Made with colloidal oatmeal and yogurt, this soap is perfect for sensitive or dry skin.
The yogurt is added at trace, right before pouring. Yogurt contains lactic acid which is great for skin. It also contains natural fats, which creates a creamier lather. We recommend keeping temperatures low for this recipe - about 80-90 degrees F for both the lye water and oil.
To help make this soap gentle for dry and sensitive skin, this recipes contains a high percentage of olive oil. Because of that, it may need more time in the mold to harden. We highly recommend sodium lactate for this recipe to help it release from the mold. You may also notice it has a small, dense, creamy lather.

Elegant soap. Just cut today my goats milk, oatmeal and honey soap and got out of the mold my yogurt facial bars. I also always use yogurt in my shaving soaps

Simple, yet elegant! I've yet to try yogurt. I usually use the powdered goat milk from Brambleberry in the melted oils along with the colloidal oatmeal. 😁😉

I just enjoy watching your videos. I feel that watching your videos is as therapeutic as making soap. P.S. In almost all of your videos, I can only admire your glass mixing bowl. It just won’t break no matter how many times you bang that hand mixer really hard! Lol!

Hi there, I am loving your tutorials. So informative. Could you please tell me how long you left the soap in the freezer? Cheers and thank you. 🌷
@bramble-berry

We recommend leaving the soap in the freezer for at least 3 hours to help avoid gel phase and overheating.

Love love love this! When you add to soap calculators do I add 10% in replacement of the 33% for the water discount?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry Год назад
We suggest using a 10% water discount for this recipe

Amazing recipe. When running through soap calculator. What would the lye concentration be?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 9 месяцев назад
The lye amount on the calculator will actually depend on the oils you are using. It's typically around 8% though.
@stancexpunks
@stancexpunks Год назад
I would’ve done a water discount and used that water to add to the yogurt to make it more watery and easier to mix in esp if it’s a thick yogurt like green yogurt.
@bramble-berry

That is a great idea! Definitely something for us to keep in mind for future recipes.

Hello BB, Thank you for all the content. I have built a soap business here in India as a side hustle during covid lockdown, thanks to all your informative videos. Some of my customers live in areas with hard water. they complain that the soap does not lather much even when I use lots of lather mix. I have heard that adding citric acid to trace helps. How much and how do I add citric acid to cold process soap making?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry Год назад
You can add citric acid to your soaps. We recommend starting at 1% and you will want to dissolve it in some water and add it at trace.

Can I use other oils beside oat and shea oil?
@EmeraldsHoneyComb
@EmeraldsHoneyComb Год назад
Yes but then u must run the recipe through soap calc because that then changes the recipe for the water and lye

So how long does it stay on the shelf since yogurth has a rly short date?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 11 месяцев назад
The pH of the cold process soap should prevent the yogurt from spoiling in the soap. The sooner you use it, the better it will be but it should last the full year or so for cold process soap.

To make a harder bar of soap, try using a recipe with solid oils. Sodium lactate helps as well!

Is this a new trend, adding yogurt to soap and similar products?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry Год назад
Great question! Milk products in cold process soap have been popular for a long time. Yogurt is one of many ways to incorporate it.
@MsAubrey
@MsAubrey Год назад
I know that most hot process soap makers use it towards the end of their cook to help with the pour. While I haven't been soaping for very long [only about a year], I think all milk products have been used for a long time in soap.
@keekeejenkins6162
