This tutorial will show you how to create interesting monotype (one-off images) prints using a screen, transparent base, and watercolor.
This technique can be used to create standalone images, bases for printing a design, collage material, or drawing bases.
I am using:
- Speedball screen
- Speedball transparent base
- Daniel Smith watercolors

Yea, the drawing fluid comes out really easy with water leaving only the screen filler. Really fun experience.

Does painting on the screen help if its on a sloped surface? I noticed the paint is dripping down the screen.

I purposefully lifted the screen to create the drips. If you don't want it to drip, keep it flat.

Could this be developed to make tshirt designs? How would you get the screenprint to retain a design you can reuse?

You can make any design, I made my own digitally on an art app of my choice then printed it and draw the drawing fluid over it. U can make as many prints as you want depending on how much screen filler u have.

Can the screen be used on a shirt too?

With the watercolor in the process, no, as watercolor is water-soluble, so it would likely wash away. You would want to use an acrylic-based ink formulated for fabric to use on a shirt.
