This recipe absolutely delicious…you and a brotha had the best looking recipes. Have cooked this with other type of beans but not red beans…yummy. It’s basically Jamaican stew peas…basically the same way…stew peas just spicier. Yes they use the red beans just called peas😂
Black eyed peas with turkey necks and cornbread or great northern beans are always a go to for me and my family. Make this meal since it is winter and cold.
It may not be cold down here in sunny, south Florida but this dish just scream comfort food. and who doesn't love comfort food. Thank you Chef Matt for another recipe that will be on my menu!
Deb….please ssssshhhhh around these people. We as black folks as you call us suffer from those illnesses due to curses and sin. What did God say he would do to us if we disobey him. I use regular bouillons in all my food…bp stay at 122/74.
I literally just made this last weekend and I used TheCajunNinja's recipe here on RU-vid. It was absolutely delicious. My son had 3 servings of it and raved about it the next day. I served it with some jasmine rice, fried chicken wings and sweet corn bread. Ill have to try your recipe next. Thanks for sharing 👍
I made them and this recipe is killer! Best red beans and rice I ever made in my life! Man, you killed it! Y'all gotta to try this! I tweaked it a little bit to my style. Minced garlic instead of garlic paste, not so much red pepper, half water/half chicken broth and it was fire baby! Thank you for this recipe! I ate that pot by myself. That was so good I ate them everyday until they were gone. Everyday! Now I'm going to make a pot for my family on Thanksgiving. I know they will love it!
Lookin good!!! I make them the same way down to mashing. I always add a little crab boil seasoning and always camellia red beans from Louisiana they are the best brand!
The one thing I miss about living in New Orleans on Mondays is red beans and rice. It seems like everyone cooks this on Monday and you have leftovers all week. It's so hard to find pickled tips which are what is normally used in Louisiana, but the smoked turkey is a great substitute. I never thought about it! Thank you for sharing.
Finally someone who knows what pickle tips are. That is definitely a local product. It gives an amazing flavor to beans and all types of greens and cabbage. I really miss cooking my Red Beans etc.. with them.
@@louisebennett9282 it's the best! If you're anything like me,you probably also cringe when people make hot sausage po boys, but they use smoked sausage and not Patton's lol
@@marciaholmes591 OMG yes. Lol, but I've introduced Patton's to a few friends and they LOVE IT. Food does bring people together and our city has some of the best cuisine on the map. So I guess I'll continue to be our city's food ambassador. Great chatting with you ⚘
Presentation, absolutely beautiful! I can smell everything through the screen 😢 it you ever need a taste tester I will more than willingly volunteer!🙋♀️🙋♀️
You know youre on the right track when your food is looking like the food in the video. I taste tested halfway through and damn near lost my mind it was so good. I followed this exactly minus the AP spice he had because i didnt have any but this here was so damn good. On point and perfect. Btw can we just say how fine this man is, that voice plus he in the kitchen. Whew chile im in love.
Matt you are really close for my comfort food. I live in NC and we always have pinto beans and cornbread on standby. If I have time I will throw together some mac n cheese as well. This looked fantastic!!
OMG Looks yummy Rice & Beans is a daily meal In the Caribbean. The rice always have some oil and salt 🧂. Also we use other seasonings to add the red beans like Cumin, paprika, and Caribbean spices! Yummy
Looks delicious, Mr Matt! 😋 I remember trying to make it in my early 20's and it wasn't good. So I never made it again. Looking at you make it seems like it could be easy. I will give another try. Thank you for sharing and inspiring! 💕
Can’t wait to make this one . Your absolutely correct about Better Than Bouillon should be showing some love to you , I got 5 different flavors in my fridge right now and I never used before seeing you use . Thanks again my cooking game is on another level because of your videos
This is rolling on my stove right now! I also took advantage of the special on your e-appetizer series! Keep ‘em coming! All the recipes I’ve been brave enough to try were great! You have definitely stepped up my spice rack, lol!
I love tht you uploaded this today because I swear to you, I was just looking for a recipe for just this! I’m about to have Walmart deliver my ingredients ASAP!
Yeah, nice job bro. Big fan of smoked meat in there. We usually go with turkey neck down here in New Orleans. And give me your address so I can send you some real andouille...lol. You'll throw that glorified hot dog in the trash. I like to pair a nice fried pork chop or three with my red beans, if you know what I mean. Smothered turkey necks go good with it too.
@@MrMakeItHappen Real andouille, Jacobs in Laplace LA. There are a few good places in Laplace and they will ship. Most people in Louisiana use regular smoked pork sausage in red beans though.
And another one!!! One of New Orleans inspired signature dishes. I see 👀 u Mr Make Happen. Dude when are u gonna make our NOLAs Gumbo??? I told u ill travel the 7 seas to frequent ur restaurant, can't wait until u open one. 🤪
Looks great. One of my favorites. You should try to make the Portuguese dish Feijoada. Traditionally black beans, and various meats served with white rice & several different toppings. Slamming good!
Looking good Matt. Do some pimento cheese and homemade bread please. The pimento cheese will be like a topping for the bread or a pimento grill cheese sandwich.
I'm thinking of using the andouille along with smoked pork belly and smoked beef sausage. Not giant amounts but enough you know it's in your bowls. What do you folks think?
I decided to make this today on Thanksgiving. It is absolutely delish thank you very much Mr. Make it Happen!!! I just love what you’re doing in that kitchen!!
Made this tonight, first time for homemade Red Beans and Rice. Was excellent! Easy to make, just made sure to spice it up, everyone was happy! Husband says we are going to be going through some rice! Thanks so much!
I wonder if other states (im in SC) have the Rogerwood sausage brand because I've yet to come across a recipe on YT that recommends it. Just curious because it's so damned good 😋
I just made this recipe of yours and this is the best rice and beans I have ever had. You now have a follower and a fan. I enjoyed it so much. TY for sharing.
👍🏻Thanks to talented creators like you I don’t think I will ever run out of new recipes to try. I am happy I found your channel it has so much to offer. I make RU-vid cooking videos too! I love learning new things from talented creators like you!! I’d love to learn more from you!
The shopping list and directions call for tomatoes. I didn't see where you added that in the video. Should I assume its the paste and add it with the garlic paste? TY
