This is amazing thank you so much I started my esty shop last year (Oct 22) and it was a huge failure 😞. I got a few sales in my first weeks but after that it was dead, but it’s entirely my fault I didn’t do very much research in the beginning and sucked with SEO and marketing. Now I’m about to start my second shop while reviving my old one (cause my first shop is my baby and I won’t let her die) so this was super helpful. Let’s hope 2023 will be a better year for my shops!

And in answer to your direct question at the end, honestly I feel a lot better with your non-social media method of growth. Etsy is one of those areas where there really isnt that many quality youtube videos to learn from. Love your tips on no social media! Can you tell me if you think it’s worth it having so many Etsy shops? Why do you have so many? You think it’s better for sales when things are more niched down, instead of having a ton of different things in one shop? I’m kind of struggling with this in my own shop right now.

I am currently just collecting knowledge before starting my first etsy Shop, and since I don't use Social Media privately, I am very uncomfortable with the Idea of having to rely on those platforms. Thank you for always posting helpful videos. For the titles, is it better to use longer long tail keywords at the front of the listing or to break them down into smaller segments. For example: "Polished Titanium with Opal and Gold Flakes" or " Polished Titanium Ring, Opal and Gold Flakes Ring" Also, would using "women's wedding ring" in a tag and then using "women' wedding band" a waste of a tag or should I use them both? Great video! I'm struggling to make sales and have been open since January, I think it might be SEO but I can't seem to figure it out and it's frustrating. There doesn't seem to be any videos that get straight to the point about SEO, they all just seem to say "think like a buyer" but clearly that isn't working for me! I can't believe you have 5 shops shops that's amazing!
I am definitely happy that they are separated. I have actually been able to balance them because two of them are shared with my mom, and the other three I am simply pushing through Etsy Seo strategy and less through social media now a day

This is great info :) Do you have suggestions for how to juggle multiple Etsy shops? I have a shop now (jewelry mostly) and I'd really like to expand my shop and then also open a second shop for digital products for planning, budgeting, organizing. But the thought of 2 or more Etsy shops at once seems daunting to me. I also have a website but even put a password on it because I had a hard time updating all the things and felt like I wasn't consistent enough on social media to drive my traffic there.
I didn’t realise that repeating keywords was a good idea! I thought finding as many as I could and then distribute them across the title, tags and description. Thanks for that info

I’ve been uploading one digital item to each of two stores (different items) for over two months. One of those stores is 10 years old (and frequently bestseller) and the other brand new. Good prices. Good SEO. Even videos on some of them. Advertising as well….. Sales almost nil. I don’t know why I torture myself by watching videos where someone says they made $500 in the first week…

Hey Lauren, I was wondering what the benefits of having multiple shops versus having one shop with many different items are? I make jewelry but I also make ceramics items and I was wondering if it’s more advantageous to have a different shop for each niche versus one shop that sells both kinds of items?
Multiple shops allow you to focus on a specific target item or category and have a better chance of having your items seen. Etsy shows new items in search terms longer than renewed items or items that are modified. If those items are not viewed nor favored, Etsy drops them to the bottom of the list of items it shows in search terms. If you are relisting or listing new in multiple shops, you have a greater chance of being seen by Etsy buyers.

SEO… SEO is what makes your shop works on its own. I’ve gotten sales from Etsy only and it cause it’s SEO. It’s only about 1-2 sales every couple weeks but I sell stickers😅 it depends on what you are selling too.

Quick question, you said at the start of the video to do new listings every day even for handmade products like by changing out the photos, titles etc what did you mean, do you mean close the current listing of the product and relist a new one or keep the old one and list a new one for the same product? Why so? Keywords should be used in title tags and description to help best identify what your item is so it can be best sent out to customers. Much like a websites blog post!

I do have a question though I can only assume that if we do use social media even if it's just Facebook and Instagram or Instagram and Pinterest being that they are more visual types of social media that we would get a lot more traffic and make much more money in our store correct? This week a small business owner said on her podcast that if she doesn’t post on Tiktok every single day she’s not making any sale… she’s on shopify though but I was so shocked, this isn’t normal
I think this is the downside to relying on social media. If your only business strategy is posting once a day it means you’re constantly relying on yourself to do that task daily. Instead of building sales around a platform like Etsy that drives the sales for you even when you’re not posting!

I opened two weeks ago (I sell digital wall art) and have 40 listings no, but so far... crickets. I barely get 2 views a day on my shop :/ I read about other people selling digital wall art not selling anything for more than three months... I just feel so discouraged. I put so much work into it, but I don't think I'll ever sell anything if people aren't even looking at my shop
First of all, congrats on FIVE shops! I barely have the organization skills to maintain my one shop on different platforms. But I always thought you couldn't have more than one Etsy shop? Heeeey Lauren, new around here!! I've been doing a deep dive into Etsy selling. I did have a question to something you had mentioned. You are currently running five Etsy stores. When it comes to the business registration side of things, have you registered five separate businesses? Or are you able to house all of them under one business, for tax and such purposes? I'm certainly not going to be diving into multiple shops right now, but thinking about how I diversify my products and such in the future is definitely something I want to understand. Not sure what she does but at first I was just selling on Etsy under my Social Security number then when I got an EIN number for my business I think you can just do DBAs for the other businesses under your main one but I’m not sure. 🤷♀️

Thank you for this advice. I make handmade polymer clay goddess figures. They're all OOAK. I did really well during the pandemic mostly with bespoke orders. I was ranking in the 1st or 2nd search page with a few of my items with the most common key words. Then all of a sudden Etsy decided that the result of my key words are mass made goddess figures that all look the same. It broke my heart. I'm now not ranking at all and lost all drive. I'm now changing everything and I'm starting to transition to Clay. I'm working my way and would like to have at least 20 ready pieces to reopen the shop with a new branding etc. However I'm afraid my OOAK creations can't compete with mass made cheap items in the algorithm and also I'll never be able to upload items regularly to help it.
Sadly this is do to the increased trend of goddess figure candles and figurines for home decor. I’d recommend changing up the keywords to include more information on where this item could be used or styled, who it’s great for, etc instead just focusing on keywords such as goddess statue or similar

I already have words such as women temple, red tent, altar, Glastonbury etc in the tags in the hope it will help me distinguish my creations from the mass made ones, but I'm still invisible. When I launch the clay creations I'll definitely have to focus on the idea that the material is eco friendly etc.
I sold ooak for over a decade, and I coached in it too. You have a physical product and it's unique, you should get a social media. Your competitors are using the same keywords so unless you can find keywords only people looking for specifically *your* thing like 'ooak artist doll' you'll struggle to be visible in the stuff that can be sold 100 times over. Get a social, focus on growing that, drop new collections at a consistent time point (say every 2nd sunday) and use the anticipation to (eventually) sell out at launch. I also recommend always trying new techniques- ooak has to look really wow/different, not 'I only made one'. Good luck! 🙏
I cannot say I come from a strong success story with Etsy (yet), but from what I understand, a big challenge for one-of-a-kind items is that you do not get to take advantage of listing scores. I have heard that Etsy gives a boost to items that sell, and your listing can grow from its own successful momentum. Perhaps next tine you list a new item, do it by using the listing of a sold item and changing photos, SEO, description, etc. to fit your new item. Of course, this is not manipulating the system if your new product is quite similar to the one in the original listing. Or if your products are only different because each is made by hand, but otherwise the same design, just say that in your description. And then up the quantity for that item. If you get time, you can always shoot new images of the new version of that design and replace photos... or not. I hope this suggestion makes sense and helps you to build from OOAK objects.
About Etsy ads: What kind of a conversion rate are you having? I sell digital products, and with the low prices there is NO WAY I can make a profit unless I either 1)Get only a small minority of my sales through ads, or 2) Have a conversion rate of 20% or more, or 3) some combination of both options. The problem: 1) I've read to expect much lower conversion rates than 20%. 2)If you don't get that many sales through ads, why bother?
I do not link my shops as this messes with conversion rates. When people just go to look at my shops it will start to lower my conversion and Etsy will stop showing my items
