How to Make the (Cylindrical) Secret Compartment Fob by TIAT 

I had trouble at first; I'm left handed so I have to turn everything around in my head. Mirror image would be ideal. I wanted to let everyone know that if you insert a pencil after the 3 or 4 pass, you won't have a problem with uneven levels. By under and over tightening. I also Googled this and found tutorial images, those helping a lot. Thanks for this great knot!

@TyingItAllTogether I was a contractor also for seventeen years....bricklayer/blocklayer. Learned to do all kinds of things with my hands. I think it helped me in learning to tie your fusion knots. Awesome work man.... I'm really liking this design. My house has fusion knots and designs everywhere... :)

It took me a little bit of time to figure things out for the first one I made, but now I have it down and I think this is so cool. I am making a bunch to give away at my son's birthday party with a secret "thanks for coming to my party" message inside. The kids will love it I am sure. P.S. I'm gonna make one of these for a geocache. Either will put a bison tube or something inside, or if it's semi-water-tight, just a waterproof log. Thanks for the idea!

I've given much thought to your craft, and I've noticed that you have an excellent eye and such precision that without a doubt I have a feeling that tells me that you would have been an excellent surgeon. My only question is, how does a contractor, in this case you, become a knotter and also a writer? Or what really came up first?

An excellent "how to" video! Great use of pacing, repetition and pauses. Dispenses with the unnecessary voiceover where the narrator is just trying to fill time. The background music doesn't distract from the objective (teaching how to make the cylinder knots). Targeted print instructions enhance the demonstration. Clean hands, clean tools, clean background, steady camera, consistent focus and the content precisely matches the title. So many things done right in this video. Although I was only minimally interested in the subject I watched the video again and wondered if the TIAT team has a background in education. Could not ask for more!

@luquita88 - If you have an Army/Navy Surplus store near you, try them. Otherwise, there are some sporting goods stores that carry paracord.

Could this be used to wrap a handle on a hatchet for example? I've been watching your videos in search of survival knots. Several of these are decent, but i'm looking to get as much cord in as small a space as possible and still have it manageable. Any knots you could recommend?

@Mrbowgod You mean the movie just came out? Cuz I've had the book for a little while and I know there's another book about Park something (forgot the title) that will be out soon. I thought he was making an Easter egg with knots! lol So the Easter egg was just a figure of speech for a surprise?

once you get it started it helps to stick a pen in the middle to tighten it around

Normally I find the videos on RU-vid a great resource to help with the information in your books. But this knot is totally beyond my grasp so far. I really like your normal videos which clearly show step-by-step. But this one just goes way too fast, and many critical views are blocked. Is it possible to get this video redone with your standard clarity in the video - And a little slower please :) I am sorry if it is just me. I do have issues with my vision and hands and it may just be me. Thanks JD - I appreciate your efforts to share your skills with us!!!

I thought the same thing, so i did it over a double A battery. Just leaves the knot a bit looser, so it works.

this was much easier when you get a couple rows done... stick a pen or pencil in the hole and work around it... it will keep the shape of the FOB steady and make the pulling of the walls easier!

@Parrots2015 he put money in the fob and a note came out. the note was that a movie is being made about his newest novel Disturbingly Normal

For all those struggling with the starting knot: The trick is to NOT tighten it all the way. just a little bit.

If you can't follow this, there are a few illustrated guides that are a bit easier. Just search and remember, this is a learning curve, don't be afraid to try something on your own. P.s. the production on this was a bit out there with the sound.☺

This video is really hard to follow. You are going super fast and the banners with your instructions or comments get in the way. I love your videos because you go slowly and show the process clearly. I'm a big fan. But this video is a big disappointment. I really wanted that secret compartment.
