Hello my loves! The long awaited print tutorial is FINALLY here, yay!! It should help give you guys a good starting point and guidance if you're curious about learning how to make your own prints. It's definitely a more simplified & easily digestible version of the actual entire printmaking process, which has a lot more nuanced skills and difficulties, but hopefully this tutorial can give you guys a good high level look. Enjoy! :)

This was all so informative and helpful! I've been wanting to sell prints of my artwork for a good while now and this video will definitely help me towards that goal. Thank you! Also, if you ever get a chance, do a video where you discuss how you package and ship your prints. In the past, I've used tubes, where I carefully roll up the prints and slide them into, as well as cover them with protective paper and then sandwiched them between stiff, flat cardboard and then slide into a large flat box or mailer. I'm still not sure which method is best. They both have there pros and cons.

Your prints are STUNNING! I print @240 dpi because I can’t see a difference between 240 and 300 (I have an old Epson 2200). I would recommend your viewers test dpi and find the point of diminishing returns for their printer if file size is a concern. Congrats on the Pro 1000! That’s on my wishlist.

Many thanks for the helpful video. I have purchased a fancy printer by EPSON two months ago, since it was the best I could get in my country. It has 6 pigment-based inks and I was so grateful for that (standard was 4 up until now), now I see it probably still isn't enough :D And honestly, I don't think you are not good enough at explaining yourself or editing videos, I understood the point of every video and it gave me a lot. I often don't watch, just listen to you while I draw (the painting style is very different than my watercolors) and I am grateful for this content. ♥

The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system ru-vid.comUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Right now I print my prints at a printer lab that professional photographers use. I've found that this works best for me since I am not in high demand yet and don't have the money to invest in a fine art printer. The prints I order always turn out beautifully and high quality (and they usually arrive the next day!) so if someone here can't afford a fine art printer, check out millerslab.com. There are also many other professional printer labs out there too! 💜

Brilliant tutorial. I see so many amateur artists getting this wrong and selling low quality prints made without archival inks. I don't think they have any comprehension of how quickly they can fade and the damage you can do to your reputation. Do it properly, as instructed in this video, or pay someone to do it for you.

Hi Happy D. This was a great informative video on the how to and quality equipment recommendations. You covered the upfront cost of the equipment, the paper and the ink replacement, but have you calculated your cost per print? This is the price that I feel would be most helpful to know for anyone deciding between using a commercial print shop or printing at home. What size do you print most frequently, how many prints of that size can you make before you need to replace the ink and, using only the ink and paper cost what is the price per print for that size? Then what is the difference in price printing on glossy vs matte, as the glossy is likely to use less ink? Thank you for sharing your art experience with us all!

Thank you SO much for this video. I was thinking about making prints myself or not for a while now, and just wasn't sure about the equipment. I already have a great scanner (The predecessor of the one you have, bts. Epson perfection V370, about half the price but pretty much the same functions. Barely any editing needed after scanning my Copic and Aquarell paintings), and now I know wich printer I should get (I think it will be the Pro 10, I'm more into the smaller stuff anyway). However, until I can afford that (I'm german, so I just can't spend my money on the spot, I need to save up at least 3 times the amount of the sum I want to spend), I know of some good copy shops and online print sites.

Honestly, I really wanted to do prints. I make my art using iPad so I don’t necessarily need the scanner. But after watching all the cost that it would be necessary to make some I contacted a few suppliers and came up with a pretty good deal. I would pay them like 10/20/30 pieces in advance but they will only produce them for me when the costumers pays for the print. And it came down to spending more 1.70$ or something like that per print compared to the price I would spend at home but I won’t need the set up and they can make me 50+ in just one day of it ever is necessary. And if I pay for more prints in advance they will even do a larger discount. So, long story short, selling the prints for 25$ those 2$ make no difference, it’s lesse of an headache that I would have doing it myself it allows me to fully create and spend time on my craft, costumers & website improvement since the production is being taken care
@brunoguerreiro5314

Oh and they can do super wide and big sizes too if necessary, winch I charge way more for and the profit is way bigger, sizes that can’t be done with neither one of those printers. It was an amazing partnership

Only question I have is - you mention that a larger DPI means you can upscale prints to be larger than their original size. Is there a specific DPI you use during scanning when you know you're going to be enlarging? Or do you always stick to 600? Thanks again 😍

WoWW! Awesome. Thank u and good day. :) The only problem with making huge prints seems to be the signature...the signature of the artist too will become proportionately larger. Wondering if there is a way to overcome this.
@MaryDraws
@MaryDraws 6 лет назад
Paint the picture without signing it, take photo or scan the painting without signature, hand sign your prints of the painting. Then sign the original painting. It's an option anyway if you're worried about a giant signature but I would still prefer a big signature over none. Call me paranoid lol art thieves are everywhere!
@vidyawitch
@vidyawitch 6 лет назад
That is such a smart idea. Signing later in the prints sounds like a professional approach. Now when I think about it, I've heard several artists doing the same. I totally agree with the art-theft problem. At the same time, I wouldn't want to buy a print where the signature overpowers the artwork. I definitely want the artist's signature, though. Good day. :)

I have an old Canon Pro 9000 which I have just fitted with a CISS to save on cartridge costs. Essentially I am a photographer thinking I really should try to sell some of my pics (Sunsets, birds). I might have to think about upgrading to a newer printer though.
