools, or else think about using a bigger transformer.
There are formulas where you can put in number of turns on primary, primary voltage, and desired secondary voltage. Or you could leave the primary as is, and put on a few turns on the secondary and see what voltage you get. If you didn't get high enough voltage, then add a few turns. But the point with such a soldering gun is to have very little voltage and high current for quick heat up time. So very few turns are used on the secondary. ( For low resistance winding.)
You Need 0,25 Volts On Second Wire To Heat If U Have More Than 0,3 Volt, So Cooper Will Overheated And Will Not Soldering Because It Got Charred & Lost Heat Transfer Measure Your Voltage On Ends Of Second Wire In Load I Think 2 Turns Of Second Wire Is Too Much For Overheating The Cooper 1 Turn Will Be Enough, But Get Fat Big Wire, So Much Bigger Than U Have, To Get 200 Ampers Current 0,25V x 200A = 50W Or More = 300A
