I love how she has people with different personalities on the show. Not all TV personalities, but all just people who are passionate about what they do.
Yossi has the chillest vibe. You could be like 'Yossi, the house burned down' and she'd respond 'Yeah, cool, we'll fix it'. Loved this video - thank you both!
This comment is just my personal "thank you" to Claire - She is the most inspiring force in my baking adventure. From buying my own baby spatula, to exploring new recipes, to learning new techniques. And I actually just invested in a stand mixer, so don't even start with this, haha. Just used it to made my first brioche dough, I loved it in every possible way.
Usually the recipes on this show are a bit too complicated for me (more fun to watch than do myself), but this one looks very make-able-I’m definitely going to try it!
I can’t remember if she did this one on the show yet, but a recipe from the book that is equally as easy is her apple crumble cake! It is super super easy, and I’ve made it at least five times now! No equipment required, and it comes together in 10 minutes or so.
Yossy: "And make sure you click the bell notifications to get--" Claire: "Oh yeah, we don't know what that is, I don't know about RU-vid." Claire, you're killing me here--
Came back to give Snacking Cake praise! I bought the book the day after this video came out and I've made 16 cakes from it. EACH ONE is a success and totally delish! Highly highly recommend
I hate pumpkin pie but love pumpkin baked goods!! I’ve been thinking about making my pumpkin walnut bread with cream cheese frosting. But now I’m going to make this instead! Thanks Claire!! So grateful for your videos.
Made this twice and it was absolutely delicious! Love the addition of olive oil as it gives it a fruitier, nuttier taste (plus makes it super moist!). We were able to interchangeably swap the pumpkin for butternut squash as it's not available in our area. This recipe is indefinitely apart of our family's favorite dessert recipes now.
Guys...Claire is soooo very humble and kind. the way she listened and "absorbed" all the tips and advice carefully, attentively...and also the way she interacted with Yossy...urgh...! so nice
Loved seeing Yossy - Snacking Cakes is a really fantastic book - the cherry coconut almond cake is awesome, as is the gingery sweet potato cake. Whenever I'm in the mood for baking but don't have a lot of time, I reach for Snacking Cakes :)
Same here. I love Snacking Cakes. I’ve baked so many things from it and they all turned out to be easy and delicious. I really suggest you to try the plum cake if you haven’t already. It’s basically the same classic recipe that everyone uses but the sugar is perfectly balanced in that one.
I’ve been eyeing this book since Claire put it at the end of a video a while ago but this video has convinced to move from my wishlist, the cake looks so tasty !
I love this recipe, and I love the idea of dessert _people_ , *and* I love anything Claire does in a kitchen including accidentally lightly dusting her mascara with APF. However, I'd like to advocate for more Claire/production staff banter episodes.
Thank you so much for making baking accessible! I love recipes where the perfect isn't the enemy of the good. I made the 8 X 8 version of this and thinned the glaze a bit too much. I had put the cake on a round plate with an indentation, so some glaze ended up soaking into the bottom of the cake. It was soooo freaking good.
I made this twice, and the first time I didn't have any allspice. I bought some and the second time was honestly twice as good. It's a really nice cake.
This was phenomenal. I tried a few pumpkin bread recipes and this one is by far the best. The spices taste amazing. Ordering her snack cake book for sure!
“and make sure to click bell notifications!” “oh yeah we don’t know what that is, i don’t know about youtube” claire saffitz... queen of dessert youtube... doesn’t know about youtube... cutie
Totally bought this book after watching this video. I read the preview and when it said the batter might be ready quicker than the oven preheats, I knew these were simple recipes for me.
I’m trying to cut down on using my stand mixers because I’ve been lazy since I had my two KitchenAids. Which I definitely love. Plus, they are heavy to pull out and they are time consuming to clean. At least I still have my hand mixer for quick jobs.
I made this in the middle of the night to bring to a aquatic entomology fieldwork picnic the next day, and it was perfect!! definitely could be picked up with our cold hands, I made too much and it kept for days, it was just the right amount of flavorful without being rich, and was definitely a recipe you could end up memorizing and doing a bunch it was so easy.
You're both right about the thick glaze. I would do it even thicker and have it flow even more slowly. It will still flow even if you make it very thick.
Tried it as cupcakes and I got 11-ish out of a single recipe. (25-30 minutes at 350°F) Had to stretch the batter with a few tablespoons of water because my pumpkin purée was made from oven baked pumpkin rather than boiled pumpkin chunks, making the end result a little bit thicker than the one in the video. Other than that, I thought that the recipe was a little too light on the spices and a little too heavy on salt but that's just my taste. I've rebalanced things to my palate and the second batch is on the cooling rack at the moment. Thanks for sharing this lovely recipe! Can't wait to share it with my fellow students as a Halloween treat tomorrow!
I made this as a cake and used a cream cheese icing, (my husband isnt a big fan of maple) and it is hands down the best pumpkin anything I have ever had! 🎃
Claire if you ever read this , you are a HUGE INSPIRATION and your cats are adorable 🐈🐈⬛ And PLEASE have an episode of dessert people with Brad! I feel like it could even be a collab where you go foraging for fruit/berries on "it's alive" then maybe make a dessert on dessert people? Feel like it would be a great reunion!
What a nice surprise; I've had Yossi's book on my to-buy list for a while. Pumpkin bread is one of my favorite desserts so I'm looking forward to making this over the Fall. :)
I loved your interaction - especially how Claire made eye contact with Yossy rather than looking forward and anticipating her next line. This book sounds dangerous (a cause to go nuts baking) since the emphasis is on snack and not gobs of sweetness. Thank you!
