Yes, it’s airbrush food color and edible or I wouldn’t use it. I use the metallic gold airbrush food color for my gold candy apples all the time. If you don't have a cake compressor, you can test it by using a treat brush and paint it on with one candy apple to see how it comes out.💕
Hello, hello! I am wondering if I can substitute powered corn syrup for the Karo? LorAnn makes a HiSweet powdered corn syrup that is used to make hard candy. Your thoughts will be appreciated.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA oh, thank you so much! I will search for the videos. Basically I’m wondering if I’d substitute the powdered corn syrup for the Karo 1:1, or if it’s a different ratio. Once I know, I’ll try your method and will report back with any successes.
Here's 3 of my candy apple tutorials in which I used Hi Sweet. Yes, that's what I do. I use the equivalent amount I use with the liquid corn syrup. 1 cup liquid corn syrup = 1 cup powdered corn syrup. I hope these candy apple tutorials below help you.💕 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ujJMM5RUF1A.htmlsi=Iwa_FmLreS4RgeFe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r-_Z8LKYVs4.htmlsi=3KgQ2aaVAo1LpEVc ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QqNr5ZILwug.htmlsi=Cg37cPEIlRg0BgH7
You can make these 2-3 days in advance, and if you’re going to make them in advance place them in the refrigerator. As far as time I would say 20-30 minutes should get it. I didn’t time mine. I just kept checking to see if I could peel the silicone mold off. If you can’t peel it off without candy sticking to the silicone mold then the candy is not ready. Be careful because this candy is hot.💕
Janie none of my candy apple recipes are thick. If your candy got too thick you put too much gel food coloring in the mixture. Gel food coloring definitely makes your candy too thick. Get a teaspoon out and don't use no more than a teaspoon of gel food coloring for your candy apples. For 4-3-1 make sure you are using 4 cups of sugar, 3 cups of water, and 1 cup of light corn syrup. Cook your candy using your candy thermometer to 300 degrees. Don't be heavy handed on the gel food coloring. I hope this helps you.💕
I'm here on the weekends. So either it will be on a Saturday or Sunday. I'm not up on Saturday mornings doing lives at 7 and 8 am anymore.....LOLLLLLL! However, I'm still here on the weekends.💕
I use all Hobby Lobby's gel food coloring, and only prefer Wilton's white icing for my white. If I don't have Wilton's white icing color, then I will use Hobby Lobby's super white. Don't be disappointed in yourself. Consider it a learning lesson, and it will be many when making candy apples.💕
As long as you didn't stir while the candy apple mixture was cooking on the stove. What exactly is the issue? Are you not pleased with the color? What kind of color are you trying to achieve?
Candy apples are supposed to be hard, but with my candy apple recipes the candy is not thick. So if they came out clear and translucent that's because you didn't add white. Add white plus the color you are trying to achieve for all of your candy apples with the exception of metallic colors. For metallic colors and black you don't add white, but all other colors you need to add white plus the color you want your candy apples to come out. Many don't add white to their red, but I do because I use Hobby Lobby's super red. Another tip, don't use too much gel food coloring because that can make your candy apples thick as well. Get a teaspoon out and don't add no more than a teaspoon of each color. I hope this helps you.💕
