Kelsey
Yogurt Recipe:
1/2 Gallon Milk
1/4 cup Plain Yogurt with Live + Active Cultures
Crockpot Method:
Raw Milk
Heat Milk on low to 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit checking and stirring every 15 minutes
Once temp is reached turn off and allow temp to come back down to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Add 1/4 cup plain yogurt too some of the warm milk, stir. Combine with the rest of the milk, return lid to crockpot and cover with a heavy towel or blanket for 12-24 hours. Keep as is or strain off whey for thicker yogurt. Sweeten/flavor and enjoy.

Good morning Kelsey! I have never made yogurt before but perhaps I should 😊. I have made granola and frankly I find homemade granola to be so much better than anything I’ve ever purchased. My first experience with homemade granola was at a womens retreat probably 35 years or more ago. I was so surprised at how wonderful their granola was that I asked for the recipe. It has changed over time with what ends up in it, but I still have that recipe to this day. Although it has never occurred to me before today, the thought that came to mind while watching, was the idea of using the granola as the topping for a fruit crisp. It already has many of the same ingredients and it would provide a healthier twist to the crunchy top. On a side note, your copper measuring cups are so pretty. I don’t recall seeing those before. Have a blessed weekend. 🤗 Happy Spring. 🌸

Oh my, this makes me hungry!! You made a beautiful yogurt and granola. I have been wanting to make my own yogurt for a long time but have been afraid to try it. Your video is very thorough and really easy to follow, I think. I definitely want to make my first batch with raw milk. And i love granola with hardy chunks. I love everything you put in yours. Thank you for sharing with us. -frankie-

Such a beautiful video Kelsey! I make my yogurt with raw milk in the instant pot, but I need to try it in the crockpot to keep all that good bacteria from the raw milk intact!

Did you use salted pecans? If so, does it make it slap with the additional salt added? I just ruined a gallon of raw milk I was turning into yogurt😔 I heated like I was using store bought like usual. I put it in my dehydrator for 7 hrs on 105*. It never sat up and is still liquid.
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead Год назад
Hi! No, they were unsalted. If you only have salted nuts I’d just omit the extra salt. Oh no! I’m so sorry, that’s a huge bummer. I’ve never tried that method so I’m not much help. If it never set I would assume perhaps the temp was too warm when the cultures were added??
@kimfowler6132
@kimfowler6132 Год назад
@@seedandsparrowhomestead probably! I usually make it with store bought, but this was a gift and want to try it with homemade yogurt. I’ll just have to make better mental notes!🤣

Do you think you could use raw goat milk?
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead Год назад
I can't speak from experience, I've personally never worked with raw goat milk, but I have seen others do it! If you have extra it wouldn't hurt to try. I'm sure there are some recipes out there specifically for goat milk yogurt too!
@cherylwmh6543
@cherylwmh6543 Год назад
I don't understand why the pasteurized milk needs such high temperature. I understand why you wouldn't want to heat the raw milk so high so you don't loose the good stuff. But store bought pasteurized milk already has already been heated, so why the high temps to make yogurt?
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead Год назад
I’ll look into the specifics, I’m not entirely sure, only that every recipe I’ve seen calls for 180 degrees. Let me research a bit!
