How to make a Brigid's Cross! Embolic Season starts on 1st February and why not Brighten up your welcome for the oncoming Spring, a very exciting time of the year. When the Goddess passes and breaths life into the trees, plants and the land itself. Traditionally, we would put out a Brat Bride, (a small piece of white cloth) it was used as a talisman for the year ahead.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this tradition. I really enjoyed this video. I am from the States and rather enjoy learning traditions from around the world. I’ve always been drawn to Celtic Crosses. I think because of the symmetry and weaving. Shame on your teacher for calling you smart. You were just a curious little boy who was eager to learn!

Not only the four seasons, but also the four elements, cardinal directions, sacred animals, main moon fazes and sun fazes (equinoxes and solstices), more alchemically we have the four qabbalistic world of Atziluth; yetzirah; briah; assiah which is apart of the YHVH, in the tarot there are swords; cups; wands; pentacles and theist goes on

Ah ... fior gálanta a Sheáin. What a friendly and fun video. I'm scanning the horizon for the new and the old for a Retreat in a week's time (of course!) in the west of Éiriú. May i use the hoop cross idea with our pilgrims? We may have a few children too and your energy makes it not a bad idea at all .. (had me resistance at first. Bit of purist here!) .. Beir bua ! Aha! ... just espied your reply now, (today of all days, of course) ... which makes me want to ramble over to FB and see if you found me! ... A Sheáin, was it you who flashed a cross within a ring at us? That symbol was already living in me very strongly, so when i saw it, it was like 'permission' or a blessing to create same! .. Well, i made one anyway last night. Ah. Just glancing at my first message to you and i've answered me own question. (Slow internet here means the video is loading slowly today) ... Over to fb now ;-) agus beannachtaí na Fhéile duit! xXx

Okay I made mine from Rough Horsetail, or what we call Puzzle Grass, it is hollow and it is a type of Rush and it bends nicely, which surprised me. I don't know how to add a pict to the comments but I can put a link to my post on my blog. My cross is at the bottom of the post. www.evvie01.com/groundhog-day-start-of-imbolic-season-or-st-bridgids-day/ My blog is a work in progress. There isn't much on it.

A very warm thank you for this video. I cannot find Rushes in Central Missouri, it may be I don't know where to look. What I did find is a Rush-like plant by the river called puzzle grass, it is straw-like, or hollow but very rough due to the high silica on its outer surfaces. It is also in segments resembling bamboo in appearance if you only glance at it for a split second. There is a picture here, www.newmoonnursery.com/plant/Equisetum-hyemale. I was so happy that I could make the cross as close to tradition as this, even if it's not from the Isle itself. I will post a picture, or a link to it later, if I can make it with this "Missouri" Rush.

Thank you. It worked way better than I thought it would. We had quite a bit of freezing weather so most of the Puzzle Grass/Horsetail Rush (Equisetum hyemale) was browning but some were usable. I put a link to the post on my blog in the above comment, 2/1/2018. My St Brigid's Cross is small only three strands per season, but I am pleased that it worked. Thank you so much!!
