Awesome video. This helps a lot. I am starting to learn screen print, I find it to be a good skill. I am struggling with illustrator (pics to vector, illustrator set up) so these videos help a great deal. You explain everything in detail, each move. Others talk as we know illustrator already. Hey bro. I use CS5 still. I can figure out why when I draw the line with my pen tool it makes a blue line and starts center and widens as I draw the line. I tried changing the width too and it wont let me change it to .7 inch. Please let me know how to get the black line like you have in the video. Thanks

It's not a requirement, but expanding and uniting them eliminates a lot of weird mistakes from happening

Whats the advantage of using squares over circles? I saw them in your previous video so I tested them out, but my printers said it was harder to line up. Perhaps they arent as concerned with registration as you are, idk.

They're way easier to line up since everything is a straight line, you can't see if anything is tilted on a circle

Your platens mate. How do you position your artwork in illustrator to then match up with you grid on your platen? I've got mine set up in a way where it's the same everytime. Be interesting to see how you do yours?

Consider on your reg marks to use the reg mark stroke, rather than black. The reason you want to do this is that when you do multi-color/sim process down the road, you don't want to have to make multiple reg marks for all the different colors. It will always print off regardless of what color you use. I hope that makes sense. :) BTW it's in the color pallet that looks like a reg mark.

How far down from top would you say to put the registration marks.

Really depends on your printer and how close it prints to the edge. Mine is nearly edge to edge so I can place them right to the top of the artboard

Thank you very much. My printer can do 13x19 but never printed anything that size from it. Looks like some test runs. Appreciate the reply. Taking the plunge from vinyl to screen printing. I think you're supposed to fill the registration marks with the registration swatch so they will automatically print on every film color.
