I had an in person demo of this product the other day from Whelen. This system not only can be useful to Public Safety, but can be used on a Town's/City's entire fleet. In the Northeast, how many times do you get complaints that a plow hasn't been on my street during a storm? Well let me check the map for you. Oh, a plow was on your street an hour ago and his plow was in the down position and his sander was activated. I especially liked the single page to show the entire fleet, show any vehicles that may have a check engine light on, what the code for that light was, and when a vehicle is approaching its oil change time. This makes fleet management easier as everything is in one place. As of now the system is in its emerging stage, but the possibilities of it are exponential.
If two officers show up to an intersection at the same time, do both lights just go red? Or does it know which car got there a millisecond faster than the other officer and change the light accordingly?
