Anyone who has spent time interacting with Pokémon fans over the years will just know that over 90% of Pokémon are hacked. I have seen the game sharks, the action replays, the homebrew 3DS's, the jailbroken switches. It no longer surprises me; Most people are either hacking or are friends with someone who is, and they just get hacked Pokémon from them.

i am a very competitive person and have thought about doing competitive pokemon but have seen videos about cheating and so i never really did more research on how much cheating was going on aand i was in high school at the time and didnt have a ton of time anyways so i didnt see a need to search knowing i wasnt able to do it anyways. Now that I'm 20 and coming back to see these types of videos i do think i will never engage in competitive Pokemon in its current state. Yes i have done RNG manipulation in the past in gen 6 games in the past year but i would never use those mons in a competitive setting anyways considering i want to be the best the hard way because beating someone by grinding and just outplaying someone is way more rewarding knowing you put in the time and effort to be good. That does bring up my view on RNG manipulation because up until the Blisey Debunked video i watched before this one i had no idea RNG manipulation was against the VGC rules but i guess it makes sense because you need the Homebrew to do it making it not legit. that being said doing RNG manipulation for shinies for your personal use is far different than doing it for a huge advantage at a prize money event ESPECIALLY if its clearly stated to be illegal in the rule book. And when someone says they dont know about (blank) but, i stop listening anyways because for me to care what you have to say you need to have knowledge on it and not just spew words that sound fair. Its like asking how to make it to the NBA and getting input from a chef or something like that. Yeah you might have an idea even if you dont do it but you wouldnt ask the chef how to get to the NBA because they didnt make the NBA so they wouldnt be able to give good tips or ones that would work because if they had tips they would be in the NBA themselves. and to be fair the shiny egg rng in Alpha Sapphire got stale anyways because it was too easy and i got bored and felt weird getting that many that quickly knowing its supposed to be hard and take time.

It takes me at 3 hours of my free time to make a team in a single day. Tbh, the weekend is never that busy for anyone, in fact, if anyone has time to complain and defend cheating majority of their day, then that complaining time could be spent making a legit team. Also, next few months will mark the year the biggest cheating bust in Japan ever. Still sucks Wolfey hasn’t gotten banned
@meddagoat
@meddagoat Месяц назад
Going further. It takes 1 hour to get urshifu on a fresh file of Gen 8, which is easy. 2 1/2 hours for Ogerpon isn’t bad either, and you practically just mash a the entire time. And if you really wanted to dedicate the time to get DLC Dex exclusive mons on another save file(ex. Gouging Fire, Bloodmoon, etc.) what someone could do is simply already have a majority of their game already completed with them caught, put them in home, and then transfer them in and out on a fresh file. A lot of work, but if someone is gonna complain that it takes too long, then a VGC player’s “ dedication “ to compete and win is just as worthless than it already is because they see cheating as their gateway to success.
@Digitoed
@Digitoed Месяц назад
@@meddagoat Yeah honestly you can get another gouging fire and raging bolt by transferring from one save file to another with all the other stuff needed to unlock them, then you can trade them with someone who is willing to trade an iron crown or iron boulder and boom... not to mention you get the benefits like having an extra bloodmoon ursaluna and all that good stuff. I know people will say "oh but what if its hacked with what I trade" sure its not always 100% that its hacked but thats only a worry because people supported it and defended so much to where now its snowballed out of control. Second, there is a ton of communities that actually care about having legit mons and some take it very seriously. Heck, some even trade these legendaries for shiny pokemon even, sure it requires a bit of time and a little luck but it pays off in the end. Its how I got a second urshifu without the scarlet and violet dlc.

Lol what’s crazy is that game freak made building none legendary competitive teams so easy in Scarlet and violet by making tera shards, knocking hyper training down to level 50, vitamins, items, pokeballs, mints, and even sandwiches that can be use to shiny hunt as accessible as possible.. So having a job or not, creating a team can be done in 2hrs depending if you’re shiny hunting (which is the longest part really).. But with this perspective, it’s definitely easy to understand why folks had to cheat to get the shiny mons they wanted in the generations before.. like I recently saw that ray rizzo documentary and what made me chuckle was seeing the shiny legendaries they were playing with back then when obtaining them was close to impossible.. and then when he mentioned he stopped playing after being disqualified due to failing a team check just had me dying 😂😂

From my understanding, your argument boils down to cheating = bad, and anything else on top of that can be omitted because the rule set allows it. Your not actually against things giving people advantages, because as along as its okay within the rule set, then its good, regardless of whether it gives an advantage. You addressed this already in the video, but for example, someone who works a 9-5 will always have a disadvantaged against someone who's job is to play pokemon. The other person cannot spend the amount of time a professional player plays because their too busy working to pay bills, and I could be wrong, but I've never seen you bring up the unfairness that wealth gives in competitive sports, and THEN say that we need to do something about this, but because the rule set mentions nothing about wealth, its okay for this unfair advantage to happen, but because genning is specified within the ruleset this is wrong. also to put the nail in the coffin, unironically the solution to cheating giving an unfair advantage is to promote cheating, because if everyone is cheating, then no one has an advantage. If everyone gens pokemon, then what time advantage would there be?There would be none, but I imagine you'll fall back to what really is your main argument, cheating = bad. I bring this up because its quite honestly a childish moral framework. If its in the law, its bad, if its not apart of the law, then its okay. Law doesn't equal morality, or at least, I argue it shouldn't, and I don't think I need to bother with obvious examples of why that's the case as history has provided many. People recognize that the pokemon company, while improved a lot over the years, still has a horrible way of providing access to certain pokemon strategies (specifically trick room). An example is Enamorus Therian, a great fairy trickroom sweaper, that needs to be 0 speed IV to fully work in trick room. How do you get a legit Enamorus with 0 speed IV? Oh you just have to play the entirety of pokemon legends arceus, catch her, then transfer her to home and HOPE you get 0 IV and if you don't, you have to erase your safe file, play the ENTIRE game again, just to have a CHANCE to get a 0 IV. This is an insane ask for a competitive pokemon player to do, yet according to the rule set, this is required. The solution is for gamefreak to actually implement more ways to built competitive teams, and they have added a lot, but they do need to add more, and until they do, players see fit that the rules the pokemon company have made are morally repugnant, because they ignore how the system is currently skewed to hurt trickroom players because they don't have the sufficient tools to make reliable trickroom teams, especially with legendaries. So yes, cheating doesn't always mean bad if a system is broken, just as breaking the law isn't always morally bad if the law is unjust.
@Verlisify
@Verlisify Месяц назад
Its hilarious you think you made a point when all you did was expose you are a midwit with piss morality. Absolutely no value to say the only way to beat cheating is to cheat. Just follow the very simple rules of a children's game, brat. You aren't making a moral stand against what rules mean by cheating in Pokemon and being dishonest to steal prize money. Rules of competition are opt-in. If you cant follow the rules then don't play. There's nothing wrong with legal advantages.
@yaman3887
@yaman3887 Месяц назад
@@Verlisify How is there nothing wrong with legal advantages? I'd argue wage gap in wealth provides an EXTREMELY HUGE advantage over genning a team. You say yourself more time equals a bigger advantage, so why in one case where genning gives you a time advantage is wrong, but having more money giving you a time advantage isn't? Isn't it stealing prize money, when a rich person wins because they had the funds to support themselves to make the game a career, when a poor person could of won if given the same amount of time the rich person had? As for saying I have no values, I do, I just am not a bot that makes all my values based off of other peoples rules. I have my own morality, then apply that morality to my life and actions and if someone puts in a rule I believe to be morally wrong, I'm not gonna follow it, simple as that. If the rules are morally wrong why would I follow them. If pokemon suddenly decided that this game is a male sport only, would you yell at females for disguising themselves to try and play and call them no value cheaters?In this instance, they would be cheaters, yet I'd hope you be on their side saying a sport shouldn't be male exclusive and that they should play.
@Verlisify
@Verlisify Месяц назад
@yaman3887 Again, cheating is never acceptable to make up for an advantage. Less fortunate athletes aren't allowed steroids. Someone with money shouldn't be forced into a thousand hour disadvantage just because of money. Rules determine fairness and are opt in which is why there isn't any justification. Don't like the rules, don't play, there is nothing righteous about cheating in a children's game lmfao. Cheating is a deliberately malicious action against an opponent, being better off isn't. Punishing rich people isn't virtuous, its deranged and shows zero morality or values.

I don't have a PC, so I can't cheat even if I wanted to, so I'm a prime example of being behind every cheater. To get around this, I did the science stuff to get the item printer, and then I farmed and printed a shit ton of IV's. So whenever I want to try a new team or change a mons set up, I have the IV's and if I want good EV's, I just use bottle caps. It definetly takes more time for me, but it's so easy and they set it up to be easy so there is no excuse at all to hack mons and give them perfect stats and hidden stats that you would otherwise never find in the wild. I'm still in the top 10k in ranked battles without having a PC or jail breaking my switch. There is no excuse. Wolf can't even claim he's won a single event because he cheated to do so. We haven't had a real winner since the start of tournaments because everyone cheats. I love playing and I would definetly compete, but it needs to die so we stop having the same cheaters win and the same people at worlds every single year. Love the content, and I support you 100%. People against you are either so bad at the game that they have to cheat, or the just dead throat, their favorite player and cope. Also, if you're using time as an excuse to cheat, just use showdown to theory craft before you start building the team. Again, no excuse to cheat.

The amount of "missing the point" in these discussions is unbelieveable, this is real time brain rot watching. - The "doesn't give an advantage" point is dumb, the first guy literally refuted himself, which is amazing. If they rephrased it to "the pokemon functionally work the same way as an edited one" they would have a point, but by their own arguments they would have to agree that it saves real-life time outside the battles themselves, which is valuable according to THEM. - Players CONSENTED to the rules, which doesn't allow those "functionally-identical edited mons", and this ALONE invalidates any other argument all the way up to analogy loop like "carving your own chess pieces" or whatever. Take it up to the TOs / devs, or follow the rules. - If accessibility is the problem, why aren't people complaining to the GAME DEVELOPER? Why didn't they complain throughout gens 4 and 5, which was insufferable to make teams especially considering that event-only stuff was allowed. But no, Eruption Heatran from a years-old event? No problem. A magmar that is ACTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE to obtain? No problem. Years later, Endeavor Raichu from a year-old event? No problem. Telepathy Dialga? Easy. B-but NOW accessibility is a problem? Give me a break.

I hate the chess piece argument. Because it is stupid. Most chess players do actually bring their chess sets. Buy expensive books. And take chess lessons. Not to mention if they do become titled they usually have a personal coach. You look at any E-sport there is a lot of money spent on equipment. Most Pro players have a mechanical keyboard, gaming mouse, not to mention their gaming rig. Easily a person getting into Valorant or LoL right now would be out at least $1000. (even if they already had the gear they still spent the money on it) And even if we want to give a different example. Getting into Smash Melee, You would need a gamecube And I will be generous and say that is $70. You would want a modified controller. So that would put you out at least $50 if you do the shell mods yourself. You would want a backup because we are talking 20 year old OEM controllers that are going out definitely if you are using them hard. So that is at least another $100. Then you would want the game. If we want to be generous and say a game without the case goes for $70. You are already out $240. (not to mention any controllers or potentially new game cubes as the old ones go out while you practice). And if we really want to get into the weeds. The Main events at a lot of e-sport events the fighting games. You are looking (generously) at $100 for a joy stick. (maybe they use an OEM PlayStation 5 controller still looking at $70 for that) You have the game system so if you are playing on a PS5 that is at least $300. (go back to my gaming rig price if not playing on a console) And you are still spending around $400. No e-sport is a free ticket. And the funny thing. If you actually look at professional sports. Most athletes provide their own cleats/ basketball shoes. Yes most of them are sponsored so they probably get them from their sponsor but you can make the same argument about any e Sport. So this argument is old and tired. Because the real thing most people are spending is time. Pokemon not to diminish anyone's time in the game. Doesn't take weeks to master like Super Smash Bros or even something like Tekken or Street Fighter. It definitely doesn't take as long as LoL or valorant. The only reason Pokemon has devolved into the mess it has. Is because people hack and the meta changes every week. If hacking wasn't as bad as it is you could get solid with one team and probably use it most of the time with maybe some variations. But because the pokemon community hacks. They keep pushing to goal post a bit further. To the point where some metas are figured out within weeks of a new game coming out. And you see the same 3 teams (sometimes 1 team) being played in every match. There is no more nuance in the competitive scene. And it makes it not fun to watch and even more boring to play. And that comes from someone that has been playing pokemon for over 22 years. Small edit: I know you cover some of this in the video it just makes me laugh the Imblissy comment about $510 for getting into competitive pokemon. Because that is a drop in the bucket compare to other esports

I’ve watched most of your videos on this topic - I wasn’t surprised to see hacking at the highest competitive level, and I think it’s good that you’re using your platform to expose it. That being said, I think you would get a lot further and be received a whole lot better if you didn’t attack the people who disagree with you in comments. You could speak on their opinion, but attacking intelligence and resorting to ad hominem responses just makes it that much harder for the community at large to appreciate the points you are making. Debate them, argue your points, point out the logical fallacies in their points - but the name calling only hurts your position. Just my two cents.

????????????? They don't have an opinion that wolfe didn't cheat or that hacking isn't cheating. They are 100% wrong in all realities and there are zero ad hominems in my replies. An idiot is an idiot and weak people not confronting that is why society has gone to shit

@@Verlisify Most points I’ve seen are people arguing that it shouldn’t be cheating - which is a whole other argument in itself. Regardless, calling people idiots, morons, low IQ, saying things like “Pokemon fans need to touch grass” it’s just not helpful. You can confront them without resorting to personal attacks, when you accomplish that I think you’ll get a much better response to these types of videos. Thanks for the reply man, have a good night.

@@Ryan2Point0 There's no argument that its not cheating. Its a fact genning is cheating BY DEFINITION. I'm stating a further truth that they are actually stupid to deny the facts presented to them that its cheating or Wolfe has used hacked Pokemon. "I don't play competitive but" has the same weight and value to a conversation as a person in politics saying "I don't know anything about this subject but as a parent" Idk why but I cringe every time I see a comment that just says "I don't play", then why are you giving an opinion then if you're just going to look like an idiot by giving an opinion/argument that collapses in on itself within the first sentence.

These cheaters and wolf fans have no idea what they're talking about. Firstly, it's not expensive. If you're a fan of the series (like they claim to be), you should easily have a copy of Sword or Shield and Scarlet or Violet and the respective DLC on your shelf. Secondly, it is not hard or time consuming to get competitive pokemon. By the time you beat the main story, you have 5 or 6 pokemon that are almost battle ready. Use the resources acquired throughout the story to fine tune your team. Another option is to beat a 5 or 6* raid, sell the nuggets, buy a mint, and use some vitamins. Boom easy. Done in 5 minutes. A third option is to breed your pokemon. Breeding has been a part of the games since gen 2 over 20 years ago and only gotten better each iteration. This is clearly an aspect of the game the developers want people to interact with. Breeding a pokemon from nothing to good IVs takes maybe 20-30 minutes. (Driving to the local card store to buy some TCG cards, coming home, and upgrading your deck accordingly takes longer.) Seriously, if playing the game is so outrageously terrible for these people that they find cheating mandatory, they should just admit that they're not truly a fan of the a series (or part of the target audience), leave the scene, and let the people that can actually respect the game and want to be here, be here.

“I want to be Michael Jordan. I will birth myself as Michael Jordan and train as Michael Jordan” Vs. “I want to be Michael Jordan. I will craft MYSELF and MY basketball skills to play like Michael Jordan”. Is it unfair you can’t just be born as Michael Jordan and have access to the skills he has before you’ve done ANY of the work??

It don’t take hours as much as it used to. You still live back in gen3 if you believe that there’s no point cheating or genning these days. All it does is creates laziness and Boredom never mind cheating, not realy worth it if you actually want to play a game. Don’t believe me just watch it instead of assuming people who play the game to be wrong and be “of course people in the comments gonna ‘say” you’re right” only cuz it’s absolutely true, people would have more fun if they played fairly and not be decieved by others.

"No other game". Completely false. Have you heard of a MMO before? Can't get anywhere on ARK PvP server without spending dozen of hours taming/breeding. Wanted to max more than a couple weapons in DS3? Only max 15 Titanite slabs in a single playthrough, so if you wanted more, you needed to go through the entire game again.
