In this step-by-step progressive house production tutorial, I (almost) ONLY use the stock plugins that come with Ableton Live 10, and you can download it for free and play ’til your little heart’s content - breaking apart my methods and using them yourself.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make music like Ben Böhmer, Lane 8 or other progressive house artists (like those on labels such as Anjunadeep), this will give you insights into how to achieve similar results.

This video is absolutely awesome. It's basically my first time with Ableton. I followed along with the video, using all audio effects, samplers and plugin. The only one missing was the Decapitator, but even tho, I manage to recreate from scratch all the rest without any trouble and, with I have learned from this video, I could also add some of my own flavor to the track haha Thank you very much, I'm gonna follow all of your others genres tutorials to learn more and more :)

Just managed to recreate this using my MPC One with only factory sounds. I did nick your jungle sample off the video but the rest were made in the mpc. Took me out of my comfort zone and I learnt more about the mpc in one night than I have in the last 6 months. Couldn’t get the reverb to sound as good as yours but got pretty close. Great easy to follow tutorial - thanks. Next up drum and bass tutorial

@@alan3035 sadly I haven’t managed to make any music I would like to share lol. I’ve been at this on and off for 20 years but it’s a more of hobby. I’ve owned the MPC 2000XL from new but sold it about 10 years ago and couldn’t resist the mpc One when it was released. I’ve got ableton but never use it. Although I always feel it can out perform the MPC in every way. I’ve also dabbled with the iPad using beatmaker and NanoStudio 2.

These videos are great. Here's another quick small tip, you should use VSTs instead of AUs for projects you share, that way the project opens fine for Windows users as well. Even though in this case you're mostly using the built-in stuff

All of these have been killer. On the vocal part, I have found complex not complex pro can have better results sometimes when trying to pitch a vocal.

Very VERY useful tutorial, and not too slow! People can always pause and rewind if things went too fast, but this speed was perfect! The bass tips and the hot-swap function will change my life haha! I'd have to try out your way of sidechaining for myself to see how it differs from a sidechain compression on the kick. Also, I had an idea that maybe you could do a video on making interesting build-ups. Not just your average reverse crash or any other white noise build-up, but being creative with effects as delays, stutters, reverb or even just silence to increase tension. I'm really not sure how to use those effects for build-ups or changing between different sections of my songs. Anyway, great video. I'm buying your products this year for sure :)

Fantastic video, exactly what I've been looking for. Very engaging and led me to complete my first song because it's working in a genre I enjoy listening to and would like to produce music in. As a result I've now signed up for the Music Theory for EDM Producers Course, my only issue is not having found Wills videos and courses sooner. :)

Love your videos! Learn so much. Thank you! QQ, how come you chose to use a hi-hat as trigger for the SC, instead of using the input EQ on the compression plugin to filter out low-end from the kick? The kick in this case actually has a clear high end attack, no?
