Very lovely outcome. Well done! I have a question, I watched a couple of other videos where the icing was whipped before using. I noticed you didn't. Does that mean I can go ahead to pipe my icing without necessarily whipping it up with a Mixer first?
@candlelitconcepts
@candlelitconcepts 5 месяцев назад
I never use a mixer and it turns out beautifully everything (and less clean up). I just make sure I am stirring the wax frequently enough, so no lumps form. Lumps will clog your tip and make piping difficult.

Thank you so much for making this video! Your cupcakes looks amazingly beautiful! Actually I been trying to do the piping cream using soy wax(ecosoy CB + PB), however it seems I couldn't get the temp right when putting them into the piping bag, it was always too soft to form the shape, then i waited a bit and it became too thick and causing the blockage..it was a bit frustrating that i need to cut the bag and re-melt the wax then try the whole process again...it's been a few failed attempt already. Would really appreciate your advice..Thank you :)

Hello! I use a mixture of soy, coconut and beeswax when I make these cupcakes simply because of the piping portion. If you use a harder wax, it will not produce the same consistency that you need inorder to pipe it on to the cupcake base. The harder the wax is, the less time you have to work with it. It's either too soft or too hard... there usually is no middle consistency, which is what is needed. 😀

@@candlelitconcepts what soy wax product are you using? Would you mind sharing the ratio of soy, coconut wax and beeswax you use? I use coco apricot wax and hoping I can mix in soy and beeswax to create wax frosting. Thank you!
@candlelitconcepts
@candlelitconcepts Год назад
@Rose Christian Company Thank you for reaching out with questions. I was buying this wax blend from Aztec Candle but they recently switched products. They no longer have the all natural blend and have replaced it with BW-917. It claims it is the same blend, but I have not tried it yet. You can always play around with blending your own... just remember if you are adding a hard wax to your blend, it will solidify a lot faster and the time you have to work with it will decrease. I recommend only adding 1% of hard wax at a time. I tried 10% my first attempt and that was a mistake! It was liquid one second and then immediately turned solid the next. There was no in between stage, which is what we need.

Wow! So pretty. How did you come up with the wick size?
@candlelitconcepts
@candlelitconcepts Год назад
Hello! I typically reference the wick guide provided by the supplier who I buy the wicks from, although the guides can be off slightly. I always recommend performing a burn test to ensure that you have selected the correct wick size and that you are getting an even burn. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions! Thank you and have a great day!

What size wick do you use for the cupcakes... there are so many sizes and types!
@candlelitconcepts
@candlelitconcepts Год назад
Hello! Thank you for reaching out! There are definitely a lot of wicks available to choose from, making it difficult to select the "right" one. I struggled with the same thing so I tested multiple cotton wicks from candle science and found that they burn pretty similar, regardless of the size. However, that doesn't mean they performed well. In all honesty, I was quite disappointed that these wicks did not burn the diameter they were marketed to burn. So then I tested a zinc core wick and these burned beautifully! My recommendation is to try out several wicks. Test them in a container candle, in a decorative candle, etc. Then pick the one that you like the best and that performed the best across the different products and stick with that. I really don't think you need 30 different sizes, types, etc. I use mainly zinc core wicks because they are consistent, provide great burn radius, scent throw, etc. And I can use them in soy, gel, etc. These cupcakes have roughly a 3 inch diameter so 1 wick is usually sufficient. Just remember, if you increase in diameter, then you need to increase in the number of wicks you are using. Hope this helps! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

You can use whatever wax you want for the base but you have to use the soft wax for the frosting portion if you want to be able to pipe it on to the cupcake. In this video, I did use it for both the base and the frosting.
