In this video I go over the key upgrades and a few special mods of my own to make your Traxxas Xmaxx indestructible! #ThunderRC #xmaxx #traxxas. Product Xmaxx Steering Hubs www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-X-Ma...
Excellent work!!! You did a great job explaining everything!!! Awesome job putting this vid together. Big 👍. I've always wanted an Xmaxx!! What a beast of an RC Truck!!
I bought 2 sets of the RPM front bearing carrier, good thing I did. After 2 good bash sessions, they were tweaked so bad, they were binding up the steering and it wouldn't turn left. I installed the second set, but when they go I'll be going aluminum 👍
Awesome bench vid Rocky 👍. Great tips and tricks to get this Beast bulletproof! The wabble shaft seems to be a must and proven mod for this truck. Funny you mentioned it coz that's exactly what happened to me this weekend Bent center driveshaft from big air landings LoL 🤣🤣. Will definitely do this! I swapped all the button heads screws on this truck to a socket heads screws for durability and less strippage. Awesome vid Bro!!
Definitely agree with using the RPM upgrades coming out of the gate or when stock parts break. Very affordable mods with big strength improvements. RPM hinge pins per #70510✅ RPM Rear hub carriers #81732✅ RPM Front hub carriers #80663✅ Replace stock spur & pinion (stock will work for now)✅ Drive shaft mod✅ Factory motor and ESC are a great match w the X-MAXX & are very dependable.
Brother Thunder! Your amazing! Thanks for the tips! I’ve got 2 to builds and will do most of those mods. I of course have a few secrets if my own. I’ll share them like you did. Love the how to vid! It changes things up and is always awesome watching your videos! Keep up the Stellar work Thunder⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️🌪💯👊💥
@@thunderrc So burnt out on the 1/10 scale. I feel like I’m in a pit crew trying to make one video! I’m definitely getting one of mine done soon. I’m going smaller motor like yours first build. I went to go get the driveshaft splines, only comes with 1 with a drive shaft. But it’s worth it. Major props for that driveshaft mod!!!!!👍⚡️💯
My stock servo gears stripped just putting around the yard testing it out. I hadn't even jumped it or driven it hard. Installed the $30 servo metal gear kit into stock servo, so far it seems to be good.
@@thunderrc broke the spur gear ⚙️ on the 3rd time out just light jumping. Replaced it with a hot racing steel spur gear. Wonder what will break next? Needless to say it was a bit of a disappointment that a $1000 truck has so many weak points out of the box. I also have the smaller maxx that is completely stock that gets bashed on hard and zero issues so far.
Good video coverage! 1 question, did you go back and install the RPM captured hinge pins on the front after installing the aluminum front steering blocks? Do the fit together?
First of all would like to thank you for the awesome video, spot on . Definitely Subscribed and hoping for more X-Maxx content , infected and Lovin the Beast 💙🙏
I love seeing what I need to do that helps in anyway possible. Thanks again bro for the knowledge. That either an older video revamped or you didn't put dbCopperhead tires on this one.
Yeah bro I'm glad I could help👍⚡. So this is an entirely new video that I shot last night. I still like the copperheads the best on the Xmaxx but since it is brand new I am running the stock tires it came with for now.
Great vid, dope channel! Question for ya! I have the Max6 in my Xmaxx and the upgraded metal gears in my stock 2085 servo (essentially its the 2085X now) with the upgraded servo spring/link. Have you ran the stock 2085/upgraded stock like mine or 2085x on 7.4V and does it run okay? I could really use the increased fan speed from the 7.4V!
My biggest complaint is the front bulkhead that steering bell crank post snaps on hard bashing then u get sloppy steering and gotta replace it everything else been pretty good
Yoh I bet this would fix my issues with the Screws I think mine are all stripped ill try that before buying a new chassis especially if there's an additional benefit ill try it out before I buy all new chassis parts. Thanks for the tip!
@Thunder RC you definitely got yourself a new sub! I did the wood screws mod with what I had laying around man it already made a big difference can't wait to try it out later.. I have a brace for the center shaft so Im debating on trying out that mod on the shaft but I'm making a parts order so ill probably end up getting a couple of them parts so if decide i want to I have it. Lol 😆 Thanks for sharing, man I greatly appreciate it! I'm running a XLX2/1100kv-2028 system with a belt drive nothing but issues with screws.🤣
Sweet stuff brother now an XMaxx is on the never ending growing list of RC’s I want...way too go 😝 I did the driveshaft mod, were those Arrma splines you used or what RC are that size spline from ? Cheers 🍻 brother
@@thunderrc awesome thanks again brother good too know 1 buy XMaxx 2 buy XMaxx splines 3 because I’m a cheap ass rock it till I break the other parts 😝 than switch em. Cheers 🍻 brother
What size bearings on the inside go in the aluminium steering blocks. The standard thin traxxas ones or the oversized that will fit in the rpm ones. Thanks from holland.
Sounds like you have had a different experience than me with the Xmaxx. Hey man to each his own, for me the woodscrews work well and make the truck even faster to service.
Has anybody else tried the GDS spur gear? I had a hell of a time getting it on the cush drive and had to hammer it on and pray I didn't bend anything. A chap on Facebook said I had to cut some tabs off but I can't find any information on how to do this any where. Does anyone know? Thanks.
Hi from Australia. Enjoyed your vid. What do you call those joining pieces your using in the drive shaft . Never seen them before. No idea where to find them. Any help would be appreciated. Just ordered a x maxx can't wait to get it.
Hey thank you for tuning in and watching🤩⚡. So those connector pieces are called splines. The only way to buy them unfortunately is to buy the whole center drive shaft for Xmaxx. I believe it 12 dollars U.S. You get one spline per drive shaft 👍
My stock servo stripped out driving it around the yard the first time I took it out not even bashing on it. I replaced the gears in the stock servo with the metal gear kit and it seems to be solid now.
Mine lasted 2 years then cut in and out from corrosion maybe? Idk lol but I messed up and got the upgraded traxxas servo and burnt up 2 now my third is going for a few runs now lol luckily it was still under 30 day warranty with traxxas so they replaced the first 2
I think it's funny the different failures people have. I guess it has to do with driving style. I was a newbie last year when I got my X-Maxx 8s. I put it in training mode, putted it around the back yard for 15 minutes and the steering servo stripped. I put the 2085x servo in and no more issue yet I have never bent the prop shaft on my model. The only thing that I fought with for a while was the pinion coming loose. Ended up with Hot Racing for the spur and Tekno pinion with oversized grub screw with red loctite and crank it down with pliers.
You don’t need to update the ESC… that was the early trucks…. Like 3 Years dude.. I am In a group who run these trucks and have been for over 3 years and no one.. 0 have had problems with the stock ESC or motor.. bashing the hell out of them and water skipping them across lakes etc.. stop upgrading things don’t don’t need to be upgraded.. …. Buy some rpm wheel hubs, a pinion and locktight it. TIN shock shafts and aluminum shock end caps and you’ll be fine to jump your truck off a house
Them splines brother are for the xmaxx right my buddie said to take my kraton 8s tower to tower brace an do this mod to the top two would that work or no he said his is alot stronger an where jumping a river with it to test out send you a email with the video
Wow! Just imagine if you did it all correctly! R u f kidding me?! Haha. I guess you can't argue with results but tell me how those wood screws are holding up inside that plastic brother. Did they wiggle themselves loose yet and leave you with an oversized stripped hole? The answer is yes, only yes. I wonder what Rockwell (hardness) the plastic is at post WD-40 treatment? Considering petroleum products collected dust and deteriorate polyethylene/propylene. I'm sure it's.... Something. Also love the metal shim on the plastic arm that zip tied to it (a plastic fastener) I could go on and on but don't want to sound like a dick. No disrespect intended. Just a very interesting video brother. I was very impressed with the jumping footage. I guess you can't argue with results????......😶
Everyone has their own opinions and beliefs on how things should be done and I respect that. Truth is I am going to beat the crap out of this machine anyways so for me looking good is not a priority. To answer your questions I have never had a problem with the wood screws backing out or any issue with using wd40. I am a basher and have been bashing now for 5 years. I can tell you that these modifications do work and the truck is stronger in the long run. There are other mods people have done that look way better and work just as well but it’s gonna cost more dineros for all that. I just stick to what works plain and simple.
@@thunderrc I am just busting your balls man. Years ago there was no fine machine thread screws holding rc shit together. It was all corse thread wood style looking screws on a lot of parts. I am talking back in the 80's. Long story short they worked great
Haha! I just noticed I bout the same hub carriers not knowing the brand you bought! I’m building rebuilding the xmaxx. Great pointers! I’m making a vid like this, I will live you credit for your ideas. But I have a few trucks of my own. 👊⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
