How to prepare Finnish Mead, Sima?
Ingredients:
4 liters water (I measured with 2 big Coca-Cola bottles)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 lemons
1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
Sugar and few raisins for the bottles. You can bottle this to same soda bottles or smaller ones. Remember to check the bottles and make sure they are not closed too tightly.
Put the bottles to the fridge.
Enjoy sima after 3-7 days.

thanks for the recipe, i'm going to have to give a try one of these days. I'm curious what the alcohol content is though - do you think you can do another video showing the hydrometer reading?

Hi, thanks for commenting! Sorry, I don't have a way to measure alcohol content of sima. And during the fermentation it changes every day. But in Finland also kids drink sima, so I guess it's not much even after 1 week

From some rough calculations, 2.5 cups of sugar in 4 liters is potentially 10% ABV But since this calls to ferment room temp for just a day and then a week in the fridge, using active dry yeast, I would _guess_ somewhere around 2-3% max

And mine was quite ok already in 4 days, but the taste improves if I keep it the whole week in the fridge.
