Hi Stacey, I bought an oil spray bottle from Kmart for $7 and it works beautifully. Just refill with whatever oil you're using! I thought this might be helpful to you and others 😊 thanks for another great video!
Thank you for ALL the varieties of "savory pies!" I'm from the USA and we call them "egg bites," "mini quiches," or "egg muffins." I have even made mine without pastry. The egg solidifies and slips out of the oiled pan very well. However I do use a narrow rubber scraper (like your red one, but narrower) to "help" them out of the pan, if they try to stick. Thanks again for the variety suggestions. I'll have to try some of your suggestions!
I'm really enjoying watching you cooking and reminding of the deliciousness of NZ. Making me feel homesick. I love your down to earth approach with the kiwi uniqueness. Wonderful thank you.
Hey Stacey, I make these all the time when i get a catering gig but i have always mixed the filling into the egg, had never rhought to put the filling into the pastries and then pour the egg over top, seems so much easier, i think you have just saved me a whole lot of time and effort by showing us your way. Thankyou so much! Appreciate your videos ❤
I use the same frozen pastry for my pies. As we are a family of 3 adults, there is often leftovers at dinner time. Depending upon what the leftovers are, is what pie I make. We've recently had Thai chicken curry, Balinese chicken curry and chicken satay pies.
Cooked chicken and mushroom, with onion, are also yum Stacey!! You are making me soo hungry with these! A rainy, horrible day here and that's my kind of comfort food 😊❤
It’s good to watch other people make things because we all do things often how our mothers taught us.. Never thought of putting tomato sauce in the bottom good idea.
Hello Stacey. You look so nice today! And you have a lot of energy. I can tell you are feeling good today. I've kept you in my prayers for a long time now. You're a good person and I felt so sad when you posted the vid about the ignorant jerk who insulted you. Broke my heart that people can treat each other with such insensitivity. Makes me wonder what the heck has happened to humanity. I learn a lot from you. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your message. It can be difficult sometimes and I guess I have learnt to just get a thicker skin about it. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers I truly appreciate it. Much love and Light X
Hi, in the UK we call these Quiche. I make them with many different fillings and several different sizes. Great for parties, picnics, packed lunches and quick meals.
Here in Tassie, we do call them savouries too. I do Ham, cheese, egg, tomato. Bacon Cheese, egg, parsley. Sweetcorn, cheese, egg, Leftover spag. Bol, parmison. Fried cawramelised onion, egg, cheese. Sprinkle of balsamic. Chicken (lefrover) creamed and egg, Tomato, olive and basil. Even Leftover white fish or salmon, eggmix and a caper. The list goes on. One of our favourites to use up leftovers, Love the show.
OMGosh Stacey, the lovely crunch, my kiwi friend who had a café here where I live used to make these, mostly quiche style, pre cook onion and bacon add semi dried tomato, cheese, egg and cream then a pinch of Parmesan on top. She didn’t bother cutting pastry rounds just cut pastry sheet up into 12 pieces and let the edges fall out over the muffin holes. Easy peasy, they looked so yummy I always had to eat one even though I’m egg and dairy intolerant. 🌏👍
I used to make these all the time for my kids when they were younger , they refused to eat family size quiche but loved these mini quiches . Still making them for my grandkids
Hi Stacey, I’ve discovered chopping parsley and freezing flat in plastic zip bags (air removed) is a great way of ensuring I always have parsley year round. Am enjoying all your content on your channel, but mostly admire your determination and ability in soldiering on with your challenging health condition. Thank you for being you … the world could definitely do with more caring “Farmer’s Wife Homestead Stacey’s”! 😊❤
Hi Stacey, I’m doing meal prep this weekend and had planned to make some quiches. Lo and behold your video came up! I’m stoked to get inspiration and tips from your video , so thank you! I thought it might be a South Island thing to call them savouries, but you’re just down the road, so it’s probably interchangeable here in NZ - we’re so laid back, we don’t care so long as it tastes good 😂 It’s lovely seeing all the comments from everyone around the world here, ‘Hello from down under!’ 🇳🇿🌿👋
I like watching your vids, at present I don't eat this type of food, i eat meat based diet, got rid of all the carbs, wow, what a difference, I got fed up being tired, achy, my knee stopped hurting after 2 days, watching your vids is fun
Hi Stacey. Great video. Thanks for 'reminding' me about how great and easy these are to make. I've been doing some cooking for my sister and these will be perfect to make and freeze. Ive been using a wooden spoon for my oven door...works great.
Hello Stacey, great video, thank you. When I do a similar mushroom, bacon, egg mix in muffin trays, I cut the pastry square (same brand as yours) into 9 squares and slight roll (or stretch) out each square and they fit well into the hole. I turn down the pastry corners to prevent burning. This way I only use one and a third sheets for the dozen quiches. 🇦🇺
These are not a thing here in the States, but they need to be. These can be such a practical snack or meal. I'm gonna make some and fill them with all sorts of goodies! Thanks Stace! Love & BIG HUGS to you and Husband
Stacey you have my mouth watering here! If I made those they would be absolutely devoured in seconds by hubby and grown up son. A real hit in any Kiwi household for sure! Edited to add a lightbulb moment: OMG can you imagine these with like a seafood mornay filling? Or spinach and feta? My imagination is going a million miles an hour now hahaha
Love this, I like the idea of roasted veggies and feta cheese, like you say the possibilities are endless. Only one problem with these though, I'd want to eat them all! lol
Those look so delicious! Thank you for sharing this recipe. I hope your garden comes back to life soon, I felt so bad for all your hard work! Best wishes. I love your videos!
Morning Stacey! Im in beautiful, BC Canada and I think New Zealand and Canada, especially BC are very similar after watching your videos and having a few friends from there. I too make these often as handy snacks for the freezer and we will grab bags of them to take to the cabin for quick and easy lunch or breakfasts before heading out on the boat. They’re a family favourite though I call them mini quiche. Lots of love, Tammi
when i make a quiche i like to pop a bit of baking powder or corn flour in the egg mix to stop the filling sinking back after cooking ,,never thought to make small ones or freeze them going to give it a shot
Watching you make these was very therapeutic, you are such a relaxing person to watch. We have these in Australia and call them mini quiches. So yummy. Thankyou for sharing 😊
Made these today for the kids lunchboxes. Absolutely delicious. Thanks so much for your videos. I love cooking what you make and it helps with $$$ in these expensive times
The filling is called quiche here yummy made with pre cooked cases in shortcrust pastry,a sprinkling of paprika is nice on top when they come out oven Lizzie 🏴🏴
Hello, here in England these are quiche. Before the arrival of foreign foods for the masses, I hadn't aunt who had been a school cook, and she would call them "egg and cheese flan".
Made these last night. Very easy and delicious. Gave some to my sister and she loved them. Will make them for my ladies church group when I need something quick.
Hello Stacey. Been waiting for savouries - my absolute favourites and you did proud. I so enjoy your recipes and the energy and love you put into sharing them with us. Your big Dunedin fan Jude
My mum used to make little ham and cheese quiches and she'd put some dijon mustard in the egg mixture which added a nice little extra savouryness, haven't had any of those for ages so I think I know what I'll be doing this weekend.
Thanks for sharing this Stacey. I make mini quiches and put more cream and add Dijon mustard. I’ve made them with things like cream corn, smoked salmon, Camembert, Brie or even crab for special occasions, they’re delicious.
Hi Stacey, Yum love little egg pies I would normally use short crust pastry, Or for breakfast I do just veg and eggs in the muffin tin for breakfasts bits for that hit of extra protein in the mornings. Thanks again for a great video.
Thanks for the inspiration. I just brought myself a pie maker from JB Hi-Fi on clearance (Breville the Quick & Easy Pie Maker - $74). I am planning to make mini versions Jamie Oliver's Steak, Guinness & cheese pie. Bacon and egg versions pies in this pie maker would also be good (with some diced onion!) The pie maker seems to allow you to use two sheets to make 8 mini pies, no cutting needed, it will also be cheaper to run than heating up the oven! I can also par-bake some and freeze them in the ziplock bag, heat them in the toaster oven for a bit when I want to eat them!
Hi Stacey, So pleased you did this recipe, my Grandgirls love wee savouries. Now I'm gonna fill my freezer. Hope your all good, and had a great week. Stay cool! ❤
My dearly departed Nanna baked these between Christmas and New Year (& during the year of course) and used up every last leftover - turkey and cranberry, chicken or ham and tomato, tuna and corn, she also used up any leftover sliced bread for the casing! Thank you for sharing your version Stacey, I can almost smell and taste them! Yummo! My fave is asparagus and feta along with some cheddar 😊
Turkey and cranberry are two of my favourite combinations. I wish we could get turkey over here, other than at Christmas time. You must miss your Nanna dearly X
Hi Stacy , these are yum , I have used square wonton wrappers , 2 per muffin pocket they are also great . The empty plastic oil bottles are also on Temu half the price.😊
When you just said you have winter there,I became so jealous! We have summer which I hate from the bottom of my heart... 40 Celsius degrees for months.. It kills me and I can't wait for the Autumn to come. These little pies are wonderful! Can I freeze them maybe for a quick grab and go meal? This food really something I'd be gladly eat every morning. ❤
Yes! They are like little quiche…Chicken Parm filling sounds tempting or maybe sausage, peppers, onions & pepper jack cheese or mushrooms, Smokey Gouda, garlic and & thyme..or…..omg I can’t stop! Lol…😊 I’m thinking of maybe making a couple different kinds in each tray since I’m only feeding me! These look scrumptious 😊 thanks for sharing😊
Those look delicious, and I bet all your followers are now imagining fillings of their own. Does your local store have silicon muffin trays? Very cheap, and so easy to use and clean- nothing sticks. I love mini pastries so these tiny quiches would be great too. You'd have to padlock your freezer if I lived nearby. Love from England.😘
Oh yum they look delicious 😊I bought some of the ingredients today so i can make the Sally Lunns🤩Looking really forward to them👩🍳😂Have a great weekend Stacey🌸
They look absolutely delicious! We call them mini quiches here in the UK, but savouries is so much nicer 😀. Love your videos, we are going through a pretty torrid time here in the UK just now and its a great distraction, I love your authenticity! ❤
Cheese & Pineapple, cheese and grated courgette, as well as the flavours you have made, are my go to for making in bulk, and freezing. Anything left over in the fridge can be used to create fillings.
These look so yummy. I haven't seen those big packs of pastry at Woolworths, will have a look. Like you say These would be great in the freezer. Thank you.
@@FarmersWifeHomestead I am going to try these, maybe with a mushroom onion filling. Do you think it would work to first saute the filling in a bit of garlic, let it cool, and then add to the puff pastry cup?
Hi Stacy how are you hope you in good health very cold here in Wellington I haven’t subscribed for awhile, your savoury pie looks so delicious can’t wait to try this tomorrow stay safe and keep warm ❤❤
