How to make Quick and Dirty Truescale Spacemarines for warhammer 40k 

You know me mate, can't help but add more detail. Very much me too, those old artworks where they are religious ikons in themselves is amazing, I do like the destinction with the mass produced Primaris, but wish they'd done something like include veteran companies or sergeants who are wearing cobbled together relic armour with weird iconography and trophies. Could even have the prims venerate them as almost religious figures, shaman or priests... Feel like I've got an idea for a marine army coming together 🤣🤦

Super difficult right, there's some weird old art with tiny heads I quite like too. Painting is going well just painfully slow, will get there !

@@baharroth_the_cry_of_old_paint Adam Savage from mythbusters does a demo of the benefit of it on his YT channel Tested, he uses it to reinforce joints when using plasticard/styrene as well as a filler

Interesting, I sub assembled when I first got back into the hobby but found it felt like a chore and extra steps rather than enjoyable, I think I was worried as well about making sure everything was WYSIWYG but I don't play competitively so it was a waste of time and I enjoyed building weirder and bigger things more 😂. I do have a pile of grey but think it's easier to put down and pick up a project later on if it's fully assembled, I finish building things and zenithal prime them straight away and then painting doesn't seem to feel so stressful, can I ask what you find challenging about painting fully built ?

@@baharroth_the_cry_of_old_paint yeah I'm in that exact boat - picking up the hobby again after a very long time out (probs nearing 30 years 😬) as my son wanted to get into it and I've become hooked haha! I think I've set my standards too high for myself so as I'm building my thought process is "hmmm that will be hard to get to with a paintbrush so I blu-tack ready to break down and paint later) the result is a lot of models which get primed and then a big job to get painted reassembled etc...) I'm happy with the finish, but it's taking an insane amount of time to get stuff painted and I'm quite keen to get into the game as well!

Sounds like you will end up with an epic painted army but it will take... time 😂 my gaming group try and play with only fully painted models, so it gives strong deadlines for getting things finished to tabletop standard to use, tbh once you've got the core of the army done, and aren't trying to batch paint large numbers it gets a lot easier to add a unit or a special character, think the initial build up is probably the most time/effort I've had to spend on the hobby ! Id probably suggest trying to get some dice thrown with a small list 500pts or so, we found it really helped with motivation to get things finished as wanted to try out new rules and janky combos, I might buy a tonne more harlequins as I want to try out some new jokes 😂😂😂 glad to hear you've got back into the hobby, it's helped me make so many new friends and absolutely love it !

You're absolutely right, I need to get that core army together to start playing and then being able to slot in units / characters etc... Will be great fun with less time pressure. I'm loving getting back into it, it's still got all of that great stuff I loved as a kid but with mountains of extras with lore, painting skills, quality of models, guys like you pushing the boundaries with builds, it's wholesome / incredibly addictive haha! Loving the community online as well, and thanks for taking the time to reply, it's rad! I've got a couple of foam carry cases but yeah they do tend to damage the more delicate models, the brass is pretty good but can get bent out of shape, I'm going to get a magnetic case next year, my friends swear by them!
