Do you leave the dampers open the whole time? I didn't even know you could do it this way on a Kamado. Brilliant!

Yep, you want the back heat to be pretty hot for rotisserie so that it gets that intense heat, then cools off a bit while spinning, then gets hit with the heat again.

Hey Randy here, I like to shoot for around 350-400 degrees.

Have you tried cooking a turkey on the blaze Kamado rotisserie? How many lbs do you recommend? I have 2 turkeys. One that is 12 lbs and one that is 11. Please advise.

I have not done a turkey on the Blaze rotis yet. The motor may struggle to handle the load of the 2 turkeys. I would recommend not going over about 18 lbs.

@@BBQGuys I am not planning on smoking two Turkeys. Just one. Glad to be the first on smoking a 🦃 on a Blaze Kamado.

Is there a benefit to the heat coming from the side opposed to underneath on conventional grill?
@BBQGuys
@BBQGuys 6 лет назад
In this setup, the heat radiating from the side prevents out of control flare ups from the charcoal being underneath the bird while basting with something that has high fat content.

Would a deflector work to prevent flare ups? I am planning on cooking a rotisserie turkey for Thanksgiving.
