Our roses are getting ready to bloom. We the gardeners, can greatly help our roses to create a full canopy of leaves and gorgeous display of blossoms. There are several things we can do during this exciting time of the year! Enjoy!

I really don't garden in those hot regions and know about that way of gardening only from books. Not sure, if knowledge without practice will be interesting to you...

When is the best time to spray for bugs… evening? Thank you for your videos.
@OlgaCarmody
@OlgaCarmody Год назад
Hi Kristine, the best time to spray would be early in the morning or late evening, when pollinators are still sleeping. Plus you don't want to spray during windy and sunny times. Best of luck with your garden!

Olga, GM! I got a 2 quartz from DA in the fall… very tiny. I got Roald Dahl as well and the bloomed way into early part of this year but my Lady of Shallot which I didn’t prune because it was too small. It’s grown new lanky shots but no bud. I have prune some of the little branches but a deep prune. What you recommed i do to start seeing blooms… i have even summer romance from Heirloom and not doing well either.

There is something going on in the environment that your roses don't like: lack of sun, drought, poor soil? Too much fertilizer, no fertilizer? Please analyze your rose care routine, maybe you can see something there. Meanwhile, your roses are babies and it takes time for them to mature, I know, we should be patient..

Stratford is at least a week ahead of the Buffalo Valley. Only Mr. Lincoln has buds of serious size, the rest likely wait until first week in June. I blame a lack of sun for much of this.

Hi olga.. do you know anything about rose proliferation? My most anticipated buds all look deformed this year :( my friend said it ot because of over fertilization which I'm indeed guilty of. I used a lot of chicken manure this year. I'm very sad :(
@OlgaCarmody
@OlgaCarmody Год назад
Oh, so sad! We all did it and learned the hard way, unfortunately. I will make a video about it, since so many of us are guilty of it. Meanwhile water your roses well...

@@OlgaCarmody Am here after planting some bare root roses in Zone 10. In summer it might hit 80 degrees or so. Can grow anything from bananas to delphiniums... I live in Zone 11, just ten minutes down the mountain... On Maui. 🤔🌻 By the way.. Your gardens are beautiful.. 🎈

Yesterday i made the call to dead head olivia rose austin. As a mature hedge she was overloaded with blossoms and intense rain and humidity are coming this week ,and i dont want the blossom to stick and decay on the foliage. I try to think ahead through every day observation. I dont know how it happened but natures timeing was perfect for a mother's day presentation. I have two large fountain shade gardens to care for ,one insanely filled with hosta of three different varieties,but my best mornings are spent in the two rose garden displays. What are your thoughts on thinning pruneing on shrub roses for adequate top to bottom air flow.
@OlgaCarmody
@OlgaCarmody Год назад
Hi John, oh, your roses are blooming! And Olivia is such a strong bloomer! As for thinning... are they planted very close to each other? I would prune middle stems between the shrubs, and let side growing stems be. I am training some stems on my Lady of Shalott to go outwards with the help of the string. I know, its not a good tactic when you have a big display of roses to care for.
