Here is a short video on how I make shrimp or crayfish eyes for my flies used for fly fishing.
There are several techniques I have found effective, but simply purchasing eyes from companies is the easiest but also costs more. I picked up these Eyes made by Easy Shrimp eyes from Spawnflyfish and here is the link: spawnflyfish.c...
They are super easy to put on, seem really durable and good sizing, but cost around $.70 a piece. But the time saved might be worth the cost depending on how you value your time.
The other method is one that I use to produce multiple eyes at a time. I’ve burned them, nail polishes them, resined them, added glass beads .... but my favorite and quickest seems to be the black resin and then a clear coat of resin over the top. Super quick, just make sure to put some scrap paper beneath your working area in case you loose a bit of resin so you don’t ruin your desk (I have done). If i am going to be making lots of eyes, I usually pour some resin into other bottles and dip the eyes to speed up the process.
Hope this helps and if you have any tricks you have used please comment below so we all can learn together.
