It was a dark and stormy night...perfect to stay in and throw back a few Dark 'n Stormy cocktails. This simple to make cocktail is known as Bermuda's national drink. A real Dark 'n Stormy is made with Goslings Black Seal Rum (Due to a trademark they own on the name) So if you make one using a different brand of rum, you're breaking the law! I add a bit of lime juice to mine.

He reminds me a lot of mine. He used to play the accordian in the street after a drink so I'm told. He died when I was young.

My dad's not one for cocktails, but he likes a dark n stormy when he's in Bermuda! He's been doing the Bermuda yacht race for a few decades now, and they're always served at the big party after the race. He gets super disappointed whenever the bartender doesn't float the rum, the whole point of it for him is the look of the "raincloud"-- you're the only bartuber I've found who floats the rum on this drink! Sir I gotta say and I've seen a lot of cocktail videos, not trying to bash anyone (ugh Tipsy Bartender personally I think his annoying as hell) and also seen Steve the Bartender and Educated Barfly etc etc. but man you're setup is freaking awesome as hell! crap I wanna build one just like it! hopefully someday love the scale that you have, the flower that you clip off for the blue hawaiian your character everything about you and your surrounding in this video is epic and fun!

Today I learned I've been making these the wrong way! I will try the rum on top of the ginger beer the next time. I don't know if you said the name of the Ginger Beer you used (I can understand why you didn't) but I know what kind it is and boy, oh boy... it's a bit expensive but oh so good. I use that brand of tonic whenever I go on a gin and tonic kick.

he was using fever tree ginger beer. really great but expensive. priced like a stone's ipa in a 4pk of 7oz bottles. if you can find it, try maine root or jamaica's finest.

I went to Bermuda just for Gosling's Black Seal. Its a beautiful dark rum, I love it. Ok so maybe it was an excuse to go to Bermuda, but there's little out there like Gosling's And a true Dark and Stormy, it'll kick your backside nicely, and wonderful to sip watching the world go by.

Barritt's Ginger Beer is traditional, but I don't know how hard it is to find in Canada. We can find it in North Carolina fairly easily, both in canned and bottled versions. Too bad it has the crap in it though. Haven't had the Fever Tree, but I ought to try it!

In New Brunswick, Canada we have Sussex Golden Ginger Ale. If you find ginger beer a bit much, this is a great option. More bite than the typical ginger ale but less than ginger beer.

I used Fever-Tree Ginger Beer in my Dark 'n Stormy. Fever-Tree is made with a blend of three gingers from Nigeria, Cochin, and the Ivory Coast. I like it because it's not too sweet. A little pricy, but you get what you pay for. Cheers!

this cocktail is an odd one for me, as it's got only one specific kind of rum! can anything sub for a Bermuda Dark Rum like Gosling's? Cruzan Blackstrap is probably TOO molasses heavy, and a Jamaican might be too distracting with that trademark funk I keep hearing about. other dark rums, though, aren't this beautifully dark. i might just have to use Gosling's.

Rum can be a very subjective thing. You could go for a complex rich and spicy rum like El Dorado 12-Year-Old. It has tastes of butterscotch with a hint of candied orange peel. You could try a sweet tropical rum such as Diplomatico Reserva or even Bacardi Reserva. Flor De Cana Centenario 12-Year-Old Rum is a medium weight, drier rum that is somewhat nutty with clove, dark chocolate, and dried fruit flavours. Although none of these rums is as dark as Gosling's Black Seal, you wouldn't want to break the law by using a different rum, would you?. Ha! Seriously, you'll have to experiment to find what fits your palate. Goslings though is a nice smooth rum with flavours of butterscotch, cinnamon, allspice, and fruit. You can't go wrong. Cheers!

You can make it with any rum really, but rename your drink to something else if you're working at a bar. Gosling's will come after your establishment legally if they find out your making Dark and Stormy's without their rum.

Master Bruce! love all of your vids. i am a professional bartender, working in Greece, in boutique Hotels, for the last 15 years. we use, for dark n stormy not so high quality dark rum..wish i could use this Goslings Black Seal Rum, but it's up to the bar manager to decide.till then we stick with Captain morgan's black rum. anyhow, love your vids. keep up the magnificent work.
