Great tutorial. Your tutorials have help me to improve on my model car building skills. Embossing powder does provide a better look than flocking, so I’m going to use it from now on. Thank you and look forward to your next tutorials.

Awesome tutorial, thank you! Embossing powder looks it it has way better coverage than flocking fur. I have been using Ken's flocking fur for so many years & sometimes I can't find colors I need for my projects! I am gonna be trying out the embossing powder now thank you for the inspiration!

You can also use enamel paint instead of glue for sticking the embossing powder, after using both I found that I like using paint more because with glue it gives a bit of a shine, whereas with paint I can use flat black or grey or whatever color and it won’t have any shine. Anyways, great tutorial and thank you for making the videos, they have increased my modeling skills ten fold

Thank you so much. I will try using the clear cement. I usually brush on paint in a similar color and then shake the powder on the wet paint.

I wouldn't know where to start without videos like this. I'm trying to put together a 1970s star trek model bridge kit, but it lacks so much detail it's really hard to visualize how it should come together. I was completely lost on how to do the floor, but, now I know, and it looks a lot simpler than trying to use actual fabric! Liked and subbed lol

Ha, I found this video after getting that same kit! Did you end up doing it? How was the final color? I was thinking that gunmetal might be a few shades too dark but I'm not sure

What type of strainer is that you are using? I tried to use a tea strainer and it didn't seem fine enough of a mesh. Can you possibly link me to where I can find one? Love the channel, great stuff!

@JunsMiniGarage

Thank you. They both look great for making carpet. I prefer embossing powder because it’s in slightly finer shape which makes it look more realistic scale wise.👍

Woah ok I did not know how to do that I saw the scale modeling channel guy do it once but you explained how to do it better than him I have been using Flat black on my models to create the carpet effect
@JunsMiniGarage
@JunsMiniGarage 4 года назад
Cool! You can also use darker paint(black, grey) as adhesive instead of clear glue, since the powder is in grey it will blend in nicely.

The embossing powder can be purchased on Amazon or any craft stores, I use the Ranger brand but any brands should work.

The one I was using in the video is Embossing powder made by Ranger, I purchased them on Amazon, many craft and hobby stores carry them, too. You can also use flocking powder which is also a very popular material for imitating the look of carpet. Hope it helps!

I've seen flocking installed instead. It really doesn't look that good unless you want the shag carpet look.
