Today on Booze On The Rocks I show you how to make the perfect Bourbon Old Fashioned. This cocktail can trace its roots to the classic template of a cocktail from 1806, containing Spirits, Sugar, Water, and Bitters. this basic premise has built a solid foundation for the Old Fashioned and its many variants including this one. Tell me what you think.

There is definitely no need for water in Australia. One minute after making in 40deg C there’s plenty of water from ice

Another cocktail video I missed. How is this possible? This has become my new favorite drink. Yes, I have booted Rum & Coke to the side except on the casino floor. I have totally changed the original to using Orange Bitters and different sweetener's. Maple syrup has been a good option. It was suggested to me on my last Vegas trip to try Orange Marmalade. So yes, that is next. Cheers my friend.

I use simple syrup, because I can never get the sugar to dissolve all the way in the glass, and I hate that grainy texture when there are sugar crystals in the bottom. Best cocktail ever obviously

If by chance you ever make this drink for me, please do not use your bare hands to hold my ice before you put it into my drink. Your hands have been handling money, liquor bottles that has god knows what on them, all kinds of things in the bar area that are not sanitary and whatever else you have acquired on them throughout your shift. It’s unbelievable to me that anyone would even consider using their bare hands for something people will be consuming.
@boozeontherocks
@boozeontherocks Месяц назад
That is a fair point. No Bartender in a bar would ever use their bare hands to make a drink. Even for my freinds I would not do that,

Not a fan of bourbon. Therefore, how to make a perfect Bourbon Old Fashioned? Use Rye (American, not Canadian which isn't rye).
@boozeontherocks
@boozeontherocks 2 года назад
I can see your reasoning. But which Rye do you recommend?
@pcmacintyre
@pcmacintyre 2 года назад
@@boozeontherocks Budget Ryes for me to use are Rittenhouse 100 which is a higher corn rye (only 51% rye mash bill), or Bulleit Rye (MGP 95% rye mash bill). Depends on how much of a rye spice punch I want in my cocktail. I do also like High West's Double Rye and Rendezvous Rye which can be expensive depending on your location.

Bourbon / Whisk(e)y are totally not my thing, but Old Fashioneds are! I love to tail my OFs to the specific spirit I use, but few creations trump a true classic one. You make me want to prepare myself a beautiful aged rum OF this weekend!

@Xuuch
@Xuuch 2 года назад
@@boozeontherocks I have an intersting collection at home on the Canary Islands, so enough choice, and I adjust all my Old Fashioneds to the rum I choose, to highlight their flavour profiles. Now we´re also constructing a new home here on my Mexican homesoil and Appleton gave me an 8 year reserve to start a new bar with here, so that might be my choice for now, haha
