How to make the Slow Death Crawler Rig for Walleye

One way we found to catch Walleye was by incorporating the slow death style crawler rig into our Spinnerbait Crawler Arsenal. It is a simple low cost tactic that the walleye sometimes cannot resist!
Tie up a couple and try it next time you are out using crawlers for Walleye!

I like the Funk’s G hybrid sign. I worked in the Traer plant during a couple summers when school was out. Great place to work! Sorted and bagged corn, ran a forklift truck and used it to stay in shape for football.

Great video! Is it better to tie the harness to a barrel swivel and then to the bouncer to eliminate line twist?

GREAT VIDEO Steve,I add 3 beads a quick change clevis and colarado blade to the slow death and have the option to run it clean no blade or add a blade for more flash vibration.Was the ticket for me last year,give it a try see what you think.

Jim Lemon thanks Jim! So you are sometimes using a spinner crawler type harness with slow death hooks? I have a bunch of spinners blade crawler harnesses I’ve made but had not put slow death hooks on it, just plain #2’s or 4’s. Thanks
@AJOutdoors1
@AJOutdoors1 4 года назад
That is a pretty cool rig. That knot is a form of a Snell knot I use those a lot on circle hooks. Have you run this rig along side a normal crawler harness? I would be interested to see how they compare.
@haulinashoutdoors2675
@haulinashoutdoors2675 4 года назад
Yes John, that is a snell knot. I have run them side by side and at times it catches more, other times not.....but it's a good option to tie one on and let the fish tell you what they want to eat. Thanks buddy, we will use them when you get up here.

Those hooks have barbs to keep the bait in place located near the eye of the hook. They seen to cut my 10lb. Monofilament with ease. I really struggle with this problem

Do you run the Slow Death the same as regular harnesses, same speed and all. You mentioned cranks, so I assume your going .8 - 1.5, especially this time of year.
@haulinashoutdoors2675
@haulinashoutdoors2675 4 года назад
Yes, everything is the same. We were pulling cranks out both sides of the boat on boards, and 2 bottom bouncers off each corner of the boat with one bottom bouncer on a stern planer 300 feet straight out the back at the same time, all (3) bottom bouncers had slow death rigs on them.

@@haulinashoutdoors2675 and by the way, we just spent four days hammering them on bottom bouncers in the St. Clair River in Algonac Michigan using your advice. Thank you sir
@Hawaiibohntr
@Hawaiibohntr Год назад
@@garymeldrum949 Short answer is yes and no. The heavier the bottom bouncer lead the flatter it will lay at slower trolling speeds, when the water depth changes so does the angle of the main line causing the bottom bouncer to stand up more, so as mentioned the speed your trolling affects the way the bottom bouncer ride on the bottom. I tick the bottom with the bottom wire, I pour my own bottom bouncers I cut my wire at 12-14 inches to the bottom of the lead pending the lake bottom and six inch arm to the swivel, every 10 feet of water at .05 to .75 mph will cause the bottom bouncer to ride higher, so at 20 feet depth and so on I use a 2 oz bouncer or low to a slower trolling speed. It's a simply complicated fun way to fish. Tight lines.
