How to make World's Simplest Electric Train 【
【Structure and How to make】 ※日本語での説明は欄の下
It's possible to get such power using a 1.5V alkaline battery, neodymium magnets (super strong magnets with plated with metal) and a bare copper wire.
A point is that a magnet's diameter is bigger than a dry cell battery's diameter.
And an electric current flows to a coil through a neodymium magnets, and a coil will be an electromagnet only in an area between the magnet and the magnet.
The electromagnet and a neodymium magnet poles repel each other at one side.
The other side poles pull against each other.
They work same direction, and it become a big force.
The phenomenon also continues at a movement destination.
※Another important point is magnets direction
(e.g.) NS battery SN
Thank you for reading.
How about making this electromagnetic train for science fair projects?

@DaveZiffer
@DaveZiffer 5 лет назад
I am pretty sure the magnets are neodymium, for max strength. You can buy them on Amazon (you must get the right diameter though; the link here is just for neodymium magnets in general). But the batteries are a mystery; how do you determine which batteries are made of materials that will allow the magnets to stick? www.amazon.com/s?k=neodymium+magnets&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
@DaveZiffer
@DaveZiffer 5 лет назад
The brand on the battery is DIASO HZ, but that's probably not available outside of Asia, so you need to find a brand wherever you live that has enough iron in the tips and housing to strongly hold the magnets. I plan to buy the magnets first and take them to a store and see how strongly they attract to different battery brands. The battery size seems to be AAA. This probably won't work with AA batteries, which have the same voltage and similar power but would be much heavier. The magnets are certainly neodymium.

Thank you so much for the video! I just have a quick question, when the south pole of the magnets are facing one other, obviously they would repel. How come we didn't observe this when there is a battery put in between, the magnets stay tight on the battery even though the south poles are facing one another. Did the battery somehow shielded the magnetic repulsion between the south poles?
@DaveZiffer
@DaveZiffer 5 лет назад
The battery is long enough that the magnets are too far away from each other to repel each other. Further, the iron in the tips of the battery attracts the magnets regardless of which way they are oriented. The tricky part, though, is to find a battery whose tips and housing contain enough iron to attract the magnets. Probably the best approach is to get the magnets, take them to a store, and try out the attraction to various brands there.

Aashu Rohilla there are certain types of copper wire and magnets, the wire should have no coating you can recognize this by the color of the wire and how shiny it is, it should be a very light color and fairly shiny, the diameter of the wire should be between 1.25 in- 1.5 in. The magnets you use should be neodymium magnets they also have different ratings, I recommend N-35s

+Jana Laporte The "N" written on the faces of the magnets represent their poles. On a basic round neodymium magnet like that, one side will be the north pole, the other is the south. With magnets, opposite poles attract. Like poles repel each other. They are marked such that the viewer can see which order the magnets need to placed on the battery to allow for movement. In this case, using two magnets on each side of the battery, they are aligned as follows (N/S)(N/S)BATTERY(S/N)(S/N) ...with N being north and S being south. If you reverse that configuration, the battery will move through the coil in the opposite direction. And to answer a question that other people are asking about knowing if their wire is "enamel or insulated", just take a knife or similar tool and scrape it along the wire you have. You should be able to see a difference.

My son wants to make one for his science project. We have copper wire (no enamel), magnet, one alkaline battery 1.5v AA. Once we followed the video and put 3 magnets on each side of battery (with opposite force). But it didn't move in the copper wire. We followed exactly with video, why still not work? Please help, thanks!
