Something else to learn Joseph & Joseph and Che’n, not so much. They have these things called eye candy products, meaning you’ll buy them only because they look adorable/ pretty but they end up working horribly. Like Joseph and Joseph’s nesting sets, just *no*
Lol yep I’ve seen quite a few of their product comparisons ending with the winner being some type of product from OXO. Usually it’s “and our winning equipment is the OXO Good Grips so and so for $24.99.” That’s pretty much spot on, just insert the name of whatever product they’re testing! Haha 😂. But I absolutely love ATK and Cook’s Country.
Went to the store to buy all thos ingredients and those beans didn't disappoint! Instead of using a square 9x13, that I did not have, I used a size up pan and since i had more surface area I did an extra slice of bacon! These will be made again!
Thank you so much for the Baked Beans recipe, I had a tabletop game night and my DM asked everyone to bring something for our 12 hour session, i made the beans earlier that day and it was a real head turner, everyone was asking if I could share the recipe!
Now I have to say those baked beans look wonderful! I will add a good potato salad that I will put underneath the beans! We moved to Germany and I miss seeing you all on PBS!
Another amazing episode - so happy these are back!! I hope you won't mind a bit of constructive criticism from a long time fan. The three note transition music you're using in the cooking segments gets repetitive really quickly. Maybe add a few variations for future shows? Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see the next installment!
Ashley is very accomplished with the grilling technique, obviously hard-won through study and experience! I learned a ton from this segment, and I will be using her tips on my next cookout! I cannot wait for smell-o-vision, I can only imagine the aromas are divine. Thanks.
Hi, Love your show and recipes. Made your barbecued beans, but instead of the 1/2 cup water for the sauce, added 1/2 cup defatted juices from smoked pork butt...wonderful thanks, wish I had joined yalls team when I was younger.
Those baked beans, put them underneath 2 racks of ribs, on your stack smoker. Rib juices will drip on them, adding even more flavor. (Something like an "Ugly Drum Smoker.") While I'm at it, leave the liquid smoke at the store! steve
I love pork chops and would love to have some of them to grill outside. After years of eating beans while growing up I swore off of them except for green string beans.
The chops are just like how I like them in thickness!! Those bbq beans with some cornbread and those chops woosah!! I would be a happy camper with that meal!! Only thing is I live in an apartment building and can't use a charcoal grill. Can the chops be made on an indoor grill the same way?
This is almost exactly my beans recipe. They are delicious. I greatly vary my beans though so it looks more amazing. Try one can of each. pork n beans(white northern), pinto, black, chili ready, navy, dark kidney, cannallini, black eyed peas. They look outstanding. I'm so glad to see ATK gang again. Love you guys!
Thank you for the short cut ! Wish they indexed up top! (Just made a pound of pinto beans and all I did was spaghetti sauce and paprika/cayenne and apple cider vinegar/olive oil for a refried pan. Want more variety for the remainder for the week and it got to be late.)
Heard on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert an explanation on the difference between North Carolina and South Carolina barbecue being about mustard. I tried a coffee rub on a ribeye once and couldn't go to sleep!
I have had (for years) the riveted-on handle measuring cups used for the example of not being able to sweep cleanly, but I'm pretty sure I bought them based on a recommendation from ATK. But I've never really had an issue with them. Go figure.
Please do a BBQ bean recipe that's made on a BBQ. I love beans, and I don't want to take all these shortcuts. I make dried beans in the instant pot and they're better than salty and sugary canned beans. Putting them in a dutch oven in a smoker would be great. Better than liquid smoke. I think I'll do my own test and tell you how to make it!
Two words: Lebanon Bologna. Forget the liquid smoke, just stir in diced/ground LB, and you will have the smokiest, best tasting beans. On its own, LB is almost offensively smokey, but in beans??? Oh, my. And it's actually smoked meat, not artificial flavoring.
Cowboys and beans? Can't help but think of the circle of cowboys eating beans in the movie Blazing Saddles. I am going to try this recipe but instead of the oven, it will be placed on a rack underneath a pork butt or brisket to catch the drippings in a vertical smoker
I really wish that America's Test Kitchen would recognize the fact that they pick OXO Goodgrips brand for almost every kitchen accessory test. Without at least acknowledging, you have to wonder if OXO is paying for the attention.
OXO is usually the best for the price, though, that is also fairly easy to get. It's not so bad to say "this product works, doesn't cost a fortune, and is probably easy to find in most stores." That being said, isn't OXO a sponsor? I'd be bothered if their products just sucked outright though.
Look for venison bacon to season beans etc. Beef bacon is another option. Eye of round roast, sirloin would be good or a tri-tip on smoker too. All that said you should just eat pork, dont tell the Rabbi or whoever
In the measuring cup segment they didn't mention that different countries (Canada, Australia, NZ, etc) use a cup that is a different size than the U.S.A. - So if you are getting baking recipes from the web... know which country they are from so you can change your measuring. Or just use Metric. #NotAllMeasuringCupsAreTheSame
LeGourmetTV Recipes Also a British pint of beer is quite different from an American pint. But this is America's Test Kitchen, after all, so they of course cater to an American audience.
For baking, weights are always the superior option. Bread bakers take that a step further and do ratios by weight, so you can make any size batch you want.
During the "COOK'S COUNTRY" opening song, you show a fruit pie being made. There's only a brief flash of what appears to be a cherry(?) pie with a pink cream top layer being poured onto the cherry(?) pie already in a pre-baked crust. WHAT IS THIS PIE? WHAT EPISODE DO YOU DEMO IT? THANKS.
Hi, I just bought a sous vide stick. I couldn’t find the Joule brand in Australia. Would you do a sous vide stick test, please. I looked, but I couldn’t find that you had done one. Btw, those beans look delicious. I’ll try that on the bbq.
I thought the USDA safe temp for pork is145F before removing meat from the heat source. Recipe looks good, but after fearing pink pork most of my life 150f is about as low as I could go.
